I think you need to look at the cause of why you are working long hours and fix that rather than trying to deal with the syptoms, as it were.

    This.

I just want to be able to buy and ride a bike without having to stress about which bl00dy wheel size to go for.

    Too much to ask?

EDIT: Oh, and what he said^^^

Am I the only one that HASNT (touches wood) had any serious ‘road rage’ encounters?

I’ve had the odd too-close pass, and people pulling out in front of me, however none of them have been close enough for me to have actually felt too worried.

These threads always put me on a bit of a downer, and makes want to get out on the bike less. For the purpose of balance – maybe we should have a thread about GOOD experiences while on the road/commuting, etc :-)

Ive just gone 650b.. i just felt like giving something new a shot for the hell of it really as life is indeed quite short.

This is the way I’m feeling right now…. may just end up going for it just because I fancy it. :-)

All this 26 vs 27.5 vs 29 debate is a nightmare for people like me; e.g. the slightly less knowledgeable buyer.

I’m going to be in the market for a new bike this year, and am 100% completely stumped on what would be best – and to be honest, it’s putting me off biting the bullet and making the commitment.

Wonder how many others like me there are..

If you could commute on your bike it will make a massive difference to your fitness, depending on distance obviously. You build your fitness in dead time which is an added bonus.

I started commuting on the bike in 2006 and its the best thing I’ve ever done. I do it at least 3 times a week all year round and I love it
    +100

A simple 10 mile commute has caused 2 stone to fall off me without trying, and helped me get to a reasonable level of fitness. Even better if your work has a shower in, so you can go hell for leather without worrying about stinking all day!

    100% recommend Aberaeron.

Stunningly smart little town, on the coast, and mountains nearby. Really nice bustling bars and restaurants in the town too, as well as some pretty smart hotels and b&b’s. :-)

Constantly get this in work, and in our estate.

    “Why dont you drive in?”
“Because I like to cycle, and save myself time from sitting in traffic.”

“Why dont you borrow my car?”
    “Because I like to cycle”

“Why dont you get the train?”
    “Because I like to cycle”

“Why dont you get a lift with Joe Bloggs?”
    “BECAUSE I LIKE TO CYCLE!!!!”

Also get the “HOW MUCH??”‘s, and when I tell people I’m riding from Edinburgh to London for charity, they can barely summon a response.

    All fun and games :-)

I get out of that roundabout, as I said I do it all the time. However, there are problems with its design that could be helped if people didn’t go so fast around it. Take my word for it.

I will just back up molgrips on how hideous the Gabalfa interchange is, definitely doesnt look it on Google Maps though. You genuinely have to gun it 90% of the time just to get out…not to mention the ice-like surface on some of the exits in the wet, causing lots of (fun) tail happy exits :-) :D

Def go and collect it and pay cash :-) I drove from Cardiff to Leeds to collect a bike. It may have cost me £50-odd in fuel, but theres nothing like a good nice look over it, picking it up, prodding it, etc etc. You can always change your mind too if you’re not happy.

Always good to meet fellow STW’ers in the flesh too, and you instantly get some idea on how the bike has been treated in the past. PLUS, you can avoid the dreaded potential courier horror stories.

Mrs Cat punches a hole in them, leaving a raggedy tinfoil mess

Agreed – possibly THE most irritating thing in the entire world. Especially when you then have to wipe up said mess, adding yet another unnecessary step into the coffee making process.

Does it even matter THAT much if it’s been posted before? Surely it’s easier/quicker to just ignore it if you’ve seen it before, rather than getting the pitchforks out, and going to the effort of posting a mockery- based response.

I have no idea what tyre would be best I’m afraid… but keen to know whether Evans are planning on doing this again then? Was going to come and watch the one last year, but completely forgot about it!

FYI – you only get 5gb of space for free with iCloud. If your pics and music come to more than that, you’ll have to back it up using a PC, or buy a bigger iCloud storage allowance.

A unicyle off road? Fair play to you – I cannot even imagine being able to ride one with 4 stabilisers.

I always struggle to go out if it is actually raining. It can start raining 30 seconds after I leave for all I care – that’s fine. But if it is raining before I leave, for some reason, my motivation completely disappears into thin air.

I have fingers crossed that it will mean some more proper cycle paths in Cardiff. Unlikely, I know, however crossing fingers never does any harm.

The taff-trail (which runs from the very south of Cardiff right up to mid-wales) is a god-send to me – even with all the dog walkers and iPod zombies. More taff-trails please. That is all.
