at what degree is the crack on the steerer (ie front 0 degrees rear 180 degrees) i would second aluminium bung but would also epoxy the crack i would also make sure the bung goes further in to the steerer than the crack (at lease 25%)

im was smoker, and i wish it was as easy as some people say it is quit. its not i have been smoking since i joined the army (4-5 years ago) i have given up for months before but 1 drunken night starts it all over again….

i think you have a head stock/lock and the long bolt (6-9" long) is wider than a std m6 bolt used in a std starfangled nut
