Had a listen to the N272 a few weeks ago. Impressive, but need to listen to streamer only against standalone NDX, and figure out whether the pre-amp half will be an obvious step back from 82/Hicap. Even more complicated if I put an XPS DR into the mix on either side of the equation.
Sorry, real risk of turning this into a Naim fanboi hijack.

    Sonos?

Half Scottish, half German. Pretty happy with that. Don’t identify as British despite living south of the border.

I’d have a much shorter list than many above, but a couple of obscurities which I don’t think have been mentioned.
    Aruba
Leh – would have expected to see that on someone’s list
Campbell River, Vancouver Island – ok, airport is pushing it a bit perhaps

We keep returning to Sunderland year after year.
    Alternatively, consider Lisbon?

For those who have difficulty with my use of quotes in regard to ‘trail centres’, my trail centre is the Chilterns between Goring and Risborough. Means I don’t have to spend too long in the car if at all, suits my age and (declining) ability and allows me to avoid gnarpoon mounted fluorescent weekend warriors.
I am now hiding under the table in the kitchen. Bring it on.

I used it next week and can confirm it is a vast improvement.

Seen a few of Kermodes list. Never come across the BFI player before. Could be worth exploring.

Pay money, they send you phone. Free SIM and select your goody-bag to suit your usage. No contract. Works abroad. Been with them for around 5 years. No problem, provided you are OK with peer to peer support model.

Just back from Germany. Can confirm they are deemed acceptable over there.

May no longer be fashionable but I still subscribe to the best source you can afford philosophy, so as per much of the above, go as high up the Rega family tree as you can.
Really interested to see a Trio KD1033 still in use. My 1st turntable back around 1979, matched with a Trio KA3700 amp and a pair of Castle Richmond 2’s. All from HiFi corner at the top of Leith Walk, Edinburgh. Substantial chunk of grant cheque gone, beans n toast for a term.
Planar 3 early eighties from Russ Andrews then the inevitable Sondek.
Completely agree with the Count, and did likewise, moving to CD in frustration at the declining vinyl quality. Held out until mid-nineties before going digital. Still loving the recently rebuilt LP12 and a good 180g pressing truely is a beautiful thing, albeit at a price.

We’ve had our summer 2 week family holiday in the Tyrol for the last 4 years, tho lad is a bit older – now 15. 2 locations, a week in each.
Ellmau is next village along from Soll. Nice enough, though not the best location.
Bearing in mind the children’s age and your preference for flying, I’d recommend either Mayrhofen, in the Zillertal, or Seefeld/Leutasch. Latter is very chilled. We stayed at the Hotel Xander in Leutasch which I’d thoroughly recommend.
We were in the Stubai and Oetz valleys last year. Stayed at Hotel Erhart in Soelden, Oetztal, which again I’d thoroughly recommend. Made a great base for exploring the valley. Some fantastic walking out of Obergurgl up to the glaciers.
You can use someone like Inghams for flights, accommodation etc., but we tend to sort it all out ourselves direct. Much cheaper. All aBove are easily accessed by public transport from Innsbruck, are nice towns in their own right and certainly have enough to keep you occupied for a week or so at least.
If you’re looking at hotels remember that many provide a local travel card foc for valley buses, swimming pool/spa and cable car discounts.
Hope you can work something out – have a great time.

Oink – had my late eighties 250 and Hicap returned for service by Naim after around 20 years of faithful service. Well worth doing, IMHO. 72 was replaced with an 82 shortly before.

Pretty sure the really old 1/72 Airfix Spitfire kit came with JE O J decals, but without the invasion stripes. Mk lX?

Nice real world set up Oink. Ran the same amplification with CDX and Sondek as sources, thru ES14’s. Really nicely balanced, and I think I’m correct in saying Epos developed their early models with Naim amplification so one would expect the synergy to be good.

After near on 40 years of running I have a number of scars on my legs, and thrown away several pairs of torn tracksters, tights etc., all due to uncontrolled dogs.
Apologies are in the minority. Their behaviour is usually ‘justified’ by:
    He/she is only playing.
    He/she is young.
    He/she is a bit excitable.
    Why didn’t you stop running?
Last week I had a Staffie, off the leash, run across the road and jump up at me at waist height. A half hearted call from the owner. I stopped, and when the dog came back towards me again I fended it off with my foot, not kicking out. Of course the lunkhead then shouts at me – no need to kick the dog.
When I pointed out that he should have the dog under control I got a mouthful.
I don’t blame the dogs, it’s the increasingly common half wits who are too stupid or lazy to train their pets, and take responsibility for their behaviour.

If you do have to have a hole out in imprint it is possible, with care, to have a reasonable repair done. Never be invisible, but getting the right moulds and judging the colourants right can give acceptable results.

That is a beautiful thing. Had a couple of pairs of RC36’s and found them pretty reliable in their day provided they were kept clean, grease injected and serviced occasionally. Still have a pair up in the attic, in fact.
    Enjoy, deeply envious.
