Yes you should all be aware of all the ways that surveillance is built into much of todays’ technology and have as little to do with it as possible.

The much-heralded ‘falling out’ stories are but window dressing. DC knows that he has NC exactly where he wantes him and NC knows that as well.

I think you’ve missed the point that this is a desperate move to try to offset the negative impact that the games will have on the UK economy.

I think an assistant, sorry Barista, shouting “Gary Action?” in a loud voice with the questioning uplift at the end may have some comedic value.

I get annoyed by robotic staff asking me if I have a loyalty card. I find a curt “I neither have nor want one” works well.

Do you know how much it costs to employ a medium? At least 60p per minute, and even then they’re not good enough to realise that you want to speak to them and so they ring you first…

…when retailers realised that they could dupe people into commiting to buy a product that was deliberately stocked as to ensure there would be a shortage at full retail price. I used to work in the moble phone industry, it was common practice to restrict the availabilty of ‘premium’ handsets, it’s called reatil price maintainence. But that still doesn’t explain the utter stupidity of people who queue in the midnight rain to be the first to get their hands on the product that they’ve pre-ordered so many months ago…

What do you use for fuel? Yes alcohol gel or meths but… it used to be the case that a lot of cheap cleaning fluids burned well. These days, probably due to ‘elf and safety, the alcohol that burned has been replaced by compounds that don’t (and to deny desperate alcoholics their pleasure).

So what cheap supermarket household cleaners still burn as a cheap and available source of fuel?

Perhaps the reason that some charties support the closure of Remploy is because in the dog-eat-dog world of charity funding they see an opportunity to gain more funding for themselves?

And on the issue of subsides, many regional development funds end up ie, we, end up paying way more than £25k (IF that is an accurate figure) for each job ‘created’.

I’ve got an invention that will bring the whole coffee shop pyramid economy crashing down…

    It’s called a thermos flask.

But even if it was £25k pa, and there was some debate about the accuracy of the figures, that isn’t much compared to the ongoing costs of maintaining the former workers on benefit.

The marketing doood who thought that as I-pods are trendy and white, shooz should be trendy and white, with the added advantage that the shooz will be percieved by the owner to be minging far sooner than would otherwise be the case. If you don’t like it, DON’T BUY IT!

Back in the days when child benefit was introduced there was a real need for it, but many decades of rising living standards later, can it still be justified? I think not. In the depths of my old shed I have a slowly rusting tin dating from the early sixties that once contained state-issued milk powder for infants, I may well have drunk some of it. AFAIK the state doesn’t issue tins of milk powder anymore so shouldn’t the child benefit be reduced over the next decade, then be abolished?

I use one, although it doesn’t work on ther deaf/brain dead ramblers. Off on a tangent I sometimes encounter blind people, complete with guide dogs on some cycleway sections. I find that a cheery “I’ll come through on your left (or right)” gives them the information that they need and the time to move where they choose to without startling them.

I assume the telescope won’t be in use then? Or have they allowed for the RF interference?
