Slick honey, I give mine a little dab round the base of the stanchion post ride then operate a couple of times and wipe the excess off leaving a film on the shaft (ooer).

I went to Screw fix got some masonry paint about 5l then picked up a masonry roller, took 2 days to do my garage, bearing in mind I had to move all the stuff around inside.
I have plenty of paint left over to redo it another time when the walls get a bit grubby.

I used outdoor paint on one wall but the brick work just sucked it up, on reflection I think that was aimed at wood not brick.

I’d be more annoyed with the backwards Nicolai Stickers.
That’s how the stickers are meant to be.

I’d still be annoyed about it

I got the same hoist I expect, £100. Plan to sell it after.

It’s been ok so far. Getting the exhaust off the turbo was a pig, and unless I do something differently it’s going to be impossible reconnect. Really wanted to avoid removing the whole steering sub-frame as it’s not that high off the ground. Otherwise though it seems to have been designed with the mechanic in mind – large bits come off whole, eg headlights, radiator, a/c condensor, intercooler, bonnet catch assembly etc all off in one lump.

Other than the turbo, I’m hoping the engine control module doesn’t throw a fit when I plug it back in.

Did you loosen the engine on the mounts before trying to remove the turbo?

As long as the engine is supported you can lean it backwards or forwards to suit what you are trying to do.

Its pretty easy to undo the lower gear box mount and still have the engine held in place.

Get a bit of 4×2 to help lean the engine about

Incidently, I went private with this and had it repaired for £340, IF anyone in essex needs a number for a decent body shop let me know.

    Good on you.

I’ve swapped out an engine before its easier than it looks.

I bought a hoist for £99 and sold it when I was finished for £110, people need to check ebay properly.

Swapping out Turbo’s is pretty straight forward, especially off the car.

Clean your intercooler out while its off the car too.

Not read the whole thread but I saw Envirovent mentioned. I’ve solved the problems in our bathroom (damp walls after showers, towels not drying etc.) by swapping out a bog-standard fan for one of their cyclone 7 jobs. I’m seriously impressed. It shifts a huge amount of air, is super-quiet, very easy to fit and the moisture sensor just works. Worth every penny.

how much did you pay for it?

Why would i want to touch what i’d just vacuumed up?
Press a button and the contents fall into the bin?

not with long girl hair in it.

Plus it coats the inside of the cylinder with dust, which nicely creates a dust cloud as you try to knock the dust out into the wheelie bin.

That’s the other thing, i have to empty it into the wheelie bin as otherwise my house would be covered in the dust.

I’m not a fan of this stupid vacuum.

the only thing it does well is clean my car mats, obvs when they are out of the car.

i’m also flabbergasted at the method of emptying a Dyson, for what is supposed to be a high end product with super tech.

Why would i want to touch what i’d just vacuumed up?

I made the mistake of vacuuming plaster dust while decorating, that was a fun 3 hour strip down and rebuild!

    Henry’s every time.

I backed down and let the missus buy a Dyson, its a pain in the arse for anything other than straight forward carpet.

Shit on stairs, small gaps, cob webs etc.

don’t get me started on trying to vacuum the car with it!

I’m getting a Henry for the garage.

get a sheffield hoop and some shear bolts, that way you can lean the bike on it rather than the wall or whatever. or vary where you lock the bike up.

Unless its the cart, do it yourself.

The only specific tool you need is a rubber oil filter wrench but even then you can get round it if you are gentle.

I’ve done a couple, very simple machines.

I am with the majority here:

    Hose off,
    Wring out
    In the machine
    Airer indoors
5tens get a hose off and then clas ohlsen boot dryer for a couple of hours depending on how enthusiastic i was with the hose.

My garage is too cold to dry things but i do have an oil rad out there which I some times use if I don’t want to wash the kit before i use it again.

My bro bought an uber BB but it has not lasted very long at all. Couple of hunderd miles tops! He has had to replace the bearings already. I have a Gusset one here ready to go into mine when the Shimano one fails (again). I can test fit the top hat from the Uber BB into the Gusset as they do seem to be available as spares…. Sure I read they are interchangeable.

    https://www.uberbikecomponents.com/view-product/Uberbike-Replacement-Top-Hat-External-Bearing-Cap

Has your bro had his frame faced to ensure the BB is sitting in it straight?

I had the same issue with a Lapierre spicy,

I cut what I could off the seat tower and fitted a reverb which is the lowest clamp to rail height I could at the time.

In the end I conceded and bought a Saracen Ariel and its a dream.

I get a much lower seat height when it is down and feels like it is out of the way now when i’m throwing shapes.

I’m using the 150micron gear its much easier to work with.

    Offers plenty of rub protection.

It won’t do a lot for impact damage
