BT probably haven’t got a system in place for taking it back, as it would probably cost almost the net value of the item if they did. Put it in a cupboard and if they haven’t contacted you in three months assume it’s yours.
I’m currently installing Cat6 throughout the house. It isn’t much more expensive than Cat5e now. OK, it does require extra care, but may be a better bet in the long term.
Dewsbury and Batley areas are a little different, but have lots of old railway tracks converted to cycle trails. Not my idea of a good time, but OK for the wife and kids. Not recommended after dark!
Hey, I was in a 4 star hotel in Florence and, after a night out, got off the lift on the wrong floor and my key opened the room positioned the same as mine on the floor below. The gorilla in the room wasn’t too pleased! :-)
Slightly off topic, but I left university teaching recently because of the constant pressure to research/publish, when all I wanted was to do the best for my undergraduate students. Apparently that doesn’t figure too highly in the general scheme of thing anymore. At my university teaching came a very poor second to research. I was once even accused of overteaching by my line manager!
Last time I used a Ford dealer for servicing they were telling everyone that Ford recommended annual brake fluid replacement. The women in front of me at the service desk fell for it straight away when the word safety was mentioned!
I can’t believe this thread! What sort of packaged, processed, sugar and fat rich, garbage are you all buying to rack up those sorts of numbers at the checkout?
Thanks, alanl, a good point well made – I’ll leave some heat on then instead! On the other hand, have you had any experience with anti-freeze additives? Surely someone must use them.
Just checked my unoccupied house insurance (which costs a small fortune, BTW!). States that the CH must be drained October to April or left on a low setting. So draining it is then!
It wouldn’t be entirely wasted as the antifreeze also contains a corrosion inhibitor which I would have to add when refilling the system anyway, but I take your point, thanks. The hot and cold water is another issue I have to tackle.
Most store display TVs have their picture set to “shop mode” which makes their colours very bright and exciting. A properly calibrated set will appear dull by comparison. Do not fall for this trick. Put your trust in reviews from AVForums and similar sources and buy your chosen TV irrespective of how it might appear in the shop. Then calibrate the picture at home, taking advice from forum members, many of whom use professional calibration equipment.
+1 for Aldi’s gloves – they’re very good! I keep a spair pair in the car for those really icy winter mornings, as the gel pads are really grippy on the stearing wheel.
In the 70s this guy was already a top long distance fell racer and was a member of Clayton le Moors Harriers, long before he even got into cycling. R.I.P.
Applied for £10000 worth and only got £750. There was no point holding on to such a small number of shares, so just banked a tidy £265 profit. Thank you David, George, Vince et al.
Get a reliable builder to sort ALL of it. I wouldn’t have those damp “specialists” anywhere near the place. And those meters would find damp in the sahara! Scam.
I wouldn’t take the risk, having paid upfront for expensive goods where the company has gone under before delivery was made. Got my money back from the credit card company without any problems. I would find another firm who take card payment, even if it means paying a small surcharge.
