Bob Stanley: Yeah Yeah Yeah (cost me a fortune on early rock’n’roll CDs…….)
Got the latest volume of Patti Smiths autobiography waiting on the bedside table pile.

Tried a good few boutique gins over the last couple of years but keep going back to Botanist for high days and holidays. Otherwise Hendricks. Fever Tree.

I’d suggest having a look at Fajllraven clothing, plus a bar of wax. Expensive, but as with most things, you get what you pay for.

I’d be looking at Dekerf, money no object. If a bit rich then the RC127 or new P7.

Everything Towzer said. Going thru this now, albeit 400 miles away but blessed with a sister close by mum. Reiterate previous points re power of attorney. Sis periodically reviews current account outgoings. Has picked up ‘vitamin pill’ purchases appearing out of the blue, which have now been blocked. I cannot express how much I loath these leeches……
Perhaps most importantly, never ever let the current condition and your own feelings of frustration and anger obscure who the person is and was. I had a lengthy appointment with my own GP re this area which has helped me enormously. Accept where your loved one is on the journey and be there to hold their hand. Mum held mine when I needed her.

If you guys up above haven’t already done so, I strongly recommend the series of archive shows now available thru live.brucespringsteen.net. Crystal Cat have put out the WB Wembley show, which is essential for Darkness fans. Not too hard to track down. Also some great solo acoustic shows around – will be interesting to see if they appear in remastered form in the archive series. Fingers crossed.

As you may have figured, I have a bit of a Springsteen obsession…..

Born to Run bought late 1975, on cassette. Astonishingly, the title track was split across sides 1 & 2. By my reckoning I now must have 5 or 6 copies in various formats. Still go back to Darkness tho’. The full The Promise set is well worth getting a hold of. Now waiting on The River box.

We used to look at VAG first, but after a troublesome Golf and appalling service from main dealer, Mrs made a switch to Mazda, based primarily on their reliability ratings. Now had a couple of Mazda 3’s, which to date haven’t missed a beat. Couple of friends have had 6 estates and really rated them as load luggers. Might be worth considering?

I’ve spent the best part of 13 years on Warfarin after PE at 40, cause undetermined. Like yourself I was in pretty good shape, running 4-5 days and a couple of bike rides each week. At no point was it suggested that I curtail my exercise regime. Had it been suggested I doubt I would have taken it on board, as high anerobic exercise was and is integral to who I am. So what has changed? Well inevitably I have got slower, and reduced my average running distance to around 5 miles per run. It’s an age thing! As a predominately solo rider, don’t take risks on the bike, very much wheels on the ground trail riding.
As Ton suggests, just apply a bit of common sense.

There is no pint in holidaying in the area unless you are prepared to get soaked on a daily basis. Last time we were up there we left after the 1st week, headed south and dried out the tent. Sorry. Now head to the Alps each summer.

Gave up trying to eliminate creak and took to lbs. Turned out it was the axle/non-drive side crank interface which had started moving. Excuse for new cranks – sorted.

Romping thru Germany, Memories of a Nation, which is an excellent read. Got Yeah, Yeah, Yeah by Bob Stanley under the bedside table, alongside Bruce (Springsteen) bio by Peter Carlin. Intend working thru the remastered CDs as I read. Swithered over the Viv Albertine book, DezB, so interested to hear your opinion – added to the want list. Must find my copy of Cut – must be in the attic somewhere.

Haven’ t used mine in 2-3years. Bought an Olympus xz2 and, although I may miss the longer lens occasionally, it’s used so much more because it’s simply much less hassle to carry around. Great little camera, by the way.

My abiding memory of Cilla is her appalling Cilla Black Show in the early ’70’s, dedicating ‘Something tells me something’s going to happen tonight’ to ‘our lads’ in Northern Ireland. Really.
