    Do what you are

    Read this book, it is really a good place to start in terms of finding something that will be fulfilling. A consultant may help you to find a job or field based on what you want, but I think it's a good idead to figure out what you want first.

    Car hire from the French side of Geneva airpotr is cheaper than the Swiss, but beware the motorway tolls. You can avoid them, but you'll need a map becuase the signs take you onto the Swiss motorway at every oppportunity.

    If you're interested, I am only 6'3 and a bit and I ride a 22" Salsa Mamasita. For me it is a perfect fit so I can't see it fitting someone your height.

    Cannondale do some big bikes, either XXL or Jumbo IIRC. IK have a 63cm road bike from them that is too big.

    19 years since I got the first one on this list, but I was riding BMX when I was about 8 or 9

    Dawes Stratos road bike with Shimano 105 – 1991 (wrecked in car crash)
    Scott team racing – 1997 (stolen)
    Trek 2200 road bike – 1999
    Marin Rift Zone – 2000 (sold frame)
    Cannondale R3000 -2004 (stripped parts)
    On-one Pompino – 2005 (sold)
    On-one geared inbred – 2004 (sold)
    Cotic Road Rat – 2008 – (Still got)
    Salsa Mamasita – 2008 (best MTB I've had)
    Cervelo R3SL – 2008 (sex)
    Cervelo soloist team – 2009

    I love collecting/building/buying and obsessing over bikes almost as much as I love riding bikes

    I used to work in the industry (CAMAS, Bardon, Tarmac and Aggregate Industries) and it is an unfortunate fact that the guys on site are expected to work long hours.If your site has only got a few months left to run then I would be conscious of getting either a good reference or another post so it might be worth putting a bit of effort into keeping it all amicable.
    I seem to remember that the opt out of the 48 hour week was only a temporary thing that the UK couldn't maintain forever and I have been out of there for 9 years. Maybe TJ can verify the legal side of it.
    Anyway as you say PP, there isn't much you can do, because someone else will probably take the job if you don't want it.
    Seems to me that the best thing to do is maintain the good working relationship with your boss and keep a bit of give and take in the deal
    Good luck with it all.

    I started with it adjusted right down and have gradully wound it to where it seems to work best. I think I probably just need to practice with it and take my time. The other point of not pushing down on it is something else I should bear in mind more.
    I have also ordered a shaving brush to see if that helps to get a bit closer without slicing chunks off.

    I'd stay in Lichfield and commute as little as possible. As said, it is a nice town with lots of other attractions close by. The one place you'll have to go to very often is your work so why not be as close as possible.
    It is one of the more expensive areas though so you could save a bit by looking at neighbouring towns.

    Work so hard that you can't think of anything except how nice it would be to stop. I find a good workout doesn't leave enough brain capacity to get bored 🙂

    I agree with tragically 1969. I can't imagine that you can design a wedding ring that isn't already in existance unless it isn't going to look like a wedding ring and I can think of much more interesting things to do than panning for enough flakes of gold to make 2 rings. Then again I am an ex geologist so I've had my share of that sort of thing.

    We went to Mappin and Webb, quite a nice selection, got well looked after and chose 2 rings in about 45 minutes. They make them for you after you've chosen from their display models.

    Just got a single blade safety razor for Christmas and am learning how to get one with it after years of gillette things.
    I like it but you have to take your time a bit. That's part of the fun.

    Hi
    I am in Ringsted which is about an hour from Copenhagen in the centre of Sjæland.

    My first reaction would be that as a single guy, you would be really stuck out on your own there. Copenhagen is fairly cosmopolitan but outside it, everywhere is most of the time. Shops close at lunchtime on a saturday and nothing happens on a sunday. You may get lucky, but my guess is that you'll feel pretty isolated. I guess it depends a bit on where you're going to work, if it is a small company full of young people then there may be some socialising, but if it is a normal mix then I suspect you'll spend a lot of time on your own. (bear in mind that most Danes don't really enter the job market until their late 20s and by then a lot of them are quite settled and some even have kids)
    4 hours to Copenhagen sounds optimistic, it could easily be longer I suspect and bear in mind the cost of the train or approx £40 to go over the Storebelt bridge and back by car).
    If you want to PM me then try wmillarduk at yahoo dot co dot uk , I'd happily have a chat on the phone if you want to get some more inside info.

    You can't learn to swim well without a coach of some sort watching you telling you what to do better and repeating the process over and over until your stroke is good. Then you have to practice 🙂

    It's not like running or riding a bike, there is a right way and all the other wrong ways. (Some may argue there are a couple of right ways, but that is accademic if you're doing it wrongly.)

    Mum mum lives in the house that her great grand parents owned and aparet from university has always lived close to it.
    I on the other hand started there in the midlands and have since lived in London, Manchester, Grenoble and now in Denmark. Off to the US in 2010 if we can get it together but now there are 2 kids as well it gets more complicated.

    I would say absolutely NO don't send the mail. That will undermine her authority and position in her bosses eyes. Put yourself in her shoes and then think how you would feel about her mailing your boss to ask him to take it easy on you. It's like a letter from your mum.

    Speak to her about it and see if she wants you to send something…

    She has to deal with the situation and your job is to support her, not to get involved in it at work.

    She should stand by her guns, either systems get fixed (shouldn't IT do that?) or she goes to a meeting. Can't have both and she has to state that in a black and white way. Leave no ambiguity.

    I hope it all gets sorted out in a way that everyone is happy. Best to clear the air both at home and at work before anyone is in the situation where a breakdown of any kind is on the cards

    The ones at the top are Pearl Izumi Lobster somethings and are really good. I have the glove version that they made a few years ago (and maybe still do) and they are/were great too.

    I went from Dura Ace 7700 to Red and the shifing is not as good although I have read reports that DA 7900 is not as good as 7800.

    Anyway I can't imagine that Rival is really as good as Ultegra. Is it? I would have thought

    Rival = 105
    Force = Ultegra SL
    Red = Dura Ace

    is more simple. No?
