I’ve hired a mustang from hertz for a week in September.

In Las Vegas, for £280 inc cdw

It’s not expensive if you look around.

As a mechanic and garage owner myself think of it like this.

    Quality costs more.

    Question.

When you do this who do you phone ? 999 or local police station ?

I ask because i want to report my neigbour. Chap in his late 80’s – drives on the wrong side of the road most of the time i see him. Oh and the small fact he DRIVES to the local pub every night, has a few glasses of whiskey and DRIVES home again pee’d out his face.

Battery is most likely dead. I had a similar issue with my snap on drill with 3 batteries. Put them on charge and the light would indicate they had been charged fully in a few minutes.

It’s the cells inside the battery that go.

I got them re-celled at batteriesplus. Very reasonable cost £25 each instead of £90 for a new battery from snap on.

    Looked into this issue more…

Buyer has several feedbacks regarding trying to fraud people and lie to them regarding very similar items….

Still waiting for him to send it back to me.

    On another note however!

Because i have an open case on ebay, i can’t pay for anything with my paypal account!? Any way around this because i’ve made a ton of purchases that need paying.

I’m not really looking to use it abroad – its used at the hotel and hire place. They hold an amount something like $300 on the card if you mess the place up or something.

So say i buy a frame at £1000

I have say 6 months interrest free on that purchase, so i can basically wait 6 months to pay it back and not have to pay interrest ?

Then after the offer period, i have a certain amount of days to pay money back again interrest free ?

If i was to keep paying things off within the time frame and thus not pay any interrest will that affect my credit rating good/bad ?

Liability Insurance Supplement is included but Personal Accident Insurance is not…

bleeding car brakes is a piece of cake. easier than a mtb

if the piston is stiff buy a new caliper. Free them up works short term but it will seize and destroy the new pads/disc which will cost you more ££££ in the long run

A Saab should come with a Vauxhall style locker, as it basically is a Vauxhall.

    They look like this:

” it has three internal pins” Is it a french car by chance ?

Those lockers are even worse than a french car.

Speaking from a vast amount of experience it’s actually pretty hard to break a locker when taking it off, they only fit one way so if it isn’t in the corrent way it just slips off.

Very easy however to overtighten them ie with an airgun and break them.

Those 3 pin ones are the worst lockers ever. Only a a french man would come up with such a stupid design. You have all the torque needed to tighten/loosen the wheel nut being sent through three little pins !? If the wheels haven’t been off in a while and the studs are corroded in you have no chance of getting them off.

FWIW £20 to drill out all the lockers is a bargain.

    I charge £30 per nut.

    How strange…

    I have JUST bought a TZ30 today.

Was playing with it earlier, the zoom on it is great. Pics are very very good. I like all the features on it.

Ford had problems with that engine, same one that goes in the Focus diesel too. I can’t remember the cause but it’s something to do with the turbo failing.

When you picked it up did the turbo work ?

    Is the EML on ?

What type of belt was fitted ?

What has happened to the belt ? Has it snapped, tensioner failed and its come off ?

    Offroading
    Free Member

From what you say, you have had an alternator belt pulley and tensioner changed – this is seperate from the timing belt (cambelt) which is under two/three covers. The alternator stuff is external. The cambelt failing has nothing to do with the alternator pulley etc.

Have you had the cam belt done in the 132k miles you’ve done in it ?

As an owner of a similar BMW and a mechanic be ready for possible replacement of the track rod ends.

BMW came up with a design that uses a pinch bolt to close the track rod end onto the rack arms, instead of a big locking 21-24mm nut. This is a problem because when the bolt is seized it’s a bugger to get free – heating it does help but sometimes they still snap.

Secondly, because the design relies on a pinch bolt the rack end has a slot up one side of it which lets water in and begins the onset of rust. I’ve had it on numerous BM’s (Even my own) that no matter how much heat you use the track rod end will not turn freely on the rack (which prevents correct tracking adjustment)

So you may get a mechanic who sticks at it and eventually gets the tracking lined up, or they might advise the replacement of the ends with aftermarket ones which don’t get stuck for some reason.

    Just an FYI :D

Just to follow up and end this…

I submitted the tax return after a phone call to HMRC.

A refund of £583 showed up today. It affects my tax free allowance somehow because of the other allowances i get so that’s why i received more.

    Hi,

    Was watching robin hood!

To whoever asked i spent £5k no problem on tools. ALL of it is Snap on but believe it or not it’s all just tools, no tool box 8O It’s a mighty fine collection though :D

    More important matters now.

I have the self assess 90% complete online. If i was to ditch it do i just leave it ? Would i have to notify HMRC that i am not completing it to avoid the £100 fine ?

This P87 form. Having done some looking into it it does seem a lot more hassle free, why the person at HMRC didn’t tell me about it is beyond me.

But i have noticed this on the website section about the P87:

    “Claims up to £2,500

If your claim is £2,500 or less, HMRC normally gives you relief for your expenses through your tax code straight away. If you claim an estimated figure, they will review it at the end of the year. They will make any adjustments that are needed in your tax code for the next tax year.”

Yet on the P87 form it says:

“If relief is due you will receive a repayment of the tax paid on the net allowable expenses.”

So i either get it on my tax code or a cheque. Handy the HMRC website says two things…

To confirm, yes i am employed

No you can fill in another form and have HMRC remove you from the self assess list. I will need to do one for 2012-2013 anyway because i spent another £2k this year 8O

    Glupton, agreed.

So to sum up, what exactly am i doing wrong ?

I contact HMRC and ask them can i claim for my tool expenses, they say yes. I tell them the amount i have spent is over £2500 so they tell me to fill in a self assess and send me the paper work.

I fill in all the stuff, £2917.20 is what i spent on tools including VAT for 2011-12

AFAIK the capital allowances for tools is £120 per year.
I have the workwear claim cover, did that months ago.

the tax amount applied to each purchase is listed on its own beside each tool purchase. So i added them all up.

The receipts for my tools have the cost of the tool on its own and the individual vat amount for each.

So i added up the total for the tools individual cost + vat for each one to get my grand total.
