After watching a Jesse Melamed YT vid he recommended the Crank Brothers Speedier tyre levers which feature a hook end to hold the tyres on the rim, this was years ago before the Bead Bro was launched. I would highly recommend them, work well for holding the tyre and due to the shape can get a really good grip for taking tyres off.

Quick google suggests you could get two of them for the price of the Bead Bro.

I’ve been really tempted by the Canyon Spectral 125, 140mm front and 125mm rear with a slack head angle and some good reach options in Large or XL

Thanks for the replies. Hmm…perhaps not as bad as I was expecting. Julianp – the location of our meter sounds similar to yours i.e. centre of the downstairs of the house. The PIA with our house is that it has a solid concrete floor, and there’s no easy route through to the front or side wall of the garage (& nowhere to hide the cable). Our electrician friend thought the cable would look a bit cr*p run on the outside of the house, especially as it’d have to run under the front doorstep. I’m ok with wall mounted cables, but in this case, I think he’s right.
    Ah, first World problems eh?!

Take this with a pinch of salt, but could you not the run the cable up the wall and then through the ceiling/1st floor floor go with the joists and then out of the external wall and down to where needed?

JustWatch app tells you where a movie/tv programme is available and on what basis.

Lovely recommendation, with the demise of search engines and streaming services removing content to find what I want to watch! Shame the show I first looked for is on ITVX, I tried watching something on there before and the ads were crazy, an hour show with 4 sets of ads and 6 x 30second ads to sit through, didnt even start episode 2 of a 4 series show it was so bad! The highlight was it not remembering why I last was, so I had to start from the beginning which meant watching the ads again to then fast forward and then watch more ads to fast forward back to where I was.

Companies, if I saw you advert on ITVX or it interrupts YouTube I will stop or never buy your products.

Anyone else in a similar boat with stubborn belly fat?

How much of a daily calorie deficit are you running and how are you tracking it? I remember in my late 20’s it took months of strict calorie deficit to shift my belly. I’m now approaching 40 and upping the exercise and trying to eat better isnt working so will shortly be back to a food diary and targeting a daily calorie deficit of 400 calories.

I was using a UE Boom till the wife nabbed it. I was then using a spare soundbar (the sub went and kept the bar) for a little while but the sound was off due to the missing sub.

I have since picked up some Sonos Ones second hand and like them, if you keep an eye out they’ll come up for £100ish on average. I actually managed to get one for £50 few weeks back!

I had this same issue, started on the frog tadpole 12inch at 3ish and they became super confident on that and super happy on it, when we started going to some of the local pumptracks I noticed it wasnt the quickest rolling bike due to the wheelsize,  grabbed the tadpole+ and they’re fine on it and now also jumped to a 14inch pedal. Both are used pending where we go.

As a bike snob, I liked the frogs due to the female axles and also the ability to higher or lower the stem using headset washers as its 1 1/8th not 1inch threaded. I’ve always picked up the Frogs second hand and then sold them on and not lost money.

I was contemplating approaching a scaffolder to get some old poles, joining pieces and floor pieces and setting something up similiar to this: https://www.mtbproject.com/photo/7013543/one-of-two-bike-wash-stations  . I’d lok to make the feet quite wide so I didnt have to attach it to the floor so could move it out onto the drive to wash the bike from either side.

I was losing my mind at why my Lenovo device would charge and connect to monitors, mouses, keyboards, etc in the office, but at home would only connect to peripherals and not charge.

I tried swapping out the power cable I was using at home, the docking station at home and losing my mind…turned out, at home I had the 90w charger and not the 135w charger so power wasn’t also passed through. Once I got the right charger, power was passed through.

So, if someone says get a higher powered one, do it is my learning now.

Looks like Large vs XL (in low) is 476 vs 496, wheelbase being 31mm longer. You say you’re a tyres on ground rider, the extra reach and wheelbase could work really well for you, if it is a lil too long, shorter stem, diff bars and headset spacers could help bring it back in.

I’m 186 and went from an old large of 465 to a newer XL of 511 and really like it.

I was subscribed via the BBC sounds app to the 6music indie forever playlist, it used to be a nice hour of music once a week, lightly curated. I think due to these changes its now an on air show so I get to listen to someone called Nathan go on about stuff and then hear when they’ve failed to edit out the news! I’ve given up on listening and unsubscribed.

My toddler loves it, his only memory of this weeks episode is Viper elbowing the microphone.

Agreed that Gauntlet seems easier this time around. Travellator looks more difficult, I think before it started at floor level, but now there is a foot or so of pad before the moving belt and this transition seems to catch most out.

Male Blue contestant took a face full of the balance beam too!

You can fit a new battery I think.  Loss of suction may be down to clogged pipes?

    Will Google this to check.

I have the basic Karcher window vac, I see they offer several other options which also have greater battery run times, I wondered if this equated to more suction power.

Didn’t we do window vacs yesterday?

Darn didnt see that! however the discussion seems to be about the value of owning one, less about are the premium models worth it and have greater suction power IMO

Thank you for the info OP, my current pairs of GE1’s are wearing out, I did order some of the GFR grips, but they felt a bit slim for my liking. Will see if can pick some of these up and give them a whirl!

I got quotes from a UK firm and local conservatory firm, UK firm were just on about replacing the existing roof sheets with new sheets made of compressed materials. Local firm, as per another poster spoke about a light weight wooden roof with fake tiles, some sort of window and insulation. UK firms price was huge thinking £15k and the local price was £4k-ish.

What stopped me was the local firm pointed out the age of my conservatory, they say when there fitted they have a 20-30 year life and estimated mine to be around 15 years old, so if I did spend any money on the roof, the rest of the conservatory could age out and need replacing sooner rather then later which could mean doing the roof twice. They actually recommended knocking it down fully and building a proper extension which could be properly insulated, have proper skylights, proper electrics, etc which I appreciated and now exploring.

Question for the masses: how are the Ikea Symfonisk speakers

I find no noticeable difference between the Sonos and Symfonisk lamps soundwise, both work in the Sonos S2 app, show in the airplay section of my iPhone for playing audio.

I used to run dual Mary’s front and rear for grip and braking, chucked a BB on the rear and it rolled a lot better but was as good at braking and grip IMO. Its my all year round tyre combo in super trail for enduro style winch and plummet stuff.

I’ve been running Bettys to test for a while on the back and I like them as much if not more than the DHR. They seem to have more immediate edge grip to them and Ive found they’re staying viable longer. I would imagine though haven’t tried, they would work less well on the front than a DHR.

Ben, I saw cathro ran the BB on the front since it was launched, I slid into his DM’s asking about it and he said it was fine, I am planning to give it a go next Spring myself.

But you wont hear the music? the zwift music is one for the ages!

OP, Apple TV here too, I picked up a 4k one second hand for £70-ish, make sure you get the newer remote as the old remote is pretty poor IMO.

Have I misunderstood what Smart TRV’s can do? I assumed a Smart TRV on each rad on each room would mean instead of heating the whole house AM and PM, I could heat upstairs in the AM when waking up and getting ready only, then in the evening heat downstairs before heating upstairs not long before bedtime? I’d assume this could be overridden in each room on the TRV with a boost style button.

But reading this thread and googling some options has confused me!

Due to this thread I ordered twice from Wiggle last week, one lot of cycling clothes and one lot of running clothes! Both arrived with no haribo!

The £5 dhb jerseys are very much a racing fit that my current physique can’t carry off!

I’m usually an easy medium, but wow those DHB roadie jerseys looked like a crop top!

    12 items arrived, 9 went back…

one of the items that arrived and stayed was a nice DHB Aeron Run Jacket, it was to be used for pre, during and post exercise as a new stinky top replacing the hoody I’ve used for too long, turns out its a nice jacket and wouldn’t mind another, not a sign of it on the Wiggle site 2 days later, not even a page that says out of stock, how can something be in stock and I ordered two diff sizes and then be gone the next!

No personal experience but I’ve heard reports of the spring contacts / pogo pins that make the electrical connection between mech and battery going iffy.

This, when cleaning my bike I will always check that the 3 pins are popped back out and can move in and out freely. If they are stuck in then the battery wont be engaged.

Can you adjust the foot position on the seat you’ve got? The extra clothes and growing child may mean that too much of a knee bend is causing a circulation issue.

Never heard that it needs ‘technology’ to switch meters. I mean, its just a clock isnt it?

The radio teleswitch picks up signals broadcast on the back of an AM or FM BBC channel signal to swap between the electric circuits in your house (there are other ways it could work once the signal is received), as AM and FM are being decommissioned for DAB, the radio teleswitch would then get stuck in the last received signals, could leave you on the day rate only (more expensive) and or with no heating (v.cold).

I had a company come out and quote me to replace my conservatory roof with those tiles, the quote was more then a quote I had to tear it down and build a proper building, plaster and electrics!

Some of the draw backs I noted from a very honest conversation with the sales men, conservatorys general have a life of 20-25 years, mine is easily half way through that, so I could have spent lots of nice money on this new roof for it to then outlast the rest of the UPVC parts! The other issue was, those lovely tiles are just tiles, you cant put lights on/in them so need to think of a way to replace the daylight you’ll lose and also how to light it at night.

The requirement for a lighting board renders the design pointless compared to the horizontal ones we’re all familiar with. Even that white Evoque above is not legal for the UK, the light board needs to be the rearmost part of the rack.

I think it was this that killed the UK scorpion rack company, I have and still use the two bike version and so far have never been pulled over and have overtaken or been overtaken by many police vehicles.

You’d need to crank it so hard onto the ball I personally would be forever worrying its tight enough

The sell for me was going into Peaslake village and seeing one of the scorpions in person and then the owner of car, rack and bike getting on the bike for a few mins. I actually have the reverse issue right now where I sheared the bolt so its clamped tight around my swan neck and will need drilling out to remove and then replace the bolt!

I had some Magura MDR-P in 220mm and 2.0mm thickness, likes others have said improves lever feel. One of them developed a rattle as they’re 2 piece so went to SRAM HS2’s and have had no issues. Dont squeak in the wet like my OG Centrelines did either!

That’s why we went with 16” Hope Academy bikes for our twins. Finding 2 decent 16” bikes (of equal quality so son and daughter don’t get upset) was a nightmare and we figured for £15 a month it was less hassle than buying nice things only to have to flog them again

I’ve never heard abou the Hope scheme before, just done some reading as I will have a child I’ll wanna get onto a 16inch off road style bike and sounds really good and £14 a month seems real reasonable! How have you found the scheme? Has anyone else used the Hope Academy?
