The max load for the 450 park tools hooks is 20kg…. So you’ll probably need the 470XX hook for a fat bike max load of 25kg

finally cooked – so 1:50 to get up to 105℃ – I’ve used this cooker several times before but never noticed how slow it was – but I’m in a rush today… :)

I’d assumed all DFFs would over heat the wax – looks like most only control down to 130℃

Any reason you didn’t go for a cheap deep fat fryer?

Pretty much every guide on the web says “slow cooker/crockpot” so I assumed someone knew what they were talking about ;)

I built mine from track and hangers from the https://www.rollingcenter.co.uk/

    bikerack

Comparing the systems for 8 bikes mine cost ~£215 all in

    • 80Z Rail £34
    • Carriages £9 x 8
    • Ceiling support £10 x 3
    • Park tools 450 threaded Hooks £5 x 8 (hard to find in the UK though – someone else here bought wood threaded ones and recut the thread)
    • Rail delivery was £35

Buller system is very similar though more expensive £330

Stashed system works out very expensive for 8 bikes £600

Well after 6 months off Zwift and getting placed back in D class I finally “won” a race!

I’m sure after a couple of weeks back on it I’ll be back to finishing middle of the pack in C as per usual :D

I bought a De’Longhi  Eletta Bean-to-Cup Coffee Machine in 2018 – it’s not missed a beat and so far has made 10313 shots of coffee…

Machine was an eye watering £600 but thats only 6p a shot, Bean consumption probably works out to be £1250 – £1500 over the same time period so you’re looking at 19p a shot of coffee so 38p for a long.

I never faffed with it / changed grinder settings etc just cleaned it and descaled every few months.

@mrmchammer it was around £215 all in, £140 (plus £35 delivery) for the rail, mounts and carriages, £40 for the 8 park tool hooks – but the threaded versions (rather than wood screw type) seem quite hard to find from a uk supplier now.

I’ve got storage for up to 8 bikes using:
https://www.rollingcenter.co.uk/ 3m monorail , wheeled carriages and park tools hooks
most of the time it’s got 6 bikes and 2 sets of wheels hanging from it.

Had my Slate’s Oliver serviced (after 2 years use) with TfTuned in 2020 – it cost £129 including postage both ways, I can’t remember exactly what they did though!

There really is a lot of variables- braking, tyres, surface, wind, aero position etc.
For some examples with calories computed from a power meter ( with 86kg rider):

    Road bike (Giant TCR):
    68km/1,217m road ride @20.1km/h : 3,202 kcal
    153km/1,155m road ride @25.0km/h : 3,564 kcal
    163km/1,252m road ride @27.7km/h : 5,859 kcal

    Gravel bike (Cannondale slate):
    100km/860m road ride @20km/h : 2,209 kcal
    120km/737m (80% off road) @22km/h : 3,234 kcal
    88km/2025m (35% off road) @15.0km/h : 3,474 kcal
    167km/1,068m (40% off road) @22.7km/h : 4,212 kcal

    Mountain bike (Cotic solaris):
    23km/200m @15.4km/h : 1,176 kcal
    43km/330m @18.2km/h : 1,317 kcal
    41km/845m @13.3km/h : 3,166 kcal

Power meter obviously only knows what effort you are putting into the pedals too – an hour on road is far easier than an hour off road on the upper body etc – not sure if anyone has ever quantified that though?
On the gravel bike Strava regularly over estimates (compared to my PM) my riding buddies calorie usage by 10-20% compared with me (similar weight/bikes etc) he doesn’t use PM or HR monitor.

With Lake shoes there’s a lot of difference between models/lasts – I’m using their MX238 which fits me spot on (MX Competition last) – but their MX145 boot is way to tight (MX Sport last)

phew – I suffered with inadequate cooling last night, need some bigger fans for when the temp in the garage gets over 20°
Had a weird start as everyone else vanished with about 1 second to go and then reappeared a few seconds later (by this point I was swearing at the wifi…) pushed it at the start knowing I’d get dropped as soon as we hit the inclines – wasn’t expecting it to split quite so early though.
Worked with Rolo through the jungle and then just tried to pace myself up the climb (which was easier after I reduced the trainer difficulty from 100%…)
Need to clean the trainer mat and bike today!

    Leaky me

Think I’ve nearly recovered from that!
Pretty happy with my performance, was aiming for 250w Paul overtook me and that gave me someone to chase for the 3rd segment bumping the average up to 255.
Well done Robbo on the win.

Prior to buying a van I had a Honda civic estate
    fat bike in the boot
Not sure about standing the bike up though, it really benefited from having a very flat loading area with the seats down.

Think I could do with 10%+ more power or 10% less mass! – or ideally both ;)
First race myself and @jimdoubleyou dragged each other round was good to have some company as I tend to lose focus and drop off if I’m on my own, we were starting to close on @bails towards the end
Second race we had a little group up the first climb but I was pretty close to my max heart rate for most of it and got dropped close to the top – @Paul-S, @bails and Andy hovered 10-30 seconds in front of me for the rest of the race but I just couldn’t get back on but it did at least give me a target to chase.

Had to really go for it at the beginning not really helped by all the bloody burritos! Spent most of race in a solid group of 6(?) finished desperately hanging on to @bails and @stumpy01.

I’ve had one of these for several years https://www.skiweb.uk.com/product/boot-dryer-ad4/ (I’m sure I didn’t pay anything like that much for it though) which appears to be identical to the MaxxDry dryers
it has a cold/hot setting and 3 hour timer.
Works well with my SPD shoes and five tens

Enjoyed last nights race, I’ve improved my starts (which I had been doing completely wrong) which has meant keeping with the front group for a bit longer and then hopefully finding someone with a similar power output to work with/hang on to!

Zwift with a 12 speed mountain bike

Won’t that spin out on the flat? (purely down to the front chainring size)
Doing a quick test on my road bike on Tempis Fugit I can’t go much faster than 35km/h in the 34T chainring (spinning at 105rpm+)

bah so I got back on and then even though it said ‘legends and lava’ it sent me the wrong way (29.4km 331m climb) and then ate all my data anyway :|

Oh well – not like I was going to win anything! :)

That was dreadful for me first 15 min was OK but then my legs refused to cooperate 🙄
I did the 2nd climb on gravel bike, it was 1.5% slower but with 7% less power… (I was totally on my own by that point) bike swap lost me about 20 seconds though 😆 not an easy job on Apple TV!

Just heard back from the company quoting me – I guess this is bull:

“With the system you replace not only the glass, but the frame of the panels as well.”
