Sometimes the wife but much of what i moan about is boring to her so not worth it.

    She vents to me too.

Sometimes you just need to say it, sometimes its best not said

If you can’t go to the tip on your bike and don’t have a car or any friends who have one, call the council and arrange a domestic collection, they are circa £15 for 3 items.

If you bitch and whine enough then you may get them to collect FOC.

My family bought me 40 laps drifting at Drift limits in herts for my 40th.

My mrs had a load of stuff lined up, a chef coming round to teach and cook a curry as well as a group trip to the crystal maze, none of which happened as Covid lockdown was the day it was all due.

I would do an experience before you get too old and decrepit for that shit

    If learning, day 1:
    Knee pads
Wrist guards, built in to gloves is much nicer
Crash pants, soft pads not rigid if you can.

Once you decide you don’t hate it, get some boots fitted in a store.

Do several sessions on the hire boards, try different lengths, you can change them as often as you like during your session.

Then start looking at demo boards and go from there.

Of course i’m not referring to a plumbed in split system for £250!

a stand alone unit moved around the house to where you are spending the time provides an ample solution for a couple of days a year

Are there better ways of doing it ? yes.

We have all been on holiday, everywhere is fitted with a split system and a brise soleil if not roller shutters, depends on your budget, by the sounds of it a 20″ fan and opening windows means quite a low number.

£250 on aircon will be far more effective

For BPW, Windhill, Black mountain or anywhere i’m getting airborne, I wear an under layer to stop chaffage on the nips but I might just use plasters next time, then a TLD HW shirt which is enough protection for most offs.

I wear TLD knee pads and some Raceface elbows.

I have a Fox Pro-frame which is great as a Full face as its not too warm.

    I have the TRP Hyd/Rd.

Hydraulic calipers activate by cable. They’ve been absolutely flawless with loads of power and easy to adjust.

I’m a big fan of the Logitech K270 and an M705 mouse.

    They are reliable and comfortable.

I used to crash a lot, I then went to UKBIKESKILLS for a couple of sessions, one on general skills and drops and one on jumps, now its quite rare to crash tbh.

I used to do 16 miles each way per day I used to drive 5-10miles then park up and ride the rest.

I had the ride down to 50mins through the suburbs and into central London.

    Worth a look.

If you go invisiframe, do it now not later, should be fitted pre assembly.

I like a 1″ rise but its quite subjective, can you draw comparisons with an existing bike to understand the bar height once you have added tyres, fork and headset stack height into consideration?

Greater Anglia removed my lock from the station rack.

In regard to the FM department not allowing CCTV to be viewed, look them up on the ICO register and if they don’t have a listing shop them.

If they have CCTV being monitored by a guard on site check if the guards are CCTV licensed by the SIA, if not shop them.

There are rules they need to abide by for safeguarding purposes.

I have income protection deferred for 3months with my mortgage, I have Life and critical illness cover.

I also have a sports accident policy via Helen Gaskell helen@bespokenewcastle.co.uk

She is a MTB’r and will advise on a suitable policy.

No one covers separated shoulders/collarbone, break it or dislocation only.

I’m a big fan of my TLD HW short sleeve armour, you can add or take bits away if you don’t like the pad layout.

Been in a few crashes in it and it has done well.

I’ve had 661, too clunky and hot
Poc VPD T-shirt, very mobile for a rigid armour shirt but overkill for me.
O’neal padded T Shirt, hard to get on and off

    Get a Feedback stand instead.

I had a Park 9 and sold it to buy the feedback.

The feedback is lighter, more stable and 100 times easier to use the head etc.

I have the sport. Not cheap but you will never look at another.

The ones for £19.99 are well out of season so they are likely legit.

I bought some Troy lee jerseys at Ladies market in HK years back and they were as good as the official ones.

    No clicks.

My wife likes to leave the car in gear on the flat or anywhere, so annoying.

We have an auto handbrake and have done for years.

Mentally switching off to all of the mates rides to reduce the stoke and Fomo due to working throughout Lockdown leading to complete lack of motivation to ride when opportunity arises.

I’ve been out on my MTB 3 times this year, makes me sad but i’m completely unmotivated to get back on it.

I do however cycle more as I am now taking a fold up 700c bike with me on the train into LDN to avoid the tube.

Montague Boston, odd looking but superbly built and ticks the box of foldable for travel at peak times.

Clug aren’t bad but you need to be very precise with the drilling as otherwise they will be wonky.

One tip is to set the height of the hook so that the wheel can rest on the floor.

If these are for various family members, not all of them will be able to physically lift a bike into the air vertically to hook it on, bear that in mind.

Hooks wise you can use any type they are nothing special and none do the job any better than others.

    Anti-Theft Hierarchy:

    1. Insure the bikes as named items, add a little on for locks and accessories. Make sure you have up to date photos, and records of the serial numbers etc.
    2. Secure the building they are in. Internal sliding gate if no option to better secure the exterior.
    3. Add a camera. WiFi cameras are very cheap and link to your phone via the cloud with local storage on the device.
    4. Add an alarm.
    5. Add locks to the bikes.
    6. Put the most valuable bikes (sentimentally and ££’s) in the least convenient place with some cheaper sacrificial lambs nearer the door.

When they get stolen don’t expect to see them again

My 40th was in lockdown, I was quite relieved as I didn’t want to do anything, mostly since being a dad i’m permanently tired or stressed.
Plus the wife has been on maternity leave and I did not want her to spend any of her money on me.

All of the plans were cancelled and I had a minor dose of Covid-19 for good measure.

I had a nice day in with the family and having video calls.

The activities planned did sound fun but I didn’t want to “celebrate a big one” either way.

When I was younger I would party hard and do big group activities.

We went to Jump st for my 38th etc.

Overfilling by using a narrower block does work and holds up under DH conditions.

    I used TP Link products.

    FidGlock is too funny.

Can you get the Glock in red to match Hope brakes?

Looks like the driver learned a lesson.

The amount of abuse cyclists get rightly or wrongly it was bound to escalate at some point

    Narrower bleed block,

I spent quite some time sanding down my bleed block to get the right level of bite for my XT brakes.

The stock shimano bleed block is too wide.

Surely the lack of new products is due to the decline in the DH market.

Same as F1 cars, they look cool and are great to watch but we aren’t all rushing out to by one.
