As a youngster paper chases were still popular. Probably get fined for littering these days 😂
oldenoughFree MemberHistorically the gypsy/tinker community would mark houses with signs made of sticks or scratches on fence posts. Normally to indicate that the owners were friendly, and would buy items or pay for services, maybe just provide water that sort of thing. These obviously predated phones and modern communication methods. There’s some evidence that more modern chalk marks might have a more sinister intent. But that’s mostly in the sphere of urban myths. Utility companies will leave chalk marks all over the place, doesn’t mean your house has been targeted.
oldenoughFree MemberLast two orders I’ve had of Amazon were marked as delivered but the weren’t. Went on live chat got an automated message stating wait 48 hours and if I hadn’t received item I could opt for a replacement to be sent or get a refund. Both times I got a no questions asked refund. But about a week later the items turned up 🤔.

I’d be going with this. But purely because I couldn’t be arsed dealing with the potential hassle of trying to claim of someone. Bit ultimately it’s up to the OP to decide what to do.
oldenoughFree MemberWell it’s not going to happen. It’s a private members bill and the government just recently ruled it out after a fairly thourgh review on the matter.
oldenoughFree MemberI’ve got a friend who’s a nurse and recently there’s been a big fuss (understandably) about an overpayment clawback. Nurses on a 37.5 hour contract get paid time and a half for overtime. But those on part time contracts don’t get time and a half untill they reach the 37.5 hours. Reasoning being someone on part time doing 37.5 hours would earn far more than a full time worker (mass switch to part time work), which is probably fair enough. But predictably payroll forgot about this and overpaid hundreds by sometimes £1000’s.
oldenoughFree MemberTherefore the law cannot require them to obey speed limits.
Your right no specific speed limits apply to cyclists, but you can be charged with dangerous cycling and excessive speed for a given situation can play a part in that.
1oldenoughFree MemberAnd some people might think ‘this is so slow I may as well cycle’
I’d like to think so but sadly I don’t think this will be true. I’m not anticipating any significant increase in Welsh cycling, it’ll be the same people but hopefully in a safer environment. Not sure on that even. I’m seeing loads more dangerous overtaking (cars passing other cars) in existing 20mph zones than I ever did with a 30mph limit
oldenoughFree MemberOver and over, the thing that puts people off the latter is speeding traffic.
Maybe, but the 20mph is generally unenforceable over the entire road network, many people will just ignore it apart from around cameras ect. The problem speeders will still be speeding. Sorry I’m cynical about asking people about what would make them cycle more. 20mph speed limit, in reality for most people instead of definitely not cycling it’ll become probably not.
oldenoughFree MemberSeriously, I’d be looking at £1500 for me, £1500 for parts.
By me that’s all I’d be looking to pay. You could obviously pay 10X but for me it’s somewhere to get clean. I’d rather spend my money on bikes and holidays.
oldenoughFree MemberFarage can still go get a Natwest account. He’s not been debanked.
So as a racist bigot he can’t have Coutts account but is ok to have a Natwest one ?
Nothing other than the commercial consideration should ever have been discussed in the closing of his sccount.oldenoughFree Memberthe parents have acted oddly. Their child’s denial makes their version all the more bizzare.
If they were paid by the Sun not so bizarre, but so far I’ve not heard that they were.
oldenoughFree MemberQuite why anyone would pay £35k for what you can get for free on the interballs bemuses me!
There might have been an emotional attachment, people have paid out far more when they’ve fallen for someone.
Given he’s done absolutely nothing illegal
Details are scarce so perhaps nothing illegal did happen, but it is illegal to produce, distribute and possess indecent images of someone under 18. It seems odd that with the age of consent being 16 having a full blown physical relationship would have been fine (legally)
1oldenoughFree MemberHe’s been thrashing it around the old tracks and jumps we made on my parent’s farm for the last 6 months. They’re awesome fun. I know we all turn our noses up at them
Not when used as intended as above, great fun.
Two lads by me were killed on one, the ensuing riots gained national attention. As always everybody elses fault accept themselves and those who bought it for them (family or so they say )oldenoughFree MemberIf you trained and got really fit would you look for a different group of mates to ride with who could keep up with you?
I probably would at least for the majority of rides. In general I like to just ride my bike, no stopping or faffing about. I’ll do this either on my own or with a few friend’s of similar ability. Not seeing the fun in very mixed ability groups, byt each to there own so whatever works.
As someone who’s been the person blowing out his arse whilst the ebikers peddle along effortlessly it’s not the positive thing you seem to think it is.
I’d find it incredibly patronising if someone did this, I know the intention would be supportive but in the moment I’d be asking them to be supportive elsewhere 😂
1oldenoughFree MemberA young Pavarotti sang in a choir at the eisteddfod in 1955. They sure didn’t sing in Welsh, sadly anti English feelings and Welsh nationalism are on the increase but definitely not supported by the majority of the population. A bit strange that there’s so much support for it on here. But then anti English sentiments are often expressed on this forum often from English posters. 🤷♂️
oldenoughFree MemberWhy are you so adamant that people should be allowed to compete in English.
If your read the article the artists aren’t competing they were invited to perform. A huge difference.
She said the duo understood the language policy in terms of competing, but not in the context of inviting artists to perform, especially if the organisation was already aware of their lyrics.
oldenoughFree MemberYou’ll struggle to get a new bike with the spec you want for £1500. Probably stuck looking at s/h.

They’re their hills and they can call them what they like.”</span>
I’m Welsh so one of “they” nobody asked me or anyone else it was just decided ☹
<span style=”color: #000000; font-family: Roboto, ‘Helvetica Neue’, Arial, ‘Noto Sans’, sans-serif, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, ‘Segoe UI’, ‘Apple Color Emoji’, ‘Segoe UI Emoji’, ‘Segoe UI Symbol’, ‘Noto Color Emoji’; background-color: #eeeeee;”> “The drive to remove dual-English naming, against the wishes I’d argue of the majority of Welsh, is ugly nationalism, not “heritage preservation”.”</span>
This all day long !!
oldenoughFree Member3-4k – no way I’d be on a Boardman spending that! #bikesnob
I’ve heard this said before. I’ve got 8 all singing and dancing road and mtb’s. But my Boardman ADV 9.0 is the one I’d keep if everything else had to go.
oldenoughFree MemberThe Welsh helpfully keeping English on roadsigns should be reciprocated in border counties… why not? And if not… why should they?
As one of the 83% non Welsh speaking Welsh having road signs in English is pretty handy. The number of Welsh speakers who can’t comprehend English is such a small number it’s impossible to but a statistic to it. No reason whatever for signs over the border to be bi lingual.
there are remarkably few places with French names in England
Got one here in S.Wales Fleur-de-lis originally lys. The village was given the name by French Huguenots who settled there escaping persecution. Not without controversy though, some people feel it should revert back to its perhaps original name of Trelyn.
The actual locals though just call it Flower, never by anyone
blodeuyn.1oldenoughFree MemberMore people are speaking Welsh in Wales,
Not actually true, and in SE Wales where I was born and live the figure is much lower. But there’s a vocal Welsh speaking minority who think the speak for everyone Welsh person. At the end of the day
Bannau Brycheiniog or Brecon Beacons makes no difference to me the’re the same mountains that I love to visit every chance I get.A
oldenoughFree MemberTo the OP, just go camping, get on with your life and stop reading this thread.
+1
oldenoughFree Member@bertie bassett – can you please explain why he would be doing this?
Please don’t, just bore of instead.
oldenoughFree MemberI’ve had front mech excess cable catching on the crank do this, easiest fix ever 😂
oldenoughFree MemberAt that price I’d avoid disc brakes, there’s loads of lightly used post lock down bikes out there at the moment. First page of an eBay search showes this but there’s hundreds of others.

1oldenoughFree MemberSimply not true. A bike weighing 2kg less will in no way be “significantly” faster.
Maybe not under laboratory conditions, but in reel world it will feel like it is. I’ve tried riding heavier bikes and they do nothing for me. It’s always a default back to light and lively.
2oldenoughFree MemberOf course he won’t change if elected. The only difference in having Starmer Labour Party in power is they won’t do as much crap as the tory party has over last 12 years. If won’t be drastically better but it won’t be as bad.
I’ll take that. The truth is many people don’t want dramatic change, they just want this current bunch of tories gone, just competent government. Slightly right or left of centre doesn’t really matter to much.
oldenoughFree MemberNot only are you taking up an unnecessary place they can actually see from your records lying.
Overall no more space than if the op had gone there in the first place. And who’s to say it hasn’t been “reinjured” again the day before. Obviously not ideal, but what is with the NHS.
oldenoughFree MemberCouldn’t you get a ‘new’ thumb injury less than 2 weeks old?
This.
I presented my 3yr old knee injury as a “new” injury. Turned out it was a ACL tear that needed surgery. Just go to AE and say you did it yesterday.oldenoughFree MemberI wonder if those most aggressively protesting/rioting would be happy with the increased taxes/immigration needed to pay for their pensions in years to come 🤔🤔
oldenoughFree MemberI was going to average the times for each event and give that event a score. This will stop someone winning the cycling by minutes and then no-one being able to catch up in all other events.
I’d do this. Try not to overthink things, it would be impossible to be totally fair with a range of size and mixed sex teams.
1oldenoughFree MemberI believe Ksyrium Exalith to be the best aluminium road wheels ever made.
Of which I have a pair not being used at the moment.
