Was going to recommend Exteondo as a good option as i got a couple of pairs for about £60 each last year, unfortunately they only seem to be available at RRP at the moment.

Used to really like dhb shorts as a budget option but the recent ones arent up to much – the lycra is sort of shiny and goes see through very quickly. Pad at the front is very thin which is a bit of an issue if you have an head down arse up position on the bike.

He laid the foundations for Rodgers success at Swansea and keeping Wigan up for as long as he did was a good achievement considering he usually started the season having lost a couple of key players each year and having to forge a new team.

Everton dont have a huge budget but their wage bill is about nearly £70 million a year whereas Wigans is under £40 million…that is a pretty big difference.

I’ve tried his rocket fuel recipe (basically a boiled potato rolled in olive oil, salt and some parmesan) and it works really well, something a bit different to an energy bar or gel.

Dont think it is too kneejerk a decison – for the money spent at City the football they play is poor and they have done dreadfully in the champions league. If anything the owners have been pretty patient with him

Assos Mille are my favourites but they are bloody expensive.

Not particularly impressed by the current range of dhb shorts (used to really rate them) – the top of the range ones might be better but with the middle range ones the pad is thin, particularly at the front and the lycra is sort of shiney too and has gone see through after about 5 washes! Would go with Lusso or Decathlon for good value

I use clinchers at the track but that is what the bike came with rather than it being a decision i made. If i was to choose now i’d probably stick with clinchers for the convienience unless i had a couple of sets of wheels, one for training and one for racing. Im using vittoria diamonte pista and they are really nice tyres, about 150g and can be pumped up to 145 psi.

that is a disgrace but not at all surprisingly, which is extremely depressing 🙁

Fit varies between brands as does how stretchy the bib straps are

Some brands (like assos) also do a long and short leg version of the same size. Also other brands (like skins) have a size chart that goes by height and weight.

Generally though i go by height, if you are average (or either a bit skinny or a bit overweight) then its the easiest way to measure up as bibs are more forgiving around the waist than other sorts of shorts.

Oakley do a pen to put a coating on the lens. Not tried it so dont know if it works or not though, might just be an expensive gimmick

someone took one of my KOMs at the weekend, I only have two now and one of those is downhill so cant really count!… is there a period of grace allowed before attacking it again?! theres two in the area I want though as a measure of my own performance improving, one is a mile long hill, the other is a 10km section on gently undulating road. They are Pomphrey Hill and Wapley Road TT for anyone South Glos based….

I’ve been know to get the bike out and immediately go and try and get a KOM back – particularly if i feel i have lost it due to wind conditions 😀

The Rijksmuseum has recently re-opened that will be worth a visit although will include art in it (as do alot of the other museums). Dutch resistance museum is pretty good.

If you like football you could go and see Ajax if they are playing at home.

Hire bikes and go for a cycle about the place go on a boat trip etc

+ 1 for assos mille, very expensive but the comfort means i can sort of justify the price despite being a cheap bastard normally!

At the more budget range then lusso or decathlon. Used to like (and still do for other things they do) but recently not been impressed by their shorts – pad is thin and the lycra has a sheen to it that is pretty see through.

Maybe take out times (or delete the profiles) from inactive users if they dont log in for a year or so. The site is fun because of the social side to the ‘competition’, battling it out with people you either already know or whose names you recognise from the local leaderboards. Not much glory to be had in beating a guy who logged a ride once 2 years ago…i want to be beating people that will feel just as crestfallen as i do when i get the strava uh oh email. 😀

if you are struggling to get the numbers then you could try posting on bikeradar in the track section there. A few weeks ago some posters on there were talking about their difficulty in getting track time at Newport.

Is a shame he wont be there to bow out at the commonwealth games but i always thought it might be just one step too many considering his age and what he puts his body through during his training.

Wonder if i can get his gold locker at the velodrome 😀

+1 It’s For Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Dont think it is on TV here so you’ll need to watch it online, but it is worth a watch.

It is to do with the start and finish of a segment, strava seems to have issues when both points are next to each other as part of a loop. Iif you move the end point back a hundred metres or so it should sort it

I’ve got the specialized 2d which is an older model but looks quite similar and if it is as good as that would recommend it.

Basically if it fits nicely and is comfortable then go for it.

The biggest annoyance bar none while working from home is the phone going for a business call while viewing some artistic photography. It takes alot of practice to engage with the phone call and sound professional and mask the mixture of breathlessness, frustration and impatience one is feeling at such a moment.

Viewing figures for the Thatcher TV specials have been pretty poor – 3 million for the Andrew Marr one on BBC 1 last night. That must be up there with some of the worst viewing they have had on prime time tv.

No, ive had 4 each have stopped working properly after about 6 months. To be fair to garmin they replaced them for free.

Im now using a polar soft strap which the garmin unit fits into, only had it a couple of weeks so dont know how it will last yet but it is comfortable to wear

I’ve been up Hardknott with 39/25 and 34/28 and its bastarding hard whatever the gears. Only difference with the 34/28 was that i could keep the pedals turning slowly and prolong the pain enough to get up.

Only way i’d be able to spin up it would be to do it on my mountain bike
