    Who is the fan of aluminium rotor bolts

    Hayes, Apparently.
    Although I was glad they were aluminium when I was attacking them with the drill.

    I was taking some rotors off a set of brand new wheels the other week and ended up with 4 rounded out bolts. I’m no longer a fan of Aluminium torx bolts…

    Anyway, my learnings from my easy out experiment were that you need to think about the size of drillbit you’re using carefully – too small and you won’t a big enough easy out in to enough depth to bite. (I used the type above) Too big and the bolt can split and mash into your threads.

    Also if it’s sheared, it’ll be tricky to get the drill bit to centre. (May need carefully flattened with a dremmel) In any event I’d seriously consider finding a pillar drill to use as it will keep everything lined up.

    I managed to drill the last of the crop off centre, offline and too big, and I wasn’t even contending with Ti.
