My personal fave is Nina Conti who happens to be really really funny and very pleasing on the eye as well. Check her out on youtube with her monkey 😉

Thanks to this thread, I am now feeling rather sad and have just spent a fortune at itunes although not on anything I’ve listened to here oddly enough (Leonard Cohen anyone?)

I live in Denmark and it seems that pretty much every single meal here involves some sort of pork. Almost all of it is delicious.

I had the black with red Os and red ear socks which looked pretty cool.

Personally I think the carbon ones look like painted carbon effect which is exactly what they are. I dropped the black ones whilst riding a couple of times, but becuase the frame was not painted, the marks were not visible at all.

I’ve got some white jawbones now though so I am officially the daddy 8)

In Denmark they are only valid for 6 months (along with the house survey, hence my comment)

It probably has a validity period which will have run out by now. Are you sure that there haven’t been any changes in that time.

Maybe it would be best to contact the surveying company directly if you know who it is, if not then maybe the estate agent will know who that is

We use one in our basement to dry the washing and it works really well. The noise is no problem and I don’t think it costs too much to run.

We bought it from B&Q and got the 2nd cheapest which was about £40 IIRC about 5 years ago. It has just started to sound different than it used to so I suspect that it may not make it through the winter, in which case we’ll get a new one.

I’m planning on going to the guitar shop near work at some point and trying to figure out which one I want and then I’ll talk to Mrs OJ about a christmas present. They have a few ex-demos on offer as well so there may be a bargain available.

They seemto have about 100 to choose from so there should be something i like.

My nex door neighbour is a music teacher so perhaps that is a good place to start. I was thinking of asking him for some lessons if I got stuck b
ut perhaps I’ll speak to him before I go shopping. Having had a look around, it is less expensive than I was expecting so I’ll probably get a new one anyway.

Blimey, I didn’t realise this was going to be complicated. I was hoping it would just be a matter of someone saying that for someone with my requirements I should be looking for X and considering A and B from manufacturers D and E.

Mabe I need to go to a shop afterall.

It’s ok until you get a flat or a mechanical you can’t fix at the roadside (in the dark a flat is enough of a challenge)

I swear in front of and at our kids. (Not Ozzy Osbourne levels, but she always gets mad at me for it)

I think that’s about it. She was really fed up with me this morning but I have no idea why…

Ive got one we bought new in the summer and it’s great. Not much space in the boot but ok for a bit of shopping or a buggy.

We can get both kids in their seat in the back as well but then it is rather slow, best when you are on your own.

Don’t know about the costs, but in Denmark the Toyota wasn’t much more expensive, but for some reason got a 3 year warranty instead of 2 years on the Citroen or the Pug

That was based on the advice of the Singletrack colective. I don’t care if I drink at the weekends or not. I will not drink this week and then see how I feel at the end of it.

As an aside, about 12 months ago we found out that our youngest son (about 1 at the time) had a serious intestinal problem on top of the other genetic problems he has been born with (no I am not married to my cousin) and my wife and I basically drank a bottle of wine every night for a month or so to help deal with it. It helped at the time and it was never a problem to go back to the usual bottle on a friday night. We even told the nurse that we didn’t need to see a therapist becuase we were coping by drinking!

Sometimes you indulge a little, other times you don’t. It’s the ability to realise that you have been indulging and then stop that prevents us from becoming massively overweight and alcoholics.

OK you’ve convinced me, Friday and Saturday nights only. we never have more than a bottle of wine anyway so that should limit me to 10 units per week as we always share the bottle.

Now then, where did I put my hip flask? 😈

In Denmark the orange smarties taste the same as the others and it totally ruins them for me. I want real smarties

I could just cut back to a couple of glasses on a friday night, but along side the drinking, I want to start training again for next season after an injury induced season write off this year.

I just thought that a couple of dry months would help me to focus on training. It’s easier to get on the trainer after the kids are in bed when you haven’t had a glass of wine and it’s easier to get out of bed and on the trainer in the morning when you haven’t had half a bottle+ the night before.

For the record, no comments from friends or family. I can’t remember the last time I was actually drunk either.

I’m pretty certain that I don’t have a problem, it just crept up on me that the friday/saturday evening bottle of wine was becoming more of a daily occurance so I decided to knock it on the head for a bit.

I am mostly surprised that it seems to be occupying my thoughts during the rest of the day and I really wasn’t expecting it to.

I have certainly drunk more in the past and never considered it a problem, I was just curious about other peoples thoughts.

The complication is that I am in Denmark and they are therefore Danish kids.
The parents will not be staying (unfortunately) and when I asked the other half what they normally do she hadn’t heard of pass the parcel or musican chairs FFS.

I think it’s time to introduce the pass the parcel to the Scandinavians though.

The food will be dreadful healthy stuff like carrot sticks and bl00dy apples 🙁

    What else?

It costs quite a lot to put one on BUT I think they are basically obeying capitalist rules and put the price up until they can only just fill the races. I think the cost of an ironman race entry is significantly less than most of the competitors will spend on training, travel costs and gear plus most people only do one a year.

It’s a rip off, but so are lots of other things in life 🙂

I think I am going to get a leapster 2 from Amazon. It looks more 5 year old friendly and is a lot cheaper than the DS. They are also trying to tell me that it is educational, but i’ll take that with a pinch of salt…
