I had one, but one day I took it off when I was out riding and never managed to find it again 😆

I have RED and wish I'd bought Dura Ace. Brakes are good, it is light, but the shifting is a bit too fussy and I still mis shift even after a year of using it. Perhaps it's just me.

I bought the cheapest TAG Heuer that you can get a year or so ago becuase I was tired of bashing up my Speedmaster, Seems to be really tough, keeps good time and looks fine more for pretty much any occaision.

There are people who "get" watches and those who don't. I am not say which group is right and which is wrong, I love them and waste lots of money on them, but in some way it is not that different to wasting money on bikes 🙂

I'd go for something classic that you wont want to replace with a new niche in a few months or a year.
A classic tourer or a cross bike
If you travel then I'd be tempted to put in some S&S couplers and make a travel bike maybe based on a cross platform that would give you endless flexibility by simply swapping tyres and or wheels.

I'd love to do that course or there is one in the US where you make a ti frame in Oregan somewhere…

I don't think there is anything that keeps you dry and doesn't get you sweaty inside when you are pushing yourself.
    Marketing myth 🙂

I read about the lego house, it couldn't stay where it was becuase there was no planning permission and nobody wanted it. I think the bricks were given away and I think Lego provided them FOA or at least cheap anyway.

I stand to be corrected on any of the above though

I fitted a pair to my Cervelo soloist, no problem on the rear, but I couldn't get the front on without it rubbing and it drove me mad so I took them off again. Wish I'd bought the SKS ones now 🙁

I fell off on the road onto a 3 day old iphone that I had from work. THankfully the damage was only superficial. I have been wondering about what to do though. I currently use a zip lock plastic bag that protects against the wet, but not a fall.
I'd like somthing like a neoprene case with velcro or a zip on the top I suppose. Perhaps I'll try to make one…

We spent a fortune on a charriot cougar wihch has suspension and all sorts! It fits 2 kids and is very very well made which it should be for the price.
They make a baby sling that can hold smaller ones, but I think our smallest was still >9 months before he could sit comfortably in it.

It is hard work towing it up hills and the kids always fall asleep immediately.

I expect we can sell ours for 75% of what it cost so all in all I think it has been a good buy, but TBH I don't think we've used it quite enough to justify it other than the fact that it is the only 2 child carrying thing he've had and we have needed it at times just for that. (with the wheel on the front as well that is)

I have some Nike that are pretty good but were not exactly cheap. They tend to get longer as they get bigger, I have an XL I think and they must be about 35" inside leg.

Try Patagonia stuff, it is really good although a bit pricy. I bought some stuff at Mountain Intelligence and have also seen some decent prices at Naked Ape although they have the slowest website in the history of the internet

I wouldn't ask at the first interview if I were you and I have hired >100 people in my time.

Wait until the second interview or better still wait until you get a job offer. As a graduate recruit they will be investing in you and you also investing some time with them in return so I would consider both jobs much more on what they can offer you as experience, interest and fun over the probably minimal differences in sallary.

Negotiating begins when there is an offer on the table IMO.

Dualit are overpriced, we've had ours for 7 years I think and it still works, but I wouldn't buy another.
You need to take into account if it is already hot enough before guessing how much time to turn it on for. It is too easy to burn stuff – my mum has one as well and throws away about 30% of everything she puts in it because she burns it 🙂 I think there are much better toasters for half the price.

As someone above said. form over function

    Full stop:

I had considered the gore fusion and it is acutally within budget (£75 at CRC) but it looks like a normal fleece rather than cycling specific cut.

Are the arms and back long enough?
    Does it breath at all?

I use a maxxlight joystick or whatever it is called and it is very very good, but not cheap.
There are 3 brightness settings and a flashing mode for when you can see but want to make sure that others see you.

Again good, but not cheap. About the same cost as 2-3 tanks full of petrol, how many commutes to pay that? 🙂

I have lost 2 stone since I got it, that is why it is baggy 🙂

I think that is also why it is not really keeping in the warmth although it is always soaking wet when I take it off. I am a bit of a sweaty pig though.

My old jacket with the roubaix back was good because it breathed really well. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy the assos in the end. I am sure it will be better than getting 2 cheaper ones that aren't quite up to the job…

It may be eBay time for the Rapha jacket.

I see, I have played around on their site a bit now and it is included if you live in the UK. I live in Denmark so it is not included. The two timer jacket is €92, plus 25% VAT plus €34 admin charges for import makes about €149.

That's still cheaper than assos, but not much 😐

    I'll get behind the sofa!

I am surprised that nobody has commented on the fact that there is rarely any snow in the UK and that buying a car specifically to deal with it is somewhat silly becuase the rest of the time you are compromised in other areas. I'd rather deal with the compromise when the snow comes for a couple of days every other year. The whole country grinds to a standstill anyway when it happens

No, I am trying to avoid looking at high end labels but I'd rather not spend £70 on something that won't fit the bill.
    I have:
A Rapha lightweight softshell (a present from the MRs) that is not warm, doesn't breath much and is rather too baggy
An Assos element one that isn't warm enough becuase the wind blows through it
A decathlon proper windstopper jacket that is about 10 years old that has been really good, windstopper on the front and arms and roubaix lycra on the back but it is falling apart and too big for me.
The Assos 851 looks like the same sort of construction, but I don't want to shell out £200 if I can get something similar for £100… That is where I am stuck.
BTW I live in Scandinavia so it does get rather cold here Brrrr!

I've never looked at that ground effect stuff before, it looks nice although I think I'd opt for the frosty boy instead. I have been feeling the cold a lot this atumn already, I guess it is the weight I have lost 🙂
Do they ship from NZ? meaning do you get stung for import duty?

    How often does it snow?
Can you really justify driving around in a 4×4 for all but a couple of days every other year?
It's sort of like buying a full sus mountain bike to ride on the road all the time except for one ride per year when you might have to head off along a canal tow-path.

My trainer has a rubber coated roller and doesn't seem to eat tyres too much. I am also running an old tyre that won't see any more road time so I think I'll stick with that for now 🙂

Are the turbo trainer tyres worth shelling out for? I have been considering buying one, but only if it reduces the noise noticably.
