Lived here since ’84. As has been said, theres worse places. I’m originally from Basingstoke and I don’t think I have a Bristolian accent – until I hear myself on an answerphone message! 8O It’s all right. Great places to eat. The Fleece & Firkin for live music and lots of Banksy artwork all over the city if thats your thing. Two footie teams, City or Rovers. Pick one. Never the twain shall meet!!

When you change a taper wheel bearing in a car you ALWAYS replace the races at the same time! Simple answer – you ‘could’. Is it a good idea seeing that the old bearings would have worn the cups? No :-)

It always cracks me up how people will use £10 of tools on a £2k bike?? (I am a vehicle tech though with upwards of £18k invested in Snap-On etc) You really do get what you pay for in tools. Buy cheap, Buy twice or thrice etc… You tend to take better care of something you have paid sensible money for. No1 tool to buy? A decent tongue wrench (Norbar etc) Nothing grinds my gears like seeing someone use a a tool that wasn’t designed for that puprpose (Screwdriver as a chisel etc) Makes my blood boil!

Personally I’d farm it out to your LBS and let them have the ball ache. Give them a bell and see how much a service runs to and then weigh that up to the price of a new one I guess :-)

They’re designed to do that so you go ‘Ooo!, I must remember my extra length whilst I turn’ Not really relevant with a bike rack & highly annoying I guess. As for turning it off/down, maybe a dealer can wave the VAG at it??

Is that remap only or have you had other upgrades to cope with extra torque etc…?

Thats the remap, K&N and a little brake work. The thing flys and weighs about as much as a basket of soup! :D

The bike looks like a hoot and a holler though. is it weighty?

Haven’t weighed it per se but it doesn’t feel much worse than my 456 tbh

Did you forgot to tighten the brake mounts ?

    howsyourdad1 – Member
Oh please I’m eating breakfast , and your brakes are at a very jaunty angle.

As fitted by PX – haven’t moved yet!

Regarding the Mini, the 326 is the Ft/lbs torque figure post remap – 240bhp, 326Ft/lbs or 444Nm :D
As for the reg plate solamanda, the Mrs pointed that out and said It might be an idea to remove it!

Another problem with space savers is they are rarely checked on service, bar for their physical presence. No tech Ive ever met or worked with wants too have to dig past dirty gym clothes, mouldy food, knickers (Yes!), Little ‘uns pushchair etc to get to it when you’ve had to spend 15 minutes hunting for the locking wheel nut key. 60 – 80 psi is about correct for the average. OP should think himself lucky that some bean counter somewhere hadn’t decided he’d be better of with a can of puncture jizz and a woeful compressor! :D

So there are different kinds of direct mount by manufacturer? :/

Happens it is SRAM. 34T ideal – just fancy trying an oval one, maybe I’ll have to go for ali – it probly won’t explode.

Did the OP never try Biopace the first time round? Didn’t work then either!
