I did the return journey on a narrowboat earlier this summer, and I’m almost certain that you can, apart from possibly a short section leading into Whitchurch. Strava Heatmap seems to suggest there’s a route all the way though. You might want to avoid the tunnels if you haven’t got decent lights though.
I’ve just got my second MX3, running an XT mech. I’m also adding the RAD cage, hoping that it improves shifting and longevity. The worn cassette is going on another bike where I imagine it will stay for a few years.
ah shame, I copied the link from my googlephotos into tinyurl. seems to work fine for me. I’ll send it you if you like. It’s only a strava heatmap from Carsington to WB so it’s pretty easy to find.
A tremendous amount of good riding to be had on this map (and beyond). Maybe one day I’ll label it all, although all the good off-road bits are fairly easy to see here. Get in touch if you need if you need higher res or further guidance.
I think mine wasn’t too bad but it healed pretty fast. I was back on a bike after 18 days and commuting regularly after 21. I was back on the MTB after 28 days. I was able to get rid of the sling after a day or two, and just kept my hand in my pocket.
Does slamming the cleats in the forward position help? I’d imagine that to be a bit better than slammed all the way back, and inboard, which is how I have them.
I like the new bits of the Marin trail
Penmachno has always been a great favourite
Drum descent is a near 4-mile-long hoon. Not particularly demanding but great fun.
Llyn Cowlyd loop for something a bit more natural and spectacular, although I think there’s a 300m tarmac drop
Snowdon Ranger is a must
There is so much more to Dyfi than Climach-x. Personally I’d spend the entire time in that forest.
I’m now on my 3rd PF bb after two Enduro BBs didn’t last very long. No creaks though whilst the bearings were still intact. I’ve just replaced with a cheapo shimano, and I’ll be a bit more careful to avoid the BB area and cable routing holes if I’m hosing it down.
I’m running oval n/w 34T with a 11-42 sunrace MX3 cassette
CCDB due a service but it’s been faultless so far.
Wheels aren’t the greatest but they came along at the right time at the right price. I still like the look of them and they’ve not exploded yet.
I don’t know if that’s a bargain in most people’s eyes! And it’s still a lot more than I paid for my 2nd hand 2015 T275c. They are absolutely wonderful though
