Might be redundant in these days of combo-boilers but have you checked the airing cupboard / any radiant heat sources? Known many a naughty kitty go missing & turn up in the airing cupboard! Good luck finding him / her :D

Think they offer 180 as an upgrade in the purchase process??

After playing with the idea of a fatty for years & returning to the forum tonight for the first time in ages, I found this thread. Interesting read. NEVER EVER LOOK AT NEW BIKES IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THE A.M. The part of your brain that says ‘you can only ride one at a time’ is very much asleep! Trigger pulled, Fatty Trail ordered! 8O

HOW LONG TILL THE BUYERS REMORSE KICKS IN?? :D

Well what do expect, that’s the reason bought ‘dull’ high mpg mile munchers in the first place isn’t it? If you have to rag the tits off it mpg goes down and you might as well have saved yer money and bought a petrol instead….

I did say now and then :D I drive an ‘oiler’ too FWIW

The trouble with diesels/DPF etc is that the owners baby them about everywhere trying to eek out their diesel for every mpg they can get. This fills the EGR with sludge and stops it opening and closing correctly and also does for the DPF prematurely. MOT is the only time a lot of diesel vehicles see anywhere the limiter. They should be driven at motorway speeds for 15/20 minutes at least every 1000m. The times it has taken me a good 15 minutes to get a diesel through the smoke test where i’ve had to hang the back of the car out of the workshop and repeatedly cane the t*ts off of it to clear the system you would not believe. Every now and then, where safe and appropriate – you NEED to ‘drive it like you stole it’

Just bought one, having cut my teeth on film SLR many years ago. Sure the kit lens isn’t the best but it’ll let you get a feeling for the format and inform you enough as to whether you wish to go further or not.

Orange did the same to me some years ago with a new phone – conscience got the better of me so I rang and told them. Guy at customer services told me ‘As far as we are concerned Mr Oink – we have only delivered you one’ Result, sold on the ‘Bay for £150! :D

Has anyone/does anyone ever get to the point where they feel like they just can’t be arsed anymore? What stops you?

Having to go through this 3 times a week for 5 ish hours a time…

Oh, and being Insulin dependant diabetic for 40+ years and starting to reap all the good things ‘they’ said would come back to bite me on the ass if I didn’t look after myself! Not looking for pity, just think it’d be easier to shuffle off. Just the fact that my parents are still around stops me. Don’t enjoy anything anymore. Deffo DNR if I ever get sent for my double transplant.

All Ford TDCI’s were to be avoided when they were first introduced – we were replacing pumps, fuel rails and injectors faster than Delphi could produce them!

VOSA mantra is ‘Pass and advise’ – As the lecturer on our course as fresh MOT’ers put it ‘If servicing standards are at nose height, then MOT standards are the skirting board’ Done correctly, your car really shouldn’t be on the road if it fails*

As previously suggested – find the radiator fan switch, remove the plug and short the two wires to check the fan cuts in. (The garage should have checked that though when they refilled the system, water pump? – have come across some horrific ones in my time with plastic impellers that disintegrate with time – old shape Mondeo V6 springs to mind!)

The two fans – One is for the A/C and will be permanently on when it is, the other is the radiator fan that switches in and out according to engine tempreature. Instead of just replacing the expansion tank, I’d be looking at why it failed? Faulty/stuck thermostat? These should always be replaced after a cooling system issue for the sake of a few extra £’s IMO (Vehicle Tech)

I may be getting an important call today, regarding my father possibly getting admitted to hospital for kidney function tests. Every time the phone rings I’m startled and wondering is this the call with some news?

Hope he’s ok – I have end stage kidney failure, Dialysis 3 times a week. Not fun :(

And of course, you can get your vehicle MOT’d up to one calendar month before the old ticket is about to expire (giving you 13 months ticket effectively) so you aren’t ‘balls to the wall’ at the last minute…

As has been said, my condolences oldgit, sad times indeed. He looks so much like our old dog ‘Flush’ (Mum named him!). When i used to sit at the bottom of the stairs to put my shoes on he’d manage to squeeze himself onto the bottom stair underneath your legs which he still did to the end, although by that time he’d only get one back/front leg on – the other two on the floor propping him up! He ate a CD of mine, a pair of DM steel toecaps (not completely), a headphone cable and one morning sauntered into my bedroom to say hi, looked at me, p155ed on the floor then spun round and left. Always there at the back door when I came home at stupid o’clock pleased to see me with his tail wagging. He was my friend because he wanted to be, not for what he could get from me (Except biscuits, bones, squeaky toys etc.) RIP Toby – gone but I’m sure never forgotten.

Can you not get a pro in like Hose Doctor to fabricate you one? I used to work for ford (Tech) and back order parts can take forever. Sorry to make things worse, not my intention!

Go to A and E. They’ll scrub it out (Not pleasant) and then cover it completely with a transparent waterproof adhesive dressing that will enable you to view with fascination as it all scabs up and heals! (M/Cycle accident 20 odd years ago – no road rash evidence)

I have taken 2 pets for this  It’s the hardest thing to do and both times I wailed like a baby – it’s realy going to hurt but it’s for the best I think from what you have described. I know it sounds glib but you will gain some comfort as you grieve knowing you did all you could when your pal needed you. All the best fella.

It’s hospital prescribed though and far from turning me into some athletic god, it just stops me from colapsing into a crumpled heap after walking up the stairs. I do have end stage kidney disease though (Dialysis three times a week – sucks nuts)
