I started getting palpitations after a bout of long covid. They came on quite suddenly and I was having them all day long. I cut out all the fun stuff: caffeine, alcohol, sugar even tried gluten free. Eventually they went – im not sure there was a direct correlation between the foods I cut out or not. I still get the odd very minor bout. Tiredness, stress and diet are all a factor I think.

Out of stock on middle rings and they won’t be making any more due to lack of demand.

This is a fun rabbit hole to fall down, I’ve done it a couple of times. First time I bought a Speedminton set which was fun but despite claiming it can be used outside it isn’t really the case. The set came with a ball which was less blown off course by the wind but then we lost it!

I’ve just bought a wooden beach bat and ball set (beach tennis?) and that is much better outside but still hard to master (or my 10 year old is just rubbish at it!). More fun than the speedminton as you can control the power of the racket/bat slightly better.

Read the Guardian article, can’t work out if she has been treated terribly or whether there is some pro level whinging going on!

Amazing, I just got the two finger whistle within 2 minutes of watching the video. That never happens to me.

I had this problem, now i just leave them as they are good for wildlife. I occasionally trim off any long annoying shoots when I can be bothered.

leave it to evaporate off and put the dried residue in the bin. Its in liquid form that it will cause the most environmental damage – getting into waterways etc. Same with paint.

If you can’t be bothered to dispose of it at the tip or wait for it to dry out and there is only a small quantity, pour it onto some soil or sand/sawdust and then bag and bin that.

I had a Fairphone 3. I wanted to like it for all the reasons above. Sadly it was unusable. There was a fault with the charging and the touchscreen randomly stopped working.

I think the phones was more susceptible to faults due to the fact that you needed to be able disassemble it so it relied on physical contact connections that were fragile rather than soldered connections.

Also, the camera was crap and I found myself with a phone rapidly reaching obsolesce that would never be able to catch up with never phone even in the unlikley event that Fairphone offered upgrades.

Daughter has the merida. She’s 9 and will be getting a new 26″ bike for Xmas as the seat post has been an inch or two past max for a wee while now. Its been a great bike.

Yep, recently discovered exactly the same thing with my SLX cranks (I was running a Shimano BB). They have been in there a while to be fair (at least a decade) but its pretty annoying. You could probably take them to a machine shop but I imagine the cost of getting it fixed vs a new set of cranks would not make it worth it.

I’ve just left them in there and will put up with the amount of play.

Yes, first hand experience of these particular rims. They were a nightmare (and yes all the other rims I’ve done were easy by comparison). I used Tessa tape and they are OK now but still loose air. Remember that it can seem like they are leaking from the valve but actually thats just the point where the air is escaping – it can really be leaking under the tape itself  – these rims seemed particularly prone to the tape pulling away breaking the seal.

Yeah Hope20FIVE tubeless user here. I’ve regularly had to retape these rims (Tessa tape – correct diameter) but eventually the tape pulls away from the rim and leaks out the valve hole. I’ve got to the point where it holds air pretty well but still needs regular topping up with air. This was achieved with scuffing the rim surface, heating the tape and putting a tube in. Never had any bother with mtb wheels.

What is your ‘shit release’ issue?! (If that isn’t too personal a question?)

You need to hire/buy a needlegun scaler for that.

Ha!, I only clicked on this thread to see if they were Hope 20fives and they were. Mine have been a nightmare. I must have had to retape them every year I’ve had them. I’ve sanded the rims, cleaned them down etc. The Tessa tape just wouldn’t hold on the rim sides which would then leak through the valve hole. Seem to have done a better job of it this time around but I expect when I come back to the bike after winter the tyres will have lost all pressure again.

In a virtually identical position myself (we may even work for the same company!). I actually own a Honda Jazz albeit one of the older models. You wont find a small car with more space and the folding seats make it easy to quickly load up the car with windsurfing gear – you will need to fold the front passenger seat down to fit in any board. From memory I got a 265 in there with the nose rested on the dashboard.
I actually prefer to use our other car which is a Vauxhall Astra estate because of the longer boot and can fit foiling board in there without needing to do anything to the front passenger seat (probably would do for a longer board which would be a massive pain as it has an adjustable wheel that takes forever to lower and raise. It also works well for biking as I just put the bike in the boot (front wheel off). I’d describe it as a medium size estate.

Just done mine. Its taken 6 weeks and I’m pretty much back to normal. I found MTB ing was the worst thing for it, so much so it set me back every time I tried it. Road biking was ok. At 4 weeks I remembered to gently stretch which helped a lot as did swimming yesterday.

    @BadlyWiredDog

The classic long covid experience is to have clear chest x-rays and ECGs plus a shedload of blood tests that fall wihhin normal levels, but be proper ill regardless.

Yes exactly this. I got all those tests done back in March (except markers for inflammation) and they came back fine which was a relief except I still felt dreadful (and subsequently got worse). In June I actually managed to get seen by a cardiologist who gave me a clinical diagnosis of Pericarditis i.e. based on my reported symptoms because so much time had elapsed that he couldn’t find anything of concern.

Whilst my chest pains have bounced around they do focus on the left hand side of my chest. General inflammation and chronic nausea were key factors for me. You mention the nervous system, I could well imagine that all these symptoms are interrelated in a way I don’t understand enough about. I found Kombucha helped the nausea/stomach issues a little.

Does this experience sound familiar to any of you?

yes, those flippin chest aches are something I’ve had since March, bouncing around all over my chest ranging from a dull ache to more of a sharp stabbing pain. Does anyone know what actually causes them? While we are on the subject, what causes the mild bouts of breathlessness I’m still having that then go away just as quickly as they came!??!

I’ve been off the bike since March due to heart rate issues. I haven’t had any of the classic C-19 symptoms – high fever, cough etc so can’t say that is whats caused it but I felt horribly ill for a number of weeks – nausea/palpitations/racing heart/chest pains. I kept going in to the local A+E and they kept sticking me on a ECG but it didn’t show anything interesting. I’m over the worst of the symptoms and have since tried a few sessions on the road bike but my heart rate doesn’t come back down to resting again. I end up lying in bed with an uncomfortably high heart rate that stops me from sleeping. I’m hoping to get an echocardiogram but unsurprisingly the NHS has come to a grinding halt.
