The best bit about Strava is when it’s dismissed by the heathen on the basis of wind/type of bike/GPS drift/part of commute/phone OS/ground conditions/traffic lights……

I got my NN seated 1st time on my 521s (with Stan’s strips) but then had a nightmare every subsequent attempt. I couldn’t even get the bloody thing off one rim without resorting to cutting it off. A mate knocked up a ghetto inflator, and he also has a knack of being able to pull the sidewalls away from each other to allow the air to enter. We also found that 40psi in the inflator is not always enough, but he hasn’t failed when running 50psi

No such issues with SG Hans Dampfs. a pack pump does the job.

yeah I’m happy that I can get on this without needing new rims or tyres. still think it’s a great idea, not that I’m fit to polish Sam’s saddle.

Anyone out there already running low pressures thinking this is a waste of money?

I had a similar experience, lost 4-5kg – down to 58kg (!), post-infection IBS. Staying properly hydrated was difficult. Horrible mouthfeel for weeks. Felt weak. I usually do 4-8 hrs a week. I did quite a few big rides when I perhaps shouldn’t have done. I tried to limit certain foods (cereals, fructose-rich stuff, no idea if it made a difference) and eventually was able to start eating a bit more than normal. The muscle mass came back very quickly though.

I’ve got that Puky too. Great for a few flat miles. Easy to tug up hills. Pretty lethal when it points downhill though because of no fork rake (and no brakes obviously)

What do you all think of Cadair Idris and Pont Scethin as an alternative to what’s already been mentioned?

I bought two USE shims so that the join between them didn’t end up on a weld for the brace between the ST and TT, and to give me >110mm

Bit of a hassle to get them out of the ST though, and get them to sit in the right place before clamping

The prototype 29er versions won masters cat and 16th in Elites at Afan UKGE but I’m guessing that’s all they are for now – prototypes, until the next batch of 26ers are out

Pretty sure you could fit in the Llanberis path to the top of Snowdon and back down via the Rangers path and Telegraph Valley. Bit of a push up but a cracking ride down.

I went 07,08,09. Fabulous, very relaxed. Great stages. Good food and beer, if not exactly cheap. Great for kids. Enjoyment depends on the weather somewhat obviously and it absolutely **** it down the first two years I went iirc. Proximity to the camping area depends on when you arrive and a dose of luck but we’re not talking Glastonbury here ffs. It’s a very small festival in a beautiful site. I’d take the bike though and head to the hills above the site because there’s some great riding to be had.

I’ve heard that leak on two or three sets of elixir 5s. I replaced the internals on one lever, but the noise was still there. It still performs fine a year later.

Are you absolutely sure that you’ve bled correctly with the port at the top of the system? Did you cycle the lever 10 times as you held it under vacuum? are they tiny little bubbles or big (>1mm) ones?

The avid one was a smidge too big ime and resulted in not quite enough fluid in the system, so we just pulled it out a little until the pistons were able to close a little more
