I’m in the opposite camp. Currently have a winter bike (a Ribble special), and can’t stretch to a sexy summer bike. Can’t even be bothered to take the mudguards off!

I think the whole homophobia thing is on its way out anyway. Once the current crop of vocal bigots have died off, it’ll go the way of racism: frowned upon by the vast majority of society, at least publicly, and those that still harbour ill-feelings towards “the gays” will at least keep it to themselves.

Can’t happen soon enough.

Sums it up for me. In all honesty I can’t remember the last time something homophobic was said (and meant) to me. Glad I wasn’t born a decade or two before to be honest, I’ve had it easy! :-)

I’ve unfollowed a load of people on Twitter similar to that one. Actually puts me off going out on the bike. :(

FWIW I entered into a civil partnership a few years ago (split now, booo) and it didnt remotely feel any ‘lesser’ than a ‘marriage’. Neither of us are religious either, so didnt feel like we were losing out in that sense.

*I do, however, like bikes, fast cars, and football, so I don’t exactly live up to the ‘stereotype’. I know, I know, I am a poor excuse for a gay male… :lol:

Slightly less natural setting, but I love the bay barrage loop. About 4 and a half miles (can easily be extended), lots to see, and can start/finish in the bay where there are tonnes of nice restaurants and bars etc.

Drive 30 mins down the coast to Boulogne. Lovely town, lots of nice bars and restaurants, and the Old Town is stunning IMO.

Hotels wise, there are two Ibis hotels, both equally decent and with parking.

what can you do other than don some decent kit and go out and have fun.

I’m an only GRANDchild.

Throughout my childhood I massively missed having a brother/sister, especially on holidays etc. Even now (aged 26) I would LOVE to have a sibling to turn to, and like you say, I feel like I’ve missed out on that unique sibling relationship. Having cousins may have helped, however does feel a bit lonely sometimes!

However….on the plus side…… inheritance gets funneled down to just me! Silver lining, etc etc :D

Didnt the OP request advice on whether or not to get rid of the motorbike? Pretty sure he didnt ask all the STW “experts” for more information on exactly what caused his crashes. :roll:

My advice would be to keep the bike until it’s paid off, AND get a small car – that’s if you can afford to do both. Use the bike on dry days when you’re feeling nice and alert – will help build your confidence back up :-)

A guy I know took some stock from a shop he worked in because they didnt pay him. Needless to say, he now has a criminal record.

I asked for some new decals so my Ribble would look nice in all the PR photos for a charity ride I’m doing next month.

They sent some to me completely free of charge along with a complementary water bottle, the very next day.

I came pretty close to having to bunnyhop a snake about 2 miles from the centre of Cardiff.

I had to bunny hop an actual bunny in Bute Park. That scared me enough!

usually wait in the line of traffic as not in a rush and it makes you look less like an impatient arsehole

I am 100% for making sure I don’t look like an impatient arsehole, because the people that i’ve just gone past are sitting in 4-wheeled weapons. However, sitting in queues when it’s perfectly safe to filter is a complete waste of time IMHO.

One of the reasons I like riding to work is that i can do it in two thirds of the time. :-)

EDIT: This sums it up for me:

Personally I only filter if it’s actually going to save me time

I will just wait my turn in the queue.
