Just north of Brechfa (~20miles) is the Cwm Rhaeadr trail – well worth a look – easy climb and fantastic descent

having just gone through all this myself i’m now quite familiar with it all. Being the one who had the work done mind. The party wall award is paid for by the person doing the work. (its usually around £500 per party)

Make sure that when the award is complete and you receive all descriptions/photos of any current issues with your side of the wall that you talk to your neighbour before work starts – they may be able to resolve them with little/no cost to you as the work is carried out.

Its worth doing as it covers all issues that may occur when the building starts – if a neighbour claims a crack appears during/after works done – the award will show if this is indeed true or not, if true then this will need to be fixed at cost of the one doing the building work

You can appoint you own surveyor – you dont have to use the same one that he is using – but at the end of the day they work for the crown and not for you or him, so it doesnt really matter.
The award should also cover when the builders can and cannot work (i.e. sociable hours) and what access may be required to your property if any – in which case what notice is required to be given

when the works are being carried out a building inspector should make frequent visits so if its looks dodgy – they can stop the build (usually it wouldnt get that far as the tech drawings that the surveyors produce are sent to the council first and need to be signed off as safe and viable)

konadad – i think you need to play with your settings – did it come with bloat ware from a provider? My S2’s battery lasts nearly 3 days with moderate use. It only lasts less than a day if i’m playing quake 3 on it for more than a few hours.

i play quake networked against a couple of friends on our phones – how times have changed 😉

pcs at work are for C&C generals, unreal tournament and starcraft 2

Another advantage with discs – especially hydraulics, is that they have a lighter action at the lever – which is great for weaker hands

I have a fair few, most of these are always running in the background and i still get over a days worth of use.

winamp – loud music player and access to shoutcast streams – great for playing music in the background whilst you do other things, and works seamlessly with my bluetooth headphones
quake3 droid – great game and graphics
asphalt 6 – another great game, reasonable graphics
google goggles – for identifying those odd things
kindle app – for reading on the train
bbc news app – for keeping up to date
trillian – all my messenger clients into one location (yahoo, gmail, msn, skype, twitter, etc…) synced with pc
    ebay – obvious
kies air – turns phone into server for downloading stuff to pc /backup/managing via browser
voice commands, esp driving mode – for reading out texts etc whilst driving etc…

lipseal, climbing rope – after a few climbs in wet weather or gritty/sandy locations the rope needs cleaning – this is the easiest way

i wash them on cold and stick them in a pillow case (keeps them together and stops them bashing around/laces getting tangled), not sure if it helps but i’ve always washed rope this way

I use a 35T e13 g-ring and a superstar components XCR Single Ring Chainguide – but as said above and 9 spd ring will work – but you dont need the ramps

i’m using roval traverse ELs and loving them – light (1600g ish) and strong, with DT swiss based hubs, not a fan of mavic wheels as their rear hubs can be problematic

the closer to the bar your bite point is, the less arm pump you’ll get on those long/bumpy descents

Before i got a go pro, i used to use a compact camera strapped to the bars – first wrapping the bars in innertube to try and isolate the vibrations and then using large releasable zip ties, strap the camera on. The footage wasn’t too bad, but having a big soft fork (shiver dc) helped dampen the vibrations…

I went with E-van via compare the market – £700 fully comp, for a £25K van 3L v6, parked on the road and I only have 2 years no claims

all my other quotes were at least £400 more

My fave mount is under the saddle via a rollbar mount on the seatpost, but you can do all sorts with it…

I bought mine (1080) from pinkbike which worked out at about £180, free postage and they marked it as worth £20 ish so didnt get stung for import stuff – I also have the LCD bacpak, which is great for playback in the field and ensuring you have the correct angles – i think it only fits the 1080 version

All the clips in the video are filmed at 720 @ 60fps

if you flip the camera mode to upside down then you can mount the camera upside down and the resulting footage will be right way up – i.e. no software manipulation required

Bought my Go Pro HD from pinkbike for a very small amount – think it worked out at £180 (free shipping). Also have the LCD bacpak so i can preview stuff. Have had loads of massive crashes on it and its not suffered at all.

    Lots of recent footage here

I believe the Go pro 1080 is the only one you can add bacpacs to – i.e. lcd screen or extra battery

also, those vids were filmed at 720 @ 60fps

Have a vito dualiner, the 200bhp one. 4 years old, 90K miles, no real issues. I have the long one with 6 seats, takes 5 bikes without taking wheels off or 6 with 2 bikes losing front wheels.
also has a detachable towbar for a rack should i need it.

with 6 people, bikes and kit, it still out performs most cars and fuel economy only drops to 25ish when i floor it everywhere (35-40mpg otherwise)

AC as standard and a few toys, mine has sunroof/dvd player/amp/bluetooth kit – I only bought it for bike duties, dont really need a car otherwise – its been superb

had a VW LT35 before which was huge, slow, expensive to run but had a beds/cooker/fridge etc
