Thanks, Taff. That I can understand, but the pic in the mag showed it oozing grease!

Great thread – not many short seatposts here !!

I’m no engineer, but I guess that running a 31.6mm dia 410mm seat post at its limit will be safer than, say, a 27.0mm dia post at the same extension – all other criteria being equal, that is.

    Larger ‘women’s geometry’ frame?

    I don’t think so.

No, I like running a long seatpost. When I first started in this game the bike shop advised me to run the smallest frame I could get away with, and I still see no reason to question that advice.

What about freaks like me with long legs and a relatively short body? It has to be a long seatpost on a short toptube frame. Not quite up to the maximum mark on a 410mm Thomson, though!

My Hei Hei in an earlier incarnation but not too different from today:

Gunz, I too have an old Hei Hei Ti – top frame, man!

Currently building up a new Litespeed Ti hardtail.

Join AVForums. It’s a great place to buy/sell this sort of stuff, although their trading rules are really strict.

Jonny, I have had so much conflicting info on this from bike shops (on-line I grant you!) that I’m not surprised you were misled.

I may now just buy the SID or REBA with crown lockout and sell my unused Poploc.

damn, wish id have got the reba’s now that came with a pushloc and 50 quid cheaper

Jonny, where was the Reba with Pushloc advertised please – I haven’t come across one?

EDIT: Ignore that – I found it, thanks.

It doesn’t look like there is any means of attaching the cable (ie: grub screw etc). So the question is – irrespective of the cost of the remote device – how much to convert the fork?

Sorry, jonny-m, but couldn’t see the pics.

jonny m, just to be sure – since I haven’t actually bought my forks yet – did you buy the Reba RLT 120mm or the Sid RLT 120mm?

Thanks, Slinky. I just happen to have an unused remote Poploc that I acquired in an exchange deal some while ago and was hoping to use it on my next forks. I may do what you suggest using the crown lockout and see how it goes.

So you bought the SID, then? That was going to be my choice too, but I was told that the 120mm version SID definately wouldn’t work with a Poploc, which is why I’m now looking at the REBA 120mm.

    I’m getting confused here!!

Any one else shed any light on this. I was told last week when I bought the very same fork that a pop lock remote would go straight on without any extra bits?

I take it from this that when you got the fork the Poploc wouldn’t fit – is that the case?

    Thanks, guys, that’s very useful.

Come on, guys, can anyone give me an answer?

I once had a period of breathlessness, which turned out to be caused by diet-related anaemia – a course of iron tablets sorted it. My advice would be to see a doctor and if you check out OK then it’s simply a fitness issue, I guess.

    V nice!

I guess you’d have bought an OCOEE if youd wanted a 100mm fork for defo, and the OBED has definitely got the geometry to work well with a 120mm fork…

120mm SID’s for cheap from On One at the moment, SID RLT Ti’s the pick of the bunch too for v cheap. Buy the 120mm version and if it does feel too slack, then you can get them spaced down to 100mm. If you buy the 100mm version it can’t be lengthened, so silly not to go for the 120!

FWIW I’m riding a Genesis Altitude Ti (similar geometry and design though far eastern made) with a 120mm Reba Team at the moment and it’s ace!

That’s well worth knowing, thanks. I’ll check out the On One pages.

It’s a Litespeed Obed size medium, thanks. This will be my second titanium frame – not to everyone’s liking, I guess – but I’m a big fan.
