Dropped on his head as a child? A Texas village is definitely missing an idiot.

Bush Jnr wasn’t an idiot, he was poor at giving public speeches but if you listen to man speak outside of those – he’s not a village idiot. Perhaps not the sharpest tool in the box but was Clinton? He seems to have become a better man since the presidency as well – or it was just that the shhitwaks like Rumsfeld held too much influence.

Well, it would give the rest of the world a break from America induced violence and instability whilst they focused on their own internal war.

TBH it would be amazing if he did refuse to leave or concede – it would either end up with the US secret service dragging him out, Seal Team Six storming the whitehouse or a full blown civil war which is a win win in my book. It means that the rest of the worlds democracies can carry on pissing themselves with laughter whenever yanks talk about being the worlds greatest democracy.

Is it me or do Boston types sound awesome when swearing? There’s something to the accent that gives the swearyness an extra layer of aggression.

Hahah ****, I’m so tired. Off to the Netherlands it is then. God damnit brain! In my head I read the Netherlands last night and there I was thinking the Netherlands was too civilised to be mink farming as well!

I’d be 15 mins from Maastricht airport, so whilst it wouldn’t be the den of iniquity that is Amsterdam it wouldn’t exactly be in the middle of nowhere.

It’s for a contract role so I’d be back, just worried about not seeing the wife at Christmas and being stuck in the equivalent to ground zero for the next round of crazyness. The pay reflects (I think) the fact that they need someone to bring their processes under control and the fact that they’re asking me to go over in the middle of covid – a hired gun really.

On the other hand I’m keenly aware that it’s all going to shit in Britain, lots of people are going to be out of a job and the extra money might help me and the missus stay afloat if it all goes very wrong over here in terms of unemployment.

    Has this been discussed yet?

Would you guys go to the Netherlands right now for 2.5 times the money you’re currently on – or would you be too worried about the rest of the world blocking travel entirely from the Netherlands?

Well, the roads in Sheffield are as busy as ever so I assume people are ignoring the lockdown. As Steve said, short of actually starting to shoot people I don’t see how people are going to be convinced to stay home.

Or go on a mass shooting spree and run over protestors.

Hell I bet one of them does a Timothy McVeigh.

They still have a long way to go before they have the grassroots political activism of Germany or Russia in the early part of the last century.

    Heh.

Not sure it’s a long way to go though, it’s all gone a bit “March on Rome”.

This is such a complex issue. Its basically everyone HAS to get the vaccine no choice, there is a choice and we hope that enough people choose to get it to make it effective. My partner works for the NHS and will likely get it first which we are both a bit iffy on taking something thats been pushed though so quick, but there will be a lot of social pressure within the NHS for all the staff to have it. And the danger is whee does this mandate on state required vaccines end?

It should end at the barrel of a gun.

This guy and Saddam have/had the right idea on governance :P

    https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/trump-vote-rising-among-blacks-hispanics-despite-conventional-wisdom-ncna1245787

As I pointed out back in 2016, another key factor for understanding minority support for Trump may be that minorities often hold antipathy toward other minority groups. As a consequence, even if we understand many of Trump’s policies and rhetoric to indeed be racist, minorities could support Trump precisely because his rhetoric or policies seem to target other minorities, whom they also dislike.

Biden still ahead in Ohio by 2 percent with 60 percent of votes counted….

Kim Darroch saying that he’s unable to call it and lots of confusing results such as Bidens performance in Texas.

Nate Silver – “ One thing that makes this situation pretty hard to analyze is how much we believe in Biden’s lead in Ohio. If Trump wins Florida, Georgia and North Carolina, he’s at about a 50 percent shot to win the Electoral College, per our scenario tester. But if Biden then wins Ohio, Trump chances plummet to 1 percent.

To put Dazs comment in perspective, five thirty eight are correct when they say that “if Florida goes to Trump, though, his chances of winning the Electoral College would go up to 33%.

If he wins Georgia, his chances would go to 38%. If he won North Carolina, the race would still be a toss-up.”

That sounds like bollocks Daz. I can’t see the article in the NYT and every other media outlet is calling it for or betting on Biden in Ohio. The bookies are heavily swinging to Biden in Ohio.

Amazing how screaming ‘socialism’ again and again with absolutely no evidence has made the difference in florida

Pensioners, rednecks and diaspora from corrupt former Spanish colony in voting for corrupt wannabe banana republic dictator shocker.

Biden is **** trump in Ohio.

I reckon the Latino machismo vote has probably scuppered Bidens chances in Florida.

Whether that translates to the other swing states remains to be seen.

(it’s also seriously risky for the dog. Rat bites kill dogs often enough.)

I don’t rat with my Beddie, however his favourite game is to fight your hands whilst you run them along the floor as if they are rats, during the game he tries nose bump them whilst dodging and weaving away from you nipping/pinching him with your hands – very much like a boxer sparring. I suspect that there is some evolutionary reason for this due to what you mentioned – kill the rat whilst making sure you aren’t bit yourself.

BBC news trying for ‘balance’ again… they’ve had to resort to a nice long chat with Gupta again. At what point does opinion just become dangerous misinformation? She’s their new Nigel Lawson

Nahhh she’s worse than that, she’s the next Peter Duesberg.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Duesberg

eter H. Duesberg (born December 2, 1936) is a German American molecular biologist and a professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley. He is known for his early research into genetic aspects of cancer. He played a pivotal role in the AIDS denialism controversy as a proponent of the belief that HIV does not cause AIDS.

Iam front line Nhs and not particularly keen to get a rushed vaccine pumped into me and many of the surgeons I work with are saying they won’t be having it until it’s been out 6months+

Since when the **** did anyone listen to surgeons on matters of immunology, you’d get a more sensible answer from a cockerpoo.

Where has anyone said this? Why make stuff up?

They haven’t but they do seem to think that Corbyn being anti-israel is because he’s a pro human rights saint as opposed to being an anti-Semite. He doesn’t have a good track record of the former, given his support for left wing lunatics. So that makes him at best either the type of cynical tinpot socialist that supports the enemies of his enemies or an anti-Semite at worst.

Britain doing what Britain does best.

    Rank incompetency.

Any one with a modicum of understanding in terms of what would happen when human cognitive biases and conservative ideology collide in this context, could tell you what was going to happen. I fully expect this place to be a post apocalyptic walking dead style barren shithole when or if I go to and eventually return from the Netherlands – punctuated by the odd call centre manned by scared and dishevelled Gollum’s with the reanimated corpse of Corbyn put in charge.

    They’re all awful.

Vodafone connected broadband to an undeveloped plot of land for us.

Talktalk periodically managed to have a super slow narrow band connection give us a website or two.

We tried to get sky to connect a second line but they couldn’t physically locate the house… apparently.

In the end BT managed a broadband line but by gosh it is not a cheap contact .

Again, I love hyperoptic. Never had a single drop out, let me use my own router, 1/2ms ping on any UK or north european gaming server, didn’t get throttled at certain times of the day – it was like cruising through the Netherlands….a blissful vision of a more civilised world built by greater minds, where even industrial parks were beautiful….and yet a vision remarkably similar to ours if it just wasn’t so shit.

Or maybe I was just really **** high the last time I was in the back of a car driving through.

These “leftist despots” were democratically elected or led popular revolution. I don’t remember the House of Saud standing for election at any point?

    So was Hitler.

Am I right in assuming that you think massive human rights violations are okay as long as it’s done by despots imposed via democratic elections or *cough*popular*cough* revolution – and as long as they’re good little socialists?

Corbyn was a **** wit and it’s for the best that he’s gone.

    oakleymuppet

Corbyn talked about stopping selling arms to Saudi in his first speech as Labour leader.

Awesome, so he’d just sell arms to the leftist despots he refused to condemn and had so much time for such as Chavez and Castro.

He’s just like his central hate figure Thatcher and her support for Pinochet in that regard. The fact that he got called out on this whilst the Tories don’t is that the Tories don’t pretend to care about human rights, whilst Corbyn does.

Yup! Really looking forward to when hyperoptic role out in Sheffield fully, they’ve been **** amazing for me wherever ever I’ve been. “ooh you just moved in, right then let’s go and enable the line whilst you go and plug in your own third party router if you have one via the ewan port”……voila 600-700mbps speeds wihin maybe 30 minutes of my time.

Richpenny, no they are not all equal – hyperoptic are the dogs bollocks of ISP’s but they’re in limited areas right now.

Thanks all, I think I’ll just leave it as her decision – I’ve said my reasons for thinking it’s not a great idea. It’s a pretty posh place with lots of space anyway, so I imagine risk will be pretty low. I have nitrile gloves for working on my bike too, so I’ll just stick them on in the taxi 😀

If you feel you’re at risk then by all don’t go but you will need to sell it as you being worried about her and you’re going to have to go the extra mile with a birthday at home.

Be creative and empathetic, just remember that your missus might be getting pretty bad cabin fever.

Be positive and smiley and make the evening fun, even if it’s not what she really wanted. It’s not that hard to put on a smile for someone and it might make you feel chirpier as well.
