All of the STW rides that I have been on have been sociable rides. Maybe it's just an english phenomenon that you describe.

I would be thinking that Beinn Ghlas on the way to Ben Lawers would be just about the shortest walk that you could get to the top of a Munro.

Bought one for £150 the other day. Spent some nights up in Fort William with it and it is grand. I suspect that its ease of pitching and taking down will encourage us to go camping a hell of a lot more which can only be a good thing. Wish I'd bought one sooner.

I'd say most kids would get up a munro at three years old. You just need to take it at a sensible pace, keep stopping to show them stuff and keep them interested. Youngest I've seen on the hills was a two year old whose parents took him on a walk up the Cobbler – he was bouncing along.

tiggs – depends on the weather. Probably something Stobb Dearg on the Buachaille and Mullach nan Coirean in the Mamores. He has been up plenty other hills and coped really well.

The boy is a freak and is more than fit enough to do these – takes after his mother.
