I’ve been on two Freemotion tours. The ‘No Sherpa’ tour was an absolute rock fest with lots of hike a bike (Niko’s very long video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QabfZHmCu2g), and another much mellower tour through the ‘Green North’ (NoPro edit: https://youtu.be/LkNH0y1r5Ng)

Use light tyres at Sherwood pines, and pedal like f***.

There’s some stuff close to Mansfield, but I’ve heard it’s been torn down recently . I’d add that the Watchwood Plantation is only 15 minutes further South than Pines from Mansfield and is definately worth a look if you have a spare hour or two.

The Papagayo beaches are wonderful. I love Famara too. Cesar’s house is worth a look. Drive around aimlessly during the golden hours.

I’m a safety adviser for an engineering department at an University. It’s by turns fascinating, horrifying, frustrating and hilarious. It’s definitely not for everyone but it suits sciency and engineering types who can argue rationally with people who think they are being told that what they do “isn’t safe”, rather than “you’re not following company policy”. I’m doing my NEBOSH diploma at the moment and there’s been a few times when I thought about jacking it all in, partly due to course providers and partly circumstances at work. But if there is serious and tangible committment from senior leadership that they want to excel in safety, then you’ll be fine. Don’t even bother if you have any doubts about this, but as has been said you’ll never be struggling to find work elsewhere.

carbine/tracer is a bit short (455/460 in large) compared to the 290 (470 in large)
    a mate hates his sentinel
    another mate loves his switch9er
another mate loves his 275 and is considering another
    I was v tempted by a 290 but I got a carbine

Glad you appear to have come throuygh relatively unscathed, but just to reiterate – Tell the Police!

Take good Photos of everything. Especially the abrasions, and the bruising as it develops.

Make sure you get Leigh Day on the case.

I managed to salvage a pair once. I remember a fair bit of silicone grease being involved to clean and lube the pistons. I’d squeeze the levers out and paint lube on with a cotton bud. They’re still going strong today.

I think it really depends on the specific composition, nature and condition of the soffits. You might need someone else to do a survey first to establish this, before deciding on next steps.

    see Paragraph 50
    http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/priced/l143.pdf

    Then P59:
The following work activities will not normally be NNLW:
Removal of asbestos cement products, (eg roof sheeting and rainwater goods)
provided the material is carefully handled/removed without breaking up; this
includes work with asbestos cement which is weathered but not otherwise
    substantially damaged.
Maintenance work involving asbestos cement products (eg on roof sheeting and
    rainwater goods).
Removal of small areas of textured decorative coatings using gel/steam, to
support other activities such as installation/replacement of smoke alarms and
    light fittings.
Removal without deterioration, of textured decorative coatings (eg if the backing
board is carefully cut around to achieve virtually intact removal).
Drilling of textured decorative coatings for installation of fixtures/fittings.
Encapsulation and sealing-in work on ACMs that are in good condition (eg
    repairing damaged sealing material).
Removal and reattachment of loosely fixed (eg screwed) AIB panels in order to
gain access to areas for other maintenance activities (eg under a bath to carry
out pipework maintenance, or for access to a ceiling void for repair of lighting).
    Painting/repainting AIB.

@ the00 – it fits fine in a boost lyrik 29, off a 25mm rim, and, to my delight, with the mudhugger I used to have on my old 650b pikes

@ andy brad – no. they were £42 from our German friends

MM SG soft Front and Rear all year round.

I drop pressure in the rear to 20-22psi for slopping about in the woods.  But I’ll increase pressure up to 30 if I’m on a rockier ride, eg peak district/ proper mountains.  I might even get up to 40psi if I have to use them for commuting, and I can manage a steady 27kph, traffic lights permitting

I love my large SL carbine in grey/black.  I’ve done about 1000 miles on it.  I’m 5’9ish.  Reach isn’t mega long, but it was 40mm longer than my old bike, and I think it’s close to perfect.  I use a 170mm dropper with about 10mm of post body showing.

it’s an awful lot of bike.  33lbs with SG marys.  However, it is so much better than the M 2015 tracer I had.  MUCH stiffer and the JS enduro link is much better suited to chunky stuff.  The tracer didn’t use its travel all that well.  I’d expect the Primer to be somewhat similar in that regard – quick to use a big chunk of travel before ramping up too soon.

Buy the primer if you just need an amazing trail bike.

Buy the carbine if you want to race enduro, open up ALL of the lines and enjoy going really ridiculously fast over everything, and you don’t mind lugging the heft around.

My mate’s SB6 is nicer in many ways, exquisite almost, but I definitely wouldn’t have one over my carbine

It’s the average of your 100 top segment pr scores (not including descents steeper than -1%)

If you’re 1st out of 10, your pr score is 90.00

    1st out of 10,000 gives you 99.99

So if your vv score is 90, then you’ll typically be in the quickest 10% on your 100 best efforts

You can work out a vv score which includes proper mtb descent segments manually by exporting the csv and taking the average

I did the No Sherpa tour from Ayacata to Arguineguin .  Pretty good if a little bitty.  Plenty of sections where walking was recommended, if not mandatory.  Some fabulous sections.  Some dull fire road stuff too, but also some pretty good fast blasts.  Looks like they’ve refreshed all the tours this year.   PM for vids and strava deets

I’ve only ridden my mate’s up and down a very short descent in the woods.  His has SG Mary/razor, a 36 and an X2.

I’d gone off Yeti a bit but it’s a very, very lovely bike.  Beautiful inside and out.  I like the suspension design.  Switch is neat and tidy but he hasn’t yet had to deal with much mud.  I’ve got no idea what it’s like through rough stuff but it went uphill quickly.  No bob.  But isn’t that true of pretty much everything these days.

there is slop from the off on the hanger mount.  Largely F&F for 800+ miles, but it started playing up recently, and the upper jockey has shat itself, and the cage was ripped open. The bearing inner has seized onto the bolt.

It depends what you mean by a day’s riding…

Llyn Cowlyd route is dry and running very nicely at the moment, so you could do that along with Gwydir Mawr (Marin)

Can’t go wrong with any of these imho

I’ve done it twice and really enjoyed it. Big day out.  A couple of murderous pushes.  Three great descents. Haven’t done anything else that I could compare it to in the area but it’s easily as good as anything in the Peak District
