as amechanic id just like to say dont underestimate cv and the work involved.getting it all apart (esp in this weather) can be the main problem and you can end up spliing gearbox oil etc if not careful.

also dont get pattern cv boots, there crap and never entertain those splitboot type things.waste of money and dont last 5 mins.look for a local indepedant garage.

brake pads are easily dooable.it in dought do a bit of googling.

"if you're using electric do not wash/ wet your face beforehand as it will not work"
    +1
very true.shave first, then shower if using electric.other way if a blade.

also the three round head shavers are very quiet compared to the straight long foil, side to side jobs.last one i had sounded like an electric sander!

im a hairy fella and my stubble comes out like concrete reinforcing wire so i feel i should add to this…
i electric shave every other day.need to be smart for work but a dark day is dooable.
my £60 leccy shaver (philips?) does the job but i have to be metodical and keep going over and over to get it smooth.it takes the majority off fast but the stragglers take time to remove.
wet shaving rules but is a bind and i only do it for special occasions or if i want about three days run of no shaving needed.
What i usually do which is different is if i have about two/three days growth and want to get it smooth, pain free, is leccy shave the majority off, then quick wet shave to smooth things right up!works well and no rash, burn, cuts etc.
also nivea after shave balm is good stuff.the idea of putting anything on my red raw bleeding face seemed like madness but it works a treat!

i posted this originally to get an overview of what JEJ customer delivery times were like, thats all.i think its good that jej post on here but cant people just contact them directly with a query rather than contact STW to then contact jej?otherwise this is just gonna run and run?? just seems a bit conveluted really, helpful but conveluted.

no no no, you muppet! my mate did this and it smelt for ages.
i work in the motor trade and take it from me if you want to clean aluminum the only thing to use is alloy wheel cleaner.not because its fo alloy wheels but because if you get the right stuff its acid.it strips the surface clean,it really can be quite amazing sometimes.

use strong degreaser first then spray with wheel acid.soak for few mins max then jet wash, hose off and dry thouroughly (they are carbs!)

trust me nothing comes close on bare alloy…ignore all the above posts…

ps try and my it from a motor factor reather than halfords type places.its proper strong and not halfords watered down rubbish…and mind your eyes!! 😯

just to repeat this is an experiment not a "proper" build.

if i have semi-horizontal drop outs, as is common on really cheap frames (as this is) would this allow enough adjustment to not need a tensioner?

    odannyboy

    where abouts was that then?

p.s. see you put you big rotors on to prevent brake fade! 😆

    supply and demand.
crap exists cos people buy and want it.

(tho i think its scandelous how little education as to what is in our food exists- dont know if putting the world to rights at the checkout counts as "educating" tho…)

so what different between powder coat and respraying.i used to work in a car body shop and have resprayed a few bike frames to a high standard.
i thought powdercoating gave a heavy finish that wasnt smooth and kind of plasticy(?) but lots of these look very smooth and flat?
ive found that resprayed frames(with car paint) are a bit chip prone tho..

your very lucky, you have the perfect reason to buy a new frame.

i can sympathise.i need to be here incase anything "urgent" happens.the fact that most people are of on holiday, or havent bothered to come in, or are just doing routine work doesnt seem to be taken into consideration.its like watching paint dry…i could have taken it as holiday but id rather be off in sunny july that snowy december xmas madness week…ho hum. 😐
