Its also the hill climb season so if there are a few riders just doing that hill and not much more on the same day it might be for that reason.

Time trialing at the club level can be a really friendly and approachable way to start racing.

It does take a certain type of mentality to do them though. I dont have it, in a race i find i can maintain high levels of effort then dig even deeper to follow a wheel or launch an attack but pacing and pushing myself if it is just against the clock i find very difficult to do. Its not just about not being able to dig deep its also that i find my mind start to wander onto other things rather than concentrate fully.

That brings the memories back they were still around in the 80s too. Most driveways seem to be brick these days kids dont know the delights they are missing 😀

When you see Martin in his position from the front or back it is almost as if he has no shoulders…he’s made for time trialing. That is going to make a bigger difference in terms of watts saved particularly compared to Cancellara rather than a very small difference in their choice of bikes

Im not sure about the tour of Britain but the likes of the tour de France have a litter zone (shortly after the feed zone) where riders are allowed to throw their rubbish, they can get fined for doing this outwith the litter zone. It then gets picked up by a cleaning crew after the race.

Throwing their bottles is a bit different i dont think that is classed as littering and the bottles tend to be picked up by souvenir hunting fans.

I dont like the fascist but it is a bit harsh this early in the season, even if they have started poorly still plenty of time to turn things around.

the price is hard to stomach, particularly for a cheapskate like me…but the assos milles are worth the money.

I dont wear them for short rides so they last longer but for a long day in the saddle they are my first and only choice. You really notice the difference on back to back long days like you would be doing on a LEJOG.

This game misses a casino, would of been a great way to make cash or rob.

There is a casino it has opening soon banners outside, maybe features in later missions?

    Assos Mille

Expensive but the only short i can go 5 hours + with and still feel comfortable by the end of the ride.

Their T_Pro S2 are a fair bit cheaper and pretty good too

No experience personally of the planet x but it is a popular one at track league – at 700 it is decent value so at 475 even more so

About a third. Although that ignores the indoor stuff (either rollers, spin bikes etc) that i do in the winter but dont do in the summer…generally my training has a bit of focus over winter whereas in the summer i dont really train i just ride my bike and sometimes race it.

The figures for those underemployed, in low paid work and those in zero hours contracts dont make things sound so rosey.

we must re elect labour quick or we ll end up with folks owning us billions not the other way round..

How is the national debt doing under the Tories?

Its wrong to ostracise anyone based on how they look.

However i find the acceptance – even pride – that some have of being obese under terms like loving ones body whatever shape it is and also the excuses people use to justify being fat quite abhorant rather than them actually being fat.

But then that says something about my own hang ups as a fat guy – i am about 2 stone overweight and i hate how that makes me look and feel. There are no excuses it is is a symptom of weakness and failure on my part to get my diet under control. Nothing to be happy or accepting of there, whereas if i lose the weight then that would be something i would be proud of.

4 ticket limit is quite common with alot of sporting events and concerts. For the ones with big demand it is often just a 2 ticket limit.

I’m on a boat ****, take a look at me
Straight flowing on a boat on the deep blue sea
Busting five knots, wind whipping out my coat
You can’t stop me ****, ’cause I’m on a boat

Looks good, first one i’ve seen in red.

last time i was at a friday night drop the pace in the string was about 25mph+ for the hour, the D races in the track league are not much faster than that (obviously there are surges faster than this but the races are also only about 20-30 laps) so if you or anyone else in GMBC fancy giving it a go i’d recommend it.

The study organisers are the ones you should be asking these questions to rater than here! You will not take part without giving informed consent so ask the organisers the questions and read the documentation

I thought it would be better hearing some independent views rather than hearing from those doing the study who perhaps only look towards the medical side of things rather than the wider issues.

why amateur racers? do you expect them to compete in a race before and after the trial period? Just curious in terms of how you are measuring it and whether EPO is banned or not for amateur races?

When amateurs get their race license they have to agree to submit to doping controls at races (even if its something that is extremely unlikely to ever happen at the level most of those who have a race license compete at)

The study is measuring things via a vo2 max test, a sprint/lactate test and also a blood test.

Great day out, .the closed roads and big event atmosphere really made it.

From what i saw the majority of the early groups were experienced, no daft riding, no diving into the corners etc and a fast pace. Never really felt nervous in the way you get when amongst erratic riders.perhaps later waves were different.

I couldnt hack the pace on leith hill got dropped there then a bit of a sufferfest until box hill when the next big group swallowed me up. The last 15km or so was an awesome experience, a downhll section then a flat run along the river to westminster and the crowds from there to the finish. Last 2k in particular stands out with the pace really ramping up people trying to get a decent position for the sprint and the crowd cheering as if they are watching the stars rather than guys like me. 😀

Thanks for the advice, i’m getting on in Glasgow so at least the train wont already be full.

Bit paranoid about putting it in the guards van as i dont think you are allowed to lock things in there and it will be out of sight 😕

What exactly constitutes a porn site and who defines it? The likes of tumblr and flickr arent primarily used for porn but there is alot of adult content on there – does that mean they will be blocked?

In any case child or rape porn is pretty easy to avoid – its not something people are going to stumble upon by accident and IMO there is more objectional content relating to sexualising children on websites like the daily mail than the average porn site.

A mixture – on sunday i did every local climb over about 50 metres main roads, side roads and farm tracks and didnt do the same twice (although i went down a few only to come straight back up) and that got me to about half way.

Since then have been more time pressed so been a mixture of hill repeats and a short hilly loop.

Stella Rimington didn’t have much respect for civil liberties when it came to miners or members of CND.

There may have been a slight eroding of civil liberties in recent years but there was never a halycon age when these were respected in the first place.

cracking day out…tough course, but great for spectating and being able to go and see different parts during the day. In the mens race the breakaway of Stannard and Fenn went very early (first lap i think) and then Millar, Swift, Kennaugh and Cavendish chased it down over the course of a few laps – there was another group of about 10 just behind them that nearly made contact (was down to about 30 seconds at one point) but by the next lap they were 3 minutes down. I guess it is to be expected but the pro tour guys really are on a different level to everyone else – no slight on the others just more a mark of how good the likes of Millar, Cavendish, Stannard etc are.
