the kryptonite fahgettaboudit mini d lock is good and pretty small so alot easier to carry than a normal d lock (i think the small size also makes it more secure as there is less room to get tools to break it open). it is tight fit though.

if i am leaving the bike for a few hours and out of sight then i use the mini d alongside the fahgettaboudit it chain which weighs a ton, if it is just a quick stop off to do some shopping then i feel safe enough just using the mini d

I’ve never actually dumped anyone officially, not even by text or email. I just try and fade out their lives and cease contact and avoid the hassle, drama and stress that will inevitably come with breaking up face to face.

I recognise i do have a bit of a problem here and it makes me a right emotionally immature bastard. But so long as the French foreign legion is about, i will keep pretending to join.

He wasn’t a great actor but he was in some great films where his acting and personality suited the role he was being asked to play.

A few lessons would be useful – you can get to a fairly decent level in running and cycling just reading advice in books or on the internet and trying to implement it in training, but with swimming there is a greater emphasis on technique – get that wrong and you are wasting alot of energy.

As for the distance. It is about perspective – i come from a swimming background and the swimming distance (and cycling distance too) in triathlons is IMO too small compared to the run.

mentions in the artlce that after the games it will be redesigned slightly with a mountain bike track added? is that inside the velodrome or elsewhere in the park?

    Get hyped, c’mon we gotta
    Gather around – gotcha
Mail from the courts and jail
Claims I stole the beats that I rail
Look at how I’m livin’ like
And they’re gonna check the mic, right? – psyche
Look at how I’m livin’ now, lower than low
    What a sucker know
I found this mineral that I call a beat
    I paid zero
I packed my load ’cause it’s better than gold
People don’t ask the price, but it’s sold
They say that I sample, but they should
    Sample this my pit bull
    We ain’t goin’ for this
They say that I stole this
    Can I get a witness?

I was a pretty late adopter and only got a GPS at christmas (a garmin 800) and i’ve been really pleased with it so far.

All the data like height gained, average heart rates, average speed broken down into laps, cadence etc quickly becomes addictive to follow. It is a great training tool in that respect.

The GPS guidance function i’ve found useful but i’ve not really tested it out to its full capability off road yet (as in used it to follow a route i’ve plotted in an area i’ve never been to before).

the gym bikes at my gym have a screen and a usb port that i can connect my ipod up to watch the sufferfest on the bigger screen. also allows for wireless heart rate data to show on that screen too. Would be really quite a good set up if it wasn’t for the daft big soft seat on the bike that makes my arse go numb after about 20 minutes!

    might be worth trying priceline

i got a cracking deal on there for the westin in times square, was about $110 per night for a suite including taxes

also got a good deal via priceline for the hyatt regency in jersey city which is on the other side of the hudson ($90 per night). got a helicopter transfer there from the airport too…that was superb, felt like a rockstar and it was not that much more expensive than what a cab would have cost (was $100)

Never lived there but visited a few times over the years and it seems quite nice. Pretty much like every town of a certain size up and down the country in terms of what it offers regards shops and restaurants but with the cathedral and castle it has a bit of character too.

i dont mind the mud when im riding it is the clean up afterwards,

even the road bike at this time of year, needing to clean it after every ride to get rid of all the corrosive shite, bring on the spring and summer and the simple of joy of being able to put the bike in the garage straight after a ride!

there was a feature about this on bikeradar last year when they did some test – aerobars on a normal road bike as opposed to riding on the drops saves circa 30 watts at 40km/h. A time trial helmet will save about 10 watts

A tt bike saves about 20 watts over a road bike with aerobars.

A tip for the leches on here regards beach volleyball – i got called a poof by my mates for going to see the men play, but i figured that as the women had a crowd full of males there for perving purposes that the opposite would be true for the mens game. I was right, but even better than that the women who were in the crowd weren’t the equivalent of the sad loser guys in the crowd – most of them were Amazonian goddess swimmers whose games had already finished. 😀

I’ve been fortunate enough to see most of the olympic events live (apart from sailing and the equestrian) and the athletics / track and field events were amongst the poorest to watch in the stadium. You end up needing to watch what is happening on the big screens to see what is happening. Likewise with rowing, it is very exciting to watch on tv but in the audience it is pretty awful.

Track cycling, swimming were the two that were most exciting in terms of seeing all the action as well as the crowd reaction. The court sports like volleyball, basketball, badminton, tennis, handball were all pretty good as was the fighting. Actually they all get pretty exciting, even things like weightlifting which i had thought was going to be boring.

I remember getting in from school one day and when i put the tv on blue peter was on which i’d normally change the channel to avoid. However there was some feature about outdoor swimming and Konnie Huq was trying it out.

A Wet black swimsuit and the temperatures were cold. One of the televisual highlights of 1997!

I think it is partly to do with them being a bit nervous on the road and feel a bit of reassurance getting closer to someone at the lights who looks as if they know what they are doing.

Usually when i am at the lights there isnt any space behind for someone to go behind me due to a car coming up closer than it should when stopping and if the cyclist is nervy they will see an open gap in front of me and use that. Dont mind it much, it is minor inconvenience compared to some of the driving i see and the potholes that need to be avoided

I’m probably not the best person to ask about something a bit different considering for road bikes i go with Specialized and will likely stick with them in the future.

Some other bike brands definitely have a better image but you have to be careful about whether the particular model represents good value for money. The de Rosa R838 which is bike of the year in cycling weekly is the same as the ribble stealth for about double the price. The frame is identical manufactured in the same factory, the same moulds etc only thing that varies is the paint job and price tag.

This is a bit out of budget at £3000 but looks to be a great deal http://www.pearsoncycles.co.uk/store/product/18805/Felt-Z2-Gloss-Black-Road-56cm/ Felt Z2 with shimano di2.

Canyon also seem really good value too and pretty rare too at the moment, i’ve only seen one on the roads so far.

Im pretty crap at it at the moment as i’ve just started playing it on hardcore rather than normal mode but its alot of fun. I normally play games for a couple of weeks then get a bit bored but i keep coming back for more with bad company 2.

try to vary the classes a bit depending on the map – engineer for vehicle based maps or recon with the gol for long range or if up close then the vss (a gun i didnt like in the normal mode but in hardcore seems quite effective)

just discovered that playing with the 870 combat with shotgun slugs and magnum ammo can be quite useful – tricky to get the hang of targetting but if you get it right then the power and range is like a sniper rifle without a scope.

    Pretty damn expensive though.

On the downside: I’m an ugly bastard with a repulsive personality.

On the upside: I am a man and I ride my mountain bike quite often.

    i’m a big catch, obviously.
