ive ti. i didnt ride at the time so its not the reason why.mainly cos its cheap and strong. missus’s ring is platinum and very thin.slill cost her 350 quid.mine was £40! from samuels i think. and what do people see when were out? shes go a shiny silver coloured ring on her finger and hes got a (dull admittedly, but any metal would be in my ownership)silver coloured ring on his finger too.it was cheap but has taken some real beating in its stride.
its just a symbol too me.what its made of is irrelevant. once youve had it on for six months you dont know its there anymore anyway….

thanks for all the advice peeps! couple of points from me.
ive ridden 22 miles before now in two hours but my knees started hurting and as i say im new to distance so may have been too much too early.also im on plaform pedals at the mo so im in the process of going to spds and hopefully more efficentcy there.
yes it is cammtb if anyone on her is a local!
thanks for the points on training ways but im more in this for fun AND excercise.i dont want to compete or race but want to be able to turn in a decent ride happily and keep up with the pack etc or if i went off to more hilly climbs else where, be able to put in less distance but with more challanging terrain etc.
more riding is obviously key but some people mention diet.is this just not eating pies and chips everyday or stuff to give me energy etc??no one mentioned more sleep??

i would not us it for sports but… i have to say i LOVE the taste of the stuff.its actually good that its so bad for your teeth etc or id guzzle it more, especially when out on the piss.that and vodka. saved me from many a “puking lager in an alley way at midnight” night out.instead focused (ish) and plastered all night long!

sadly the only “insurance” in this day and age are numerous big locks and ideally a mean dog. the insurance companys are as a big a bunch of thieves as the guys with boltcroppers.

imho, cycling gear sells for big money compared to regular clothes. sadly far eastern manufactuer cost next to nothing for any clothes regardles of type.end result=huge mark up on infrequent sales of cycling gear.
you would like to think the big companys would take more of an interest in quality control tho.

tried the explanation, tried the fines, tried the “ill catch you and then youll be in trouble” but it just seems such a big image “no,no” for them i honestly think they would prob consider just not having bikes.for all i know they could be the two coolest kids in school and this may threaten to knock them off that spot??

the chances of injury probably are low.back in the day i never wore one and falling out of trees, crossing railway lines etc was prob far more risky but….i just want them to slap one on there head to school and same on the way back.thats all.dont expect them to wear it in class! it may be million to one but somebody somewhere will be the millionth’one wont they?

and yes they are at the age where they have absolutly no idea of the concequences of there actions. ie you make a sandwich, you eat it, the crumbs YOU left behind are not MY responsability.

I was stung by the dibble for riding on the pavement.cost £30 quid.annoyed me but frankly having seen so many idiots coming so close to me over the years i now just view it as cyclist taxation.in the end i would happinlly pay £30 quid rather than be hospitalised by some boy racer in his tin box.

aparently ally expands twice as fast as steel so freezing it would help in that respect.would have tried this if, A.i had a chest freezer. B. i actually thought there was any chance of it working!

it does lockout when turned clockwise.
thing is my gold and blue turn in unison.does this mean the floodgate is changing when i lockout the forks? (would i notice if they were locked-prob not i guess)

i have same bike and same prob.the gold small knob seems to turn at same time as blue lockout wheel, but not seperatly? is it me? i looked briefly through the manual but cant say i know why?
love to know whats what.i cant think there both broken.it must be a way of doing it.

    any body?

thing is i dont belive it is my knees.it the top of the shin, where it meets the knee.
think i may play around with the saddle and stem heights.saddle could be a bit higher, just a tiny bit, and if the stem droped slightly id have more of a, bum up shoulders down stance.(kind of)

come to think of it i guess i was riding in the saddle a lot.my bars are fairly high and i could well have been sporting a “legs a kimbo” stylee!
    (Well a bit)

im not running cleats, just flat pedals (dmr v8’s)
could this be the reason tho?
    would cleats help?

im exactly the same as you justin.you would expect the gold knob to turn but only the blue lockout turns and the gold knob spins with it.i must admit i have not read the instructions inside out tho.

    bristolbiker im with you on

Even at this level, I’m quite paranoid (have been known to ride round the block if there are suspicious lookign scrouts about when I get home etc) and realise that ‘if they want it, they’ll get it’

i had two motorcycles stolen in the past and they smashed throu the garage and even thou it is surrounded by houses no one saw! many locks and ground anchors required i belive!

thing is it could all still be stripped of components…..

well thats a consideration i had thought about.how “built up” would it have been? im thought about removing cranks and stuff thike that to then grease and refit. would it be worth having spoke tention checked or would the wheels be fairly safe as they would have come direct from manufacturers?
