Sorry for the delay had to nip away…

Well nothing too posh posh, just somewhere normal in Edinburgh etc. Most of the places i went past didn’t serve it though which is why i asked. The only place i did find it served as at the Standing Order.

FYI the XX Crank does have a narrow QF but it’s not THAT narrow. Bearing in mind it’s been in the works for 2 + years Sram have confirmed it does work with 90% of bikes. There was some info available start of the year with Dave Turner redesigning his bikes so they could run it, one would assume other manufactor’s have had similar deals.

It’s available from certain US sources within the next 10 days from info i’ve just been sent. No doubt the UK will be months behind in getting it as usual, i feel another trip to the US is due

    You need x 2 M6x20mm bolts.

A local bolt supplier can supply these for about £1 but if you must have a “proper product” then look at the bolts available from Shimano, Hope, Formula it’s all the same thing.

Alternatively buy whatever size adapter you require from Hope as you get the adapter and bolts in the price. As long as it is the same size you can interchange adapters regardless of brand.

Im sat in the garden just outside Edinburgh, the thermometer is reading 35 deg and in the greenhouse it’s 41.

Just seen the weather report and it said they expect it to reach 27 deg, well really ? It was 27 deg here by 11.00 am.

Yup max yourself out on the ram with a good card.

Im running 3gb of high speed ram now with a 2.8ghz dual core pcu but i only have 128mb graphics card.

The quality of the card is most important as said a high end 512mb card will whoop a low end 1gb card then again a high end 1gig card is £££££

Why not try the Race guard version of the Fred’s ?

I love the Freds think there great but they are thin. Race Guard is only 30 grams extra i think.

I use white spirit, bought 3 ltrs of it at Morrisons for £2

30 seconds in the containner and your chain is sparkly clean, it cuts through everything leaving it perfectly clean.

I give mine a wash down afterwards then let it air dry and relube. I seem to be able to get LONG life out of my chains doing this.

But don’t get it anywhere near bearings/seals etc.

    If it’s just a scuff here’s a quick fix.

Get some brasso, rub it on the scuff and buff it off – dont let it dry. Scuff will be gone.

As for actually chipping off the lacquer if it gets really bad you might want to think about some kind of protective pad etc.

Yes i have a direct connection to the exchange but it’s wireless – the signal does not go through the copper cable it comes down from the loft via a normal ethernet cable into the back of the router.

    Morning all,

    OK this is my setup:

In the loft is a box with an antena attached to it. This box has a cable running down the house into my router which then goes into the PC.

The box in the loft is picking up a signal from across the street where there is a second box placed on a rooftop. This box picks up the signal directly from the BT Exchange miles away. So it’s all wireless im basically going straight into the exchange via a series of signal boxes.

There are only 12 users on this system so im a little bit suprised if congestion would be an issue here ?

The only other thing we have is a standard BT phone cable with ancient copper wires. The signal coming through this and the fact we are so far from the exchange meant that option wasn’t worth looking at, a few other residents in the street have it and honest to god it is painfully slow taking 5 mins + to load google mail for example.

I (try to) use speedtest every day and the speed varies as i said sometimes it will say 3.3mb others it will be down to .08mb for the download speed. I do know that the upload speed is set to 0.6mb regardless though which makes uploading pics a tedious task.

The thing which is annoying me is i understand how the “UP TO” system works as an average over 24hrs but i don’t consider that when my net sometimes get faster at the higher end of 3mb for 30 seconds in a day i don’t consider that as 4mb. The fact is it is more often than not hovering around 1mb for the day then as last night happened plumets to 9kbps.

They are a bit of a pain. I do pest control for several farmers and a chap down the road has a bird farm i’d call it.

Fox was visiting each night, killing full grown adult Geese and just leaving them each time, guy nearly lost his entire stock of birds in a matter of weeks.

The XX cassette is of the same construction as the Red although it’s more hollow to allow mud escape etc. However the big cog is aluminium and the rest of it is a special blend of various materials.

Those are oldish pics, IIRC that front mech is the first prototype one with a odd clamp idea.

The Santa Cruz guys are running XO rear mechs with altered cable pull thanks to a new cable loop. They are also using modified XO triggers to give 10 clicks and just use a standard Sram Road cassette.

The carbon ones are fantastic. There even lighter than KCNC’s and as far as i can tell they don’t wear out.
