Worth getting it checked over and contacting your insurance if it is hydro locked. I had the same experience with a VW T4 and insurers wrote it off

Yep seem fine, I’ve got winters on the front and the n8000 on the back, n8000 get good reviews and we’re super cheap at 77 for a pair of 225 45 17 (eBay so add 24 for fitting)

A ‘this is peaty’ episodes from last year showed Greg Minnars mech putting 15000 revolutions on a saint BB with a cordless drill to get it running super free before installing it a world cup race bike.

yeah I was out on the bike on some back roads, suddenly went very light so looked up to see a meteorite whizzing across the sky, this was over Aberlour heading east / west at 6.45pm very cool

Second the cambelt and waterpump – an expensive fix when they go wrong!

Also beware whining in 5th and juddering on acceleration which can also be expensive noises.

They’re also getting to the age where rust could become an issue so a good check round the sills, arches etc.

We’ve had ours for nearly 10 years and despite all the problems it’ll be a sad day when it goes : )

Patches of frost on the dog walk and scraped proper ice off the windscreen at 8.30am this morning so it seems we’ve missed autumn and gone straight to winter on Speyside!

Jnr’s next bike will prob be a frog. His cnoc 14 has been great and will get passed on to his younger brother but I can’t justify the extra £80 for the brand alone!

The only drawback I could see with the single speeder frogs, they seemed to be quite high geared compared to the Isla, worth considering if you’re somewhere hilly. Other than that they look great proper lockon grips and everything!

Was supposed to be doing Laggan Enduro but found a couple of broken spokes while loading the bike up, quick change out of baggies and into lycra and out for a 100 miler including up to Cairngorm railway and Bridge of Brown. Lovely day for it, dry, not too cold or windy and quiet roads very happy

I got lucky and had a clean and reasonably quick qualifier ending up in the second to last row of the main race.

I got a rubbish start and had a couple of silly crashes due to over excitement and fatigue on the top rocky section. Ended up taking it steady, soaking up the atmos and being polite and cheery to everyone who I passed and was passed by 1hr 17min. Collared for an interview at the finish which was nice and completed the epic feeling!

Great event, amazing weather and good craic with mates and other riders, well chuffed for first Mega and the whole trip was a 40th present from a couple of good buddies!

Yep 25 miles here, love it! but I’ve got sympathetic boss and colleagues.
Started off doing drive in cycle home as you suggest for a few months to get the fitness up now happily doing 150 miles a week (3 days per week). Great way to get the fitness up but plays havoc with family commitments as it’s essentially a 12 hr day!

    They’ve lost my parcel haven’t they…

    Probably!

Ordered a few bits a couple of weeks ago paid the 2.99 postage, bits arrived a week later after lots of hassles. Apparently a town halfway between Inverness and Aberdeen is ‘remote’ I did get my postage refunded and a £5 voucher so can’t really complain.

Just ordered new shoes, haven’t paid postage so law of sod says they’ll be here tomorrow (which would be nice : ).

Feeling your pain Mister P; 38.6km, 506m and 25kmp/h, hurt during and still a bit sore. Possible strong gusty headwind this evening too! On the plus side I get to keep eating mince pies and chocolate :-)

Whyte Dorset (and old Felt F80) owner here and can highly recommend, nice comfy bike with sensible gearing and excellent brakes. I really like the wide, compact drops and the bike feels right with barely any fettling.

Isn’t Dumyat the big hill on the right as you approach Stirling on the M9, there’s some good stuff in the old mine around Bridge of Allan too. Cambusbarron is also worth a look but i wouldn’t know where to start describing it as i’ve only been there once (we cycled out on an old railway path if it helps!)

Running 160mm pikes on my Tr i’d be surprised if you can tell the difference tbh but gives a bit more ‘get out of jail’ travel when the going gets rough :-)

Could be the wrong weight oil in it, proper reverb oil is really thin and thicker oil causes really slow return

Yeah heard there’s a bit of a shortage of rentals, we’ve found a nice place in Carron but in laws popped past today and weren’t overly impressed. Possible place up by the campsite but no garden and street view suggests it might be a bit quiet! If your sis knows of anything family and dog friendly that’d be great!

Cheers for the beta about commute, sound doable which is a relief

Ah nice cheers Swavis! yep, mid way between Grantown where wife works and Huntly where my job is, nice schools, esy access to rivers, coast, hills – whats not to like!

What’s the Glenfiddich road to Huntly like? planning to cycle twice a week doable depending on weather? death on a stick?

Also do you know of any 3 / 4 bed houses available to rent short term?
