ES14’s were a cracking speaker back in the day. Had a black ash pair myself. Were well matched to Naim amplification and, if I remember right, were designed with the 32/250 combo in mind (and no doubt the inevitable LP12). I’d hold on to them. Have you got the Epos stands too? As a confirmed Naim fanboi it would be inappropriate for me to comment on the other items!

Been there myself, couple of years ago. The responses above demonstrate 2 things:
These issues are a whole lot more common than many realise, and thank goodness some of the stigma is going.
There are people on here who are offering some very good advice – great to see a really supportive on-line community sharing to help you thru bad times.
6 months on Citalopram got me on an even keel, and was fortunate that my employer was sympathetic to my predicament. Things better now, and understand myself a whole lot better, having spent years in denial. Aware of the triggers and able to actively manage to pre-empt another melt-down situation.
    Good luck.

Why don’t you cycle the loop in the same direction. Given her astonish athleticism and your decrepit state you should cycle a short distance behind to avoid stalling her with your inferior bike skills, while making like the Bisto kid.

Been thinking about a couple of Ground Effect merino tops for a couple of months now, after I lost an old favorite winter jersey. Hell no! It’s March in a couple of weeks. Maybe next autumn?

Can anyone recommend me a readable account of the end of the Raj & partition?
Great couple of nights viewing – need to get back there soon!

No previous experience of Mr Gilbert, but spent couple of summers in NE Tanzania many years ago. Took less than a couple of minutes to establish he was an irritating prick. IMO, of course.

54 here, and found the latter half of my forties difficult to deal with as decline in physical capacity became increasingly apparent by the year.
Got to 50 and sat back and looked at those of a similar age & realised that, guess what, in relative terms I was doing ok. I’ ve stopped driving myself so hard, accepted that I have to ease off a bit and just enjoy being out there doing it, albeit at a reduced level. Still running after 35 years, on a 4 day cycle: 3 days running, 1 day on the bike, with a day off every couple of weeks.
Other than niggling plantar fasciitis feeling ok. Oh, and echinacea every day to keep colds at bay.

Happens to me regularly at work. I’ve previously made my views on racist language, ‘jokes’ etc. known, without being confrontational about it. Hasn’t stopped it, but at least the people apologise before proceeding! Thing is, the fellas are otherwise just regular guys, and I’m seen as a bit of a Grauniad reading odd-ball.
Can’t help but think that when the surface is scratched there is a lot more suppressed bigotry about than one might want to believe.

Once the squabbling is done have a look at the Start Fitness website for previous year deals, if budget is tight.

Your mini-me sounds much like mine. No longer watches TV with mum & dad, permenantly wired up to iPad watching idiotic crap.

Botanist +1. Definately worth hunting down. Fever Tree tonic and cucumber. Mmmmmmmm.
Waitrose were doing 10% off, plus another 10 if you have amyWaitrose card, in which case I’d recommend Hendricks, Tanqueray No10, or Martin Miller.

If he’s sporty how about a track suit top from one of the big European sides. Son lives in AC Milan one.

Use mine with MaxxD. No idea how it affects run time – if I need a light on the front I need one on the back…… Massively bright. Like Mintimperial just wrap cable round top tube: quick to on & off between bikes. Doesn’t get in the way.

    Depends where you are.
    Scotland or South/South-East = SGN
Wales & South West = Wales and West
Up north = Northern Gas Networks
All the rest = National Grid
Prepare to have your pocket picked.

    Renationalisation anyone?

Twice a week summer, once a week winter if weather half decent. Run 4-5 days a week. More if bike stays in shed.

CG – Can’t remember who was playing behind him. What sticks in my mind is people getting up and leaving, tho’ we stuck it out. At the end the crowd filed out in virtual silence – no end of show buzz whatsoever. Angry comments in the foyer afterwards.
Agree that on occasion you’ll see someone on an off night, but in my experience there is almost always something positive you can take away from the experience. Nothing that night.

Anyhow, think we’ve digressed from the thread. I’m keen to go back to Dylan’s ‘Basement Tapes’ original release. Prompted by the recent Bootleg Series release. LP12 is in the attic so may have to check out the remastered CD. Altho’ the recent release is obviously pieced together from less than pristine out-take tapes, there is a fabulous loose, rolling swagger to the material I’ve listened to so far – 3 CD’s in. Got to be time for me to revisit the ’75 release.

    CG –
Best? Bristol, with Georgie Fame, Kate St John in band – late eighties, early nineties? Sublime.
    Worst? Oxford, sometime around 2007-8?
As a long time fan, I accepted his tortured genius status, but that performance was beyond the pale. Disrespectful doesn’t cover it.
    Sorry to disagree.
Off to find ‘Into The Music’ to remind myself what was.

Gee’s here too. Not tried Magdalen Arms myself but friend recommends.
The Anchor has reopened, up Hayfield Road. If it’s half as good as the previous incarnation it’ll be worth a visit.
Mrs work colleague recommended the Spanish restaurant which is run out of St Giles Cafe in the evenings.

Van Morrison, you say, CG? Material up to Avalon Sunset couldn’t get “better”. As good as it gets then & now. Sad decline tho’. Couple of the finest concerts ever, but now wouldn’t cross the road to see, never mind pay money, after 3 successive sulk-a-thons.

How about ‘Give ’em Enough Rope’ The Clash. Thought it was a sell-out at the time, but has aged better than most of it’s contemporary punk LPs.
