I was once in this game. The fabrics they are using cannot have cost more much than about £2-5/sq m, so work out for yourself where the mark up is.

Yuk! Haven’t eaten that disgusting, congealed dairy fat for 25 years.

On my new rigid 29er (absolutely love the simplicity of it!), 30t upfront and 11-36 XT with SS 40t expander works for me in West Yorkshire’s hilly terrain.

Libdem vote totally wasted in Burnley. You might as well have
given it to the Muslim candidate (whoever he is), who no doubt spent the last couple of months collecting sack-fulls of blank postal ballot papers!

Quite a few years ago a clubmate of mine, and an international runner, died in his sleep after winning two races in the same weekend. These things just happen!

OK, if the viewing was hurried then you have a right to be a bit unhappy, but once you start making offers I think you will find they have your full attention!

If you are genuinely interested you need to put an offer in at the price you think it’s worth, and see where it goes.

They probably think you are a just another time waster if all you want to do is talk about it – sorry!

Do not, under any circumstances by anything made by Epsom

Totally agree. I bought an Epson thinking separate ink cartridges would mean great savings on the colours, as I mostly print B&W. Stupid me! When a cartridge runs out it renders the rest of them as “unrecognised” or something similar. B&W laser for me next.

Great looking bike! Just had my Fortitude Race powder-coated gloss black and was debating between mid grey and dark grey decals. Seeing yours kind of settles it, thanks

Orwell Insurance Services came up with the best deal for me. support@oisonline.co.uk. Some of the quotes I received elsewhere were astronomical.

    In Huddersfield area BTW.

I guess you must be in the sub £250K band, because the market here for more expensive homes had been stagnant for a few years, hence all the unsold properties you refer to. I know, because my other house is one of them :(

Definitely a month too early for hawthorn up here in sunny Yorkshire. Remember the old country saying; “ne’er cast a clout ’til May be out” – May being the hawthorn or mayflower, not the month.

+1 for marky29er. Surprised the usual middle class, bien pensant, hand-wringing, liberal STW brigade haven’t reached for the report button, though :-)

    32 x 10-42 sram, all bases covered

If the magic word was Shimano, rather than SRAM, all 1x questions on here would be answered at a stroke, I think. Well, it would for me, at least.

I was running my old 26″ with a 32t and 11-34. I’ve now graduated to 29″ with a 30t and 11-36 and it’s almost the same. The only time I spin out is downhill on the road, so that doesn’t bother me, and if I spin out downhill offroad I’m going too fast for my limited abilities :-)

Private Eye did a great piece on internet forums after the last “mystery” plane crash, and this one beats their satirical one by a mile! :-)

The Today programme on R4 this morning went over to their “reporter on the scene”, who then spent two minutes describing search helicopters arriving, accompanied by the sound of them doing just that. I switched the radio off. If R4 delivers this sort of trash tabloid style reporting, what hope is there for the rest of the BBC?

Wear comfortable shoes, take your own food and water and just wander about the place, it’s absolutely beautiful. Otherwise, eat and drink well away from the tourist traps, and don’t even think about ordering anything at an outdoor table in the centre, unless money means nothing to you. It’s a wonderful place and well worth a day visit.

You want to change up and down at the same time?
You’ll end up in the same gear…
You do know you can shift up and down with your thumb don’t you.

OK, this is STW, so I should have know I’d get this! :-).

Getting rid of the front derailed routing is a good move. I’m a big rigid fan and, for me at least, it’s all about simplicity. Might be seriously tempted.

Ed’s brother is a senior exec at PIMCO the world’s largest bond fund, makes about £5m a year.
Just the sort of person a party which purports to represent ordinary working people should have as their leader/chancellor.

Ernie, I never thought I’d agree with you, ever.

    Go for it, OP!

I haven’t eaten meat since 1980 and, trust me, it isn’t an essential dietary requirement if you eat an otherwise well balanced diet. I raced (running) at a good club level as a vegetarian. Ignore the bacon and pie boys on here :-)

Same experience here. Furnished, unoccupied house. Informed the licence people of this fact and have received threatening letter addressed to “the legal occupier” ever since. How they are going to get the legal occupier of an unoccupied house into court beats me!

I miss you too oldboy, but I always told you that when Vegas called, I’d answer.
Toodooloo, my sweet potato! It was a lot of fun.

Thank you for that unkind comment, Pimpchild. FYI she went back to her childhood sweetheart.

How did the top race guys in the 90s and early 2000s manage without all this stuff? I’m with the OP on this one, although you’d be hard pressed to buy a new bike now without some of those features.

The Stoker was all sold out in Huddersfield this afternoon.
