Hundreds of trails round there. Might be an idea to join one of the local clubs though or you will spend forever trying to find them.

Your best weapon in the type of situation is momentum. If you see someone about to pull this stunt you do not slow down.

Sadexpunk – get the pop up decathlon one. It is great. Great to the point where you didnt realise a simple idea such as that could be so great.

You dont HAVE to dry clean your worksuits. You could just be skankmeister.

Possibly a little bit, maybe. Depends on what they are marketing it to do.

You dont NEED £4000 worth of extra stuff beyond what you can afford for your wedding you WANT it. I would also consider whether that want is more than your want to start married life debt free.

Mine is normally a middle ring up front and 1/3rd of the way up the block on the back. Which is roughly the gear I would spend most time in anyway.

Heres my experience of riding singlespeed. First ride your legs and lungs are shagged – you blame poor gear choice – and you find out just how unfit you are. When you get to your first descent you spin out but brake lots because thats what you are used to doing. Couple of weeks go by and your legs have got a wee bit stronger, but your lungs are like those of a 100 a day smoker, your descending is a wee bit better and you have had to learn how to conserve speed. Couple of months go by your legs have got a lot stronger and your lungs are finally starting to catch up and you are flying down descents because your technique and line choice have had to improve out of necessity – you are quicker than you were on a geared bike because you are trying harder. Couple of years go by your legs are like high revving pistons and your lungs can handle it pretty well – your descending hasn't changed because you have got lazy and stopped trying.

Is it the ideal bike for mincing round Glentress?

The only xc route down lee pen heads off to the west to join a quad track which loops back round to the normal walkers route. Or so it looks like.

I would disagree with that coastkid. I use a B17 on my road bike and spend a lot of time on the drops.

Best thing to say about a Brooks is that you dont think about it when you're on a long ride.

JW – Why would seeing someone in a sisters uniform in sainsbury's at 3:45pm boil your pee? There are a number of exemptions to the not wearing your uniform outside of hospital/clinic rule i.e. those that work in the community are allowed to wear their uniform in the community.

The Bishop of Croydon, the Rt Rev Nick Baines, has written a prayer for the England team after their "remarkably aimless" performance against Algeria. It consists of only two words: "oh" and "God".

rolymo – getting an elderly patient out of their chair and their catheter falls out and you get covered in piss, or they spew on you, or gravity takes over and shit falls out. bulk of physio patients are elderly.

Given the limited information that we have available to us yes it looks like we will be marginally better off.

That will however change when i try and get a job in the nhs in 3yrs time…

That god forsaken bit of major road that people are talking about up there nearly killed my spirits last year. I was in a bad place mentally as I have some pretty bad vertigo and the descent off the glandon is not the best place for someone with vertigo as are many of the other places on the marmotte route. On that stretch of major road I just got the head down and tried to make a bit of time up that i'd lost of the glandon descent. After a couple of minutes I looked round and I must have had around 70 folk all in a line behind me wheelsucking like f***. Decided that this was the perfect time to peel off and have a piss and a stretch.

Will go back and do it next year though hopefully.

Edinburgh City Council have a scheme where they rent houses and flats etc off private landlords and pay them approximately double the market value, so that they can house homeless people.
