    @ Binners

I haven’t waded through this entire thread, but I think your first post was absolutely spot on, and as someone who believes that Margaret Thatcher was our greatest 20th century prime minister, it isn’t often I agree with you. :-)

Just bookmarked this thread and I’ll check out the albums later. Thanks guys.

Have I missed something here? For me, at least, a “complete” album is one where every single track is worth a serious listen. Most of my extensive collection (on flac, BTW) comprises albums where I only ever listen to a couple of tracks.

Hermes if the size conforms to their requirements, otherwise try ipost (sent a frame with them recently). Avoid Royal Mail at all costs!

I wouldn’t pay extra for smart features

Don’t these come as standard now on high end TVs? You’d be hard pressed to find one without them, I think!

+1 for Blood On The Tracks, but moving forward, I really like The Suburbs by Arcade Fire.

OP, sounds like you’ve been screwed on this one. Definitely seek redress through PayPal.

After many years of buying bike parts and HiFi online I’ve realised that my perception of ‘excellent condition’, ‘like new’ and ‘mint’ are not those of the average seller and am now very wary, yet still occasionally get caught out!

Publish or die. Safe in the knowledge that the BBC will do an article on your work however nonsensical, contrived, biased or worthless your publication.

+1 to that. I’m even having doubts now about the integrity of the Today programme on Radio 4.

    It’s more of a challenge.

Yes, exactly what most uninformed non-runners believe.

Why is the marathon such a holy grail for non runners? Beats me! Most competitive club road runners I know tend to use their 10K times as a yardstick to judge themselves and others by.

Suffering atrocities was not exclusive to the Jews. I recently read “World War Two” by Anthony Beever and was shocked to discover that of the estimated 45 million civilian deaths, the majority were as a result of deliberate starvation by occupying forces.

    Synthetic fabrics are solid fibres

Not necessarily, they can have a hollow core, for example.

Synthetic fabrics are solid fibres and cannot absorb anything (which is why they do not “wick”)

Moisture transportation (wicking) through a fabric is not necessarily dependent on the absorption properties of a fibre.

I’ve just read Red or Dead by David Peace. A fabulous read for those of us who were there in the 60s/70s, when the league was populated with British players. The FA Cup really meant something then, but – for me at least – it doesn’t now.

…. and then there’s CCA (copper coated aluminium) Cat6, which is cheap, or solid copper core CCA. I used Excel Cat6 cable and modules – top quality stuff – IMHO.

Sorry, my phone changed a word to make me look silly (again!), that should be solid copper core cable.

I’d buy CAT6 FWIW. The price difference is negligible.

    Yes, that’s what I did.

    Sorry, what was “invented”?
UKIP have acknowledged the original story and dropped the Lynton Yates as a candidate.
If it was invented then surely they might have said something?

Hey, I didn’t even read the OP’s post, never mind the thread :D, I’m just trying to wind up the socialistrackworld contingent. UKip now speak for the working class folk in my northern town, and Labour don’t anymore. Lucky for me, I live out in the country.

UKIP is essentially a party that try to voice out something that both the above refused to acknowledge from the voters perspective. May it be immigrations or getting out of EU.

Exactly, and this is why the established parties are worried enough to have to invent the sort of scare stories posted at the start of this thread. I had a Labour flyer through my letterbox yesterday claiming UKip would privatise health care – which shows how worried they are that about UKip, and how much trouble they are in with Wallace at the helm. I can’t wait for May, it should be fun. BTW, UKip.would get my vote if we didn’t have a good Tory MP in our constituency. :D

So are any ‘bamboo’ jerseys actually made in that way?

I haven’t seen any cycling specific garments, but they are available online as generic thermal underwear.

    oldboy

I’m asking if bamboo is actually used as is so that it is legitimately a bamboo jersey, not just a synthetic jersey made with viscose that came from bamboo – eg not fundamentally chemically altered.

Yes, if bamboo is used as is, as you say, it would certainly be a bamboo jersey.

“If the bamboo fibre has been turned into viscose rayon, as the product information suggests, then it has non of the anti-bacterial properties inherent in the natural fibre. Sorry! “

If that’s the case why is this written in the item description?
Are they trying to hoodwink us?

    Yes.

So is any clothing made from bamboo fibre (not viscose)? If not, it’d be interesting to hear the ASA’s take on this

Not quite sure what you are asking here, but any garment manufactured from unadulterated bamboo fibre would exhibit all the inherent properties of the fibre. If it has been converted into viscose rayon then it would not, and therefore bamboo should not appear on the garment label.

If you want to be petty.

Why petty? Once bamboo has been turned into viscose it isn’t bamboo at all. Any cellulosic material can be turned into viscose, typically wood pulp. Unfortunately, unlike the USA, the UK seems to let these shyster get away with this sort of nonsense.

I hate having to pay for air conditioning in a new car. I comes as standard now on the sort of cars I tend to buy and comes on automatically on some heater/fan settings. Definitely not necessary in the UK is my opinion – FWIW!

I knew Ron Hill when he was still one of the world’s greatest distance runners, and went on to do business with his sportswear company. When he came over we used to do a five mile run together before lunch at the local pub. Happy days!

Had serious freezing issues with my 2012 Nexus 7, and it wouldn’t play YouTube videos without constantly buffering. Not recommended, sorry!
