Mefty – Can you run calibre along side a normal amazon library?

I prefer my Kindle for ease of use.

I travel by foldy bike and train to work and this makes life a lot easier.

It takes up less space in my bag and it’s easier to slip in to a pocket if i need to move which i frequently do due to the bike.

a good case is essential and the amazon own one is excellent.

The cost of up to date books is horrific though.

I’ve always had good service on the uplift but I agree the lunch time thing makes no sense.

I think that a pump at the top in the hut or by the uplift queue would be great.
there are plenty of companies selling public use pumps now and indeed work stands.

Can’t wait to go back in a couple of weeks.

Try a bit of Mucoff or similar, I dowse the lower parts of my car and the wheels in it before i wash it and the dirt just slides off with the jet wash

I did it on my previous bike a Lapierre Spicy by copying the location of the model from the following year.

    Worked out fine.

Can’t get a drill in to where i want on my latest bike Saracen ariel or i would do this mod to it too.

I recently got an x-tools star nut setter.

Wow, what a truely satisfying tool to use!

If you don’t have one and foresee ever having to fit a new star nut get one!

And a telescopic magnet, them things save your life so many times!

    i use:

    34t Uberbike NW ring

Zee Clutch mech on a wide range 11-36 cassette

    Gamut SXR top and taco

This is hands down the best combo for me.

I have an ariel 162 and i like to jump and hit rock gardens etc with abandon and this is a very secure set up.

I tried a nw and clutch only but it kept jumping on rock gardens.

I had a specialized top guide only and that worked well but i got the SXR to add the bash protection.

Had crud racers for a couple of years, they are good, take ten mins to set up but not hard.

Only issue i have is i forget that the rear guard is on there when wheeling the bike about upright.

I would pursue the GP line to get a referral.

They will try to put you off with waiting list times.

It must work as i have had my schedule accelerated in the past and received good quality physio at a time that suited me a few years back when i tore the cartilage while trying to lever down a wishbone on a car to do a shock change.

It clicked for a couple of years but the locking was stopped by the physio.

Now i don’t even consider it an issue.

Be like Andy Dufresne, write a letter a day, they can’t ignore you forever.

Have you considered a Kansi 3twenty?

The 20″ wheels are far more comfortable than the 16″ on the Bromptons.

IF you are riding on typical british roads i would wager that the kansi will be a better ride.

The Kansi is currently £330 from most retailers.

Find a dry cleaners close to work and negotiate a deal for regular use.

Thats what i have always done so i can ride in whatever.

I have a Troy lee casual jersey and either madison waterproof shorts or some slim fit chinos to stop chain snags.

I’ve had the misfortune to stay in the Crown hotel in MT.

Terrible hotel, i had broken furniture, lights which worked depending on how hard and how frequently you flicked the switches.

A corby trouser press with the plug removed but left on the floor.
Two lamps but only one set of sockets

Metal windows which would not shut flush.

The bikes were heavily locked up down stairs.

I would always go 160mm if you plan the uplift days.

Have you considered getting the suspension tuned?

IF you spend most of your time on tame trails it makes sense to have a firm set up with blow through for crazy days.

Then when you are off to the Alps for a concentrated get the bike tuned to suit.

Once you get to know your local suspension guy it will become a much less costly exercise.

I don’t get the random level pull issue but i do get the upside down issue.

If the bike is upside down for a period then the levers will pull to the bar a couple of times.

I need to bleed them properly.
