Executive pay at BAA has doubled over the past couple of years yet over the same time the lower paid workers had a pay freeze then a 1% pay rise (which in real terms is a paycut considering the rate of inflation). If BAA is suffering financially then executive pay and bonus should reflect that just as much as that as those lower down on the corporate scale.

I can never understand why there is such venom and dislike always reserved for average working person striking over pay and conditions? Why are these people the focus for such ire yet on the other end of the business in the boardroom then the people there can seem to do as they please – and if someone raises any comment about that then is just often dismissed about the politics of envy or something similar. Why is the redistribution of wealth only acceptable when it is going towards people already on 6 or 7 figure salaries?

The 306 rallye was great, not the fastest car i've had, or the best built, or the best looking but easily the funnest car i've owned im sure the gti would have been good as well.

depends how cold it is. on road bike a good base layer for legs and body and roubaix bib tights, winter cycling top, couple of buffs, winter cycling boots and i feel toasty to about minus 10. for mtb then the same although with a pair of baggies over top to give the lycra a bit of protection.

only thing i really feel the cold with is my finger below about 5 degrees i struggle with keeping my fingers warm no matter how much i spend on quality gloves and undergloves.

carron valley is the closest (and most convenient as it is close to stirling too) but its relatively small and doesnt have a cafe etc so might not be the best for spending a whole day.

getting dropped off on the way up before reaching glasgow at ae or drumlanrig would likely be the next most convenient

never attempt a trackstand waiting for the traffic lights to change when there is an audience of school kids crossing in front

never wear white lycra on a rainy day with no mudguards

the original gti only had about 100bhp – however that was considerably lighter than that one. The 125bhp will feel pretty underpowered for a gti and not much nippier than an average hatchback.

Did that in the US a few years back. Its great fun although can be a bit painful depending on how you hit the water!

I use the shimano DX pedals (M647) which have the spd mechanism on both sides with a big resin cage surrounding. I quite like the cage in terms of extra support when clipped in (they work great with the mp66 shoes) and they are ridable when not clipped in too, not as good as a flat pedal though.

For my commuter i have Shimano PD A530 and the flat side of them would be useless for mtb – there is virtually no grip your feet would be sliding all the time if wet or muddy. Really only use that side if i am using the bike and have to wear normal shoes rather than spds

I'd prefer more speed cameras. When driving they are much preferable to the alternative traffic calming measures like speedbumps or choke points/chicanes (which rather than slow traffic just seem to cause extra danger for cyclists with cars trying squeeze pass without leaving anyroom)
