Well I wasent there when it happened. I have stripped it down and the copper coil at the top (next to the brushes) has been ripped apart and the brushes have melted (well thats what it looks like) some one started the engine but didn’t disengage the starter and it kept running and burn out!

The brushes have fallen out and jammed into the copper reel and ripped it up. (well Thad what it looks like to me)

That’s the trick. When I go to the specialist rebuilding shop I’ll ask if it’s the same as any others so I can just buy that instead or if it goes again we can replace it.

It’s a kubota genny, (don’t know model number) the old one ripped it self apart after being left in the on position.

Yeah I received an email from you. Released it was a scam as I was think why would WCA email me?

It’s for a petrol generator made in very few numbers (or so it seems).

I have a place local to me that will service it but they want need to £150!

We might just buy a new genny!

I would get one that has the same amount of teeth and same rpm. Is there a different “throw” on starter motors?

    How about a hand crank?

I am looking in to that at the moment but was thinking a £30 starter motor may do the job.

I have been advised that to get to the clutch you have to remove panels etc that you might have to remove to get to the timing belt. So it might be a bit cheeper I’ll ask him. It would help me if I could off set them to spread the cost

Oh and to boost it all Haynes don’t make a manual for my car.

I have read it can be a mare, but then I have read it can be easy.

I would normally give most things a go. The car is in on Wednesday for a clutch change, and was wondering if I should get the timing done at the same time.

I’ll get a price from the mechanic to do this at the same time.

There not pinch bolts. There end bolts. Pinch bolts are underneath I have looked online and there are pinch bolts

Do they have pinch bolts under the axel? If they do they will need undoing.

I have a recently found out (at my expense) that truvative/SRAM cranks use different bottom brackets to the normal Ht11. I believe the non driveside is smaler than usual.

Hope the helps with your choice.

Sorry for the slight hi jack but how much is cast iron worth?? At my work we have about 2-3 tonnes of old obsolete cast iron die punches. I want the space but i have to make a good pitch to the boss to see if we can sell them. I have googled it but to no avail

I bought some forks off a guy about 2 years ago, I got them all looked good, pealed off a hope sticker to fina massive pitting area from salt etc. I sent the gu a email he never replyed and never came on stw again.

I sold a gt frame (averlanch I think) I got the name wrong and over priced the frame. The guy who bought it didn’t realise it was wrong until he built it and was pleased with it. He emailed me I offerEd him some money back which he accepted and every one was happy. I also try to deliver/pick up stuffing buy/sell.

Izumi chain! Used on track bikes cheap and strong!!

    oneoneoneone

If the sprocket is too wide for the chain to fit in the chain it will ride up the sprocket trying to throw it off. You should have a little play (side to side) if the chain is the correct fit. If it’s a 9speed chain in a SS/1-8th sprocket it will have no play

Is the sprocket designed for a 1-8th chain? As a SS chain and a 9speed are different thicknesses. This would cause the problem.

I had to fly from the Falklands to the acension islands on a herc! It killed me! Luckily I knew the co pilot so I had some added extras. I flew from Cyprus to brize on a tri star, that was the worse journey ever. The seats are rear facing and have very little leg room.

Same with me. I lost interest in biking for about 2/3 years, but since I left the army i have fallen in love again esp. My cx bike.
