my most hated colour is probably green so a bike in that colour is a no go! my latest bike is a salsa spearfish in green but they only do green so green it was go figure! it looks grand though and possibly the best colour! still not helping much eh!

i still think there is space for both sizes.it very much depends on what your main stomping ground is and whether you like the look of them or not.

thanks guys.rusty trowel that looks dandy mate.i bought my frame secondhand off the bay and gotta say its the best 100 quid ive spent period.just need some better forks to carry it now.

hi stumpy.nice bike mate.the reason to keep it to 100ish as a single is the bobbing of lots of suspension when muscling the bike uphill.your riding a singlespeed out of the saddle alot more than a geared bike so the front end needs to be low and as little bob as possible.with the u turns then switched back in long travel mode for the downhill go faster bits.i like singlespeed in the winter for low ish maintainance.come to think of it ive singlespad for the past god knows how many years year in year out.

hi fraser thanks for your reply.it rides great with 100mm forks but if i run longer then will need adjustable u turn forks or similar.120 sounds about right to be honest.i may keep as is with new 100mm forks and build a dialled alpine or cotic soul for a burly bike.

thanks jp.i did think it was a santa cruz.like the rest of the guys on this thread have said i would try and keep your frame.resale value isnt great and also nothing is getting cheaper to buy so its nearly 500 for a new one.obviously you may need the money so its not always viable.do the right thing :-)

this is a really popular bike!thanks for all your replys.i would of tried a ragley in the size 16 so will go for a alpine 16.the type of riding i do is on the quantocks or mendips with steep rocky/rooty downs and steep ish ups so would be perfect.also they look fab slightly smaller with big forks! it pretty much ticks all the boxes for me!

    @ grimupnorth the mk1s came in a 21 and a 22 length toptube.mk2s then went to 22.5 and 23.5.
