MMT spend money that is your because, well, it’s your own currency. Hope that all the people you deal with don’t make things much more expensive for you because you’ll never run out of money because it’s your own currency.
This is what I don’t understand about the whole MMT thing. If you are funding your own infrastructure builds through “printing money” why won’t people just charge more for stuff? What stops inflation going through the roof?

As above it’s a weird industry for job seeking. Also PT/SLT will probably put out feelers to people they think might know the applicant to get an idea of whether they’d be a good fit. Very good or thoroughly average references usually mean trying to get rid of or try to keep respectively. Everyone knew for my last interview and there’s already talk around my next, even though the post has not come up yet and the holder doesn’t officially know they are leaving yet (once the fiscal decides to prosecute they’ll be out quick enough). Actually I only know that last bit due to the teaching rumour network.

Riding on the White Room trip looks less physically and technically demanding

That’s really dependent on you/the group. We were there two years ago and did almost twice the descending of one of the other groups. In la thuille we did three top to bottom runs before lunch compared to their one. Just by dint of no faffing and not needing to be walked through every feature. I was buckled by the rest day.
The guides are pretty good at assessing abilities and can chuck some interesting diversions your way.

I taught a kid who would come in weekly with another conspiracy theory and we’d laugh at it. I told him all conspiracy theories were put out by the government to stop you thinking about the truth.

Last I saw he was writing for the Catholic times having gone full on religion. Can’t win them all.

Well it was news to me. When I read the first post I assumed it was “your mother smells of elderberries” type of things but now see it’s much more insidious.

The more people I have contact with, the more I like my dogs.

It was mentioned earlier but get them to work out how much running the heating will be compared to not running it (standing charges) they will be surprised.

One of the most strident no heater voices will have it cranked to max when the others have gone home for the weekend.

Oil filled heater. Advantage being if she walks out and leaves it on the house won’t have burned down when she returns from being on the lash.

@nickc yep I ride with it enabled goes off every so often less than once a ride. Mostly from very hard braking or a spill. Riding mostly tweed valley steep stuff.

If I off the loudness of it’s beeping will hopefully help someone find me and the message sent will let Mrs 100th start the insurance paperwork.  I don’t think in the last 5 years I’ve not been able to stop and reset it.

I’m a little bit surprised about switching off Garmin crash detection because of false positives. Presumably it’s a pain because it beeps and you have to cancel it. You cancel it because you can, that’s not what it’s for, it’s for when you can’t.

I have 0.0 or AF beers on a night out. Still talk pish but I do find myself tempering what I say as sometimes it used to push the boundaries, as it does with friends and sometimes with work folk. Don’t have the “oh no”‘s as much now.

You need to drink more water that volume and colour would indicate dehydration.

Newcastleton is a shadow of its former self. The new stuff is quite fun and last time we were there we looped it top to bottom several times but most of the rest of it was closed.

PXL_20241006_143717594PXL_20241006_102853806Stonking ride with one of the sketchier descents at yair/peel.

Then a walk and a firework clear up after some less than considerate individuals in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully they got a puncture in the way home and sprained an ankle each.

To me the police have demonstrated that they can be zealous (often over) in their application of all kinds of laws they already have, when it suits them. But right now, I get the feeling that they either don’t care or are so bewildered by recent changes in available technologies and products that they aren’t even bothering

Or at present there isn’t a political will to push the under resourced services into yet another focus. No longer forces but services no longer proactive but reactive. You know who to blame for this situation and it wears a suit not a uniform.

11km run on forest roads with dogs. Love this time of the year when the sun shines. Been intermittent fasting for months but had toast before heading out. Felt rubbish heavy compared with Wednesday early morning fasted run where I felt good all the way round.

I always assumed that the smudge was for advertising “reasons” but it always annoys me that a large number of these builds are be architects or “builder” who get lots of free advertising by dint of its being their build.

Petzl Tactikka seconded. Simple does the job and robust enough to be relatively squaddie proof.

Sainburys straiton for some reason Everytime I go into the car park on the way out I end up driving on the right. Still in the car park and only for a single corner but I’ve done it a few times. No idea why, it’s really strange even when I know I might do it.

Savages who make cheese scones with the same dough as the currant scones. So they are sweet and cheesy, not savoury, prefer with a dab of mustard powder and Parmesan through them.

Oh good – just watching the Live from Orange gig I remember from my youth last night.

I was in Orange as a teenager. Sat for 10 minutes in the amphitheatre and watched a bit of the sound check. Then had to do family tourism stuff what lots of teen Kevin stomping around.

Near me there have been two masts put into not spots. They are an eyesore but me annoyingly run off diesel generators.

And the erection crew shat in the woods and left shit stained toilet paper floating around.

Ride tonight if the weather holds.

Had a nobsound thing, lasted a good few years only complaint I had was the connected tones were set at super loud.

Got rid of it when it broke and the “system” that sat there and got a denon m41 from eBay and it’s really good.

I annoyed my self today by using the term “golden”, as in “you’re golden you don’t have to do this task”.

    Worse, I did it twice.
