What tyres can the MK1 frame run?

Can you run 27+ on the back? Or is it just 29?

I presume the MK1 can run both 29 and 29+ on the front?

For a MK1 fraem what tye and rim combo would you recommend?

    I really rate mine

Only thing ive noticed at the back is a small amount of play in the free hub. Means that if i try and movee the rear rim i can see me disk moving slightly against the pads. Only be about 1mm. Dont want to tighten completely or it will eat the bearings.

    Anyone else had this?

Bike shop said that there is always a small amount of give in the mavic rear hubs?

    Other than that bloody brilliant

I used to ride an ASR5 and was looking at an SB5 as my next bike. Rode an SB5, Ibis HD3 and Ibis Ripley back to back. The Yeti, as much as i wanted to love it was the least exciting of the lot. Just seemed to flatten out the trail too much. Also it felt to me like you were sitting quite high on the bike, not in the bike which is what i loved about the ASR5. Also some how i thought the suspension seemed too good – cant belive i’m saying that. The HD3 was really good but the Ripley was bloody amazing. It opened my eyes up to what really sorted short travel 29ers could be like. So ive now gone a bought an Evil Following. Frame arrived last week. Very excited to build this bad boy up.

I’d love some LB rims but can’t really afford them now. Can pick up a pair of STs for £450 as apprised to over £600 for LB

I would want to run them for places like Cannock but nothing more extreme – obviously not the full on downhill sections with big drops

Im pretty light. Just didnt know anything else that offerd pretty good duarbaility with stiffness and lightweight

I was looking also at arches on hopes but they are quite a bit heavier and i’m not sure they are as stiff?

More of a stiff wide trail rim really

Not too worried about ultimate weight but ideally northing more than stans flows

Like the sound of the Camber Evo. Need to try and get out and try one. When MBUK reviwed it they said it would be an amazing bike if it had a 130/140 fork on front. Would bring the front to more like 68 degrees which would be great on the downs

Ive demoed the ibis. Just need to find somewhere with a demo Camber Evo and demo RIP

Camber Evo has vey similar geo to the Ibis. How does it clim as FSR bikes are normally quite squishy / bob on the climbs. My stumjumper evo did anyway. Be keen to hear your thoughts

68 degrees with 140 fork. The test bikes were running 70mm stems on the Ripley

    Felt awesome

the Ibis rep was saying that he though 70mm was about spot on in terms of stem length for a 29er – felt good to me

I’m just nearing 6ft but i think the large with the saddle slightly further back on the rails would be spot on

Really tempted to get a frame and build it up. Did the black and green bike have the d inline – i thought that was superb

The bike just felt so nimble and you could really throw it around. It felt very confident inspiring

Just wondering if the allow RIP could have a similar feel but for half the price?

I was also thinking of the LTC but thought it looked big. Tried the 5010 and i wasnt inspired. The L was too small and the XL semed bulky

HaydPD. How tall are you. How did you find fit on the large frame? I’m 6ft and it felt alomost spot on

HaydPD. How did the black and green ripley ride with the arches. Just want to make sure it wasnt those superb carbon wheels that made the bike so amazing

I was also at the mountain trax demo day and its why ive started this thread The blue ripley was just an amazing ride, really amazing.

The RIP gives another option. Supposed to be a bit more stable on the rought stuff.

Tiny tim – how does the RIP ride on flatter terrian – still efficient and fun? As lots of the riding near me is not that rowdy i want somehting thats going to be fun on flowing / technical singletrack as well as giving the option (an confidence) to do the odd bit of semi-rowdy stuff. Dont need it to cover lift day type terrain – that beyond my capabilities. The RIPLEY felt so quick and nimble. Just wondering if the RIP would be the same?

Has ayone ridden the RIP and how does it compare to the Ripley?

The Pyga looks like a nice ride. Not sure ist nicer than the Niner ior Ripley.

I’m after a bike that can feel just as fun and able to do some cross country riding as well as some moderate trail riding at least able to giveconfience in riding places like cannock

Also wondering about the Camber Evo

Quite like the process 111 but not sure how well that climbs

    Any other thoughts folks

Octavia VRS diesel esatate. Had mine for 6 months. Bloody awesome. Nearly went for a 3 series but the boot was way bigger and the engine sounded nicer on the Octy. The 330d touring though is a peach !

Looks like 18t as standard unless you upgrade to 36t

Just built an AS5 up myself. Rode it for the first time on Sunday. Bloody amazing!!!!
Got a pair of RCT3 revelations (150 dual air) very cheap with standard steeter – they are just an amazing fork – spaced down to 130mm they blow float 32’s out of the water
Uisng hope headset – 1/18 standard top 1.5 standard cup bottom with the hope reduce crown race. Works a treat

My thoughts are the same. Think it will save space on the bar. Do you just need the xt m785 brakes and the i spec shifters and nothing elese. I presume they then just connect to the brakes?

How is setting them up. Is it a pan having both positive and negative to worry about. How do the dual airs compare to the dual positions

Should i go 140 on the asr5 or 130. Test rode it at 140 and it felt good but people say 130 is the sweet spot

Is there just one valve to manage pressure on the RCT3 dual air or two
