I may have missed this but what sort of riding do you intend to do?

    General woods riding?

    Dirt jumps?

    Senders?

Trail centres, if so what grades?

The armour you use will be best dictated by the style of riding tbh

Chrome://settings/sitedata worked for me nice one.

Maybe put this post as a sticky with the date in the title.

I understood they weren’t to charge for debit cards but could for credit cards.

It seems more sensible to charge for credit cards, particularly where there is no head room to accommodate the merchant charges.

You have to get a lower cup to suit.

Or sometimes you can just get a 1″1/8 to 1.5″ crown race adaptor for most typical 45° x 45° bearings

I have tried chain cleaners they are ok but if the jockey wheel, cassette and chain ring are dirty you are on a hiding to nothing as far as I can see.

I tend to clean my chain etc by hand in the sink with fairy, but i will be getting some proper degreaser as its a lot cheaper.

I remember saying that to clear a load of clothes and costume jewellery the people looking could have 3 for a £1, one of them was trying to get a discount because they couldn’t find 3 items they liked only 2!

Most amusing was one bloke standing there eyeing me up for a suit that I was selling and then haggling a bit, he went off happy with the suit, but it wasn’t mine it was my brother in law’s who is a foot shorter than me!

I would be amazed if you get away with strapping road bikes to a tailgate.

They have nothing like the headtube strength of a mountain bike, on that alone I would forget the idea of a pick up

i’m impressed you did that with bare feet and hands, you know its gonna splinter!

I have hired crew cabs before and used Pick ups for long trips.

You can comfortably get 5 bikes across the tailgate of a Navara or a Ranger, the issue comes when you need to store 5 peoples worth of stuff. I’m thinking body armour, full face helmets etc.

It’s fine in nice weather but when its raining no one wants to do a trip and arrive to soggy gear.

The cab’s have no storage in them so anything you put in there is limited.

Crew cab vans, I’ve hired a new shape Transit and a Hyundai i load.

Both vans swallowed up 5 bikes, front wheels off, and all the kit for a weekends riding, the vans both had bulkheads so the cabin was pretty quiet too.

The cabin was comfortable for 5 people but could seat 6 at a stretch.

The transit was the least comfortable for passengers. The Hyundai was really comfy had a good engine and was nice to drive.

Ultimately, Cool factor = Pick up, Practicality = Crew van.

Could you disassemble it and put a spacer in there?

The only way to know is to see an exploded diagram

This is assuming you have it bottomed out on the seat clamp?

My iphone shuts down really quickly when it is cold.

It’s fairly normal as the batteries age

A mate of mine has a navara, we use the tailgate pad when there are a few of us but he wants a different solution as he is always worried about the tailgate pad getting nicked.

He has now fitted an axle mount on the top of the bed roller shutter so he can mount to that with no worries.

If its leased and doesn’t have a bed cover maybe that is a solution, also handy for covering kit when you are out on the bike.

I fitted one because as mentioned above i’m a tart and liked the clean lines when not in situ.

It came off on one run which was shortly after a quick section of 10ft table, bombhole fly out to 3ft drop, so not a huge surprise.

I will persevere with it as I’ve only done a couple of rides with it.

I don’t get how you can “tighten them up” as they are a predetermined piece of plastic with no give in it.

I do have a cable run down the top side of my Downtube so maybe that knocked it off?

You probably do have to wipe the muck off of the tiny bit that is exposed.

Bearing in mind its rolled up you will get about 10% of it dirty.

I have just had my CCDB back from TF-Tuned.

    I had:

Length altered from 216×63 to 200×57

    Black shaft

Some other internal shaft replaced due to scoring

    Serviced

= £270 by the time return postage was added on

Not cheap but It’s cheaper than a replacement unit at £599

I could have got a second hand unit but sodds law says it is knackered and needs loads of work.

That said there was up until last week a CCDB IL on ebay in a 190 x 50 length.

I have an X-fusion 190 x 50 length which you can have for £50 if you are interested or to keep the bike moving while your shock is away.

TF took a few days to respond but if you call them they will let you know the costs and possibilities.

I realise that Saddle bags are available.

    Saddle bags:

    Keep stuff clean and dry

Don’t keep anything secure unless you are ramming them full of stuff

    Bandit:

Keeps stuff secure and not bouncy

doesn’t keep anything clean, unless you put a plastic bag over it

Need the secure load aspect of the bandit with the flexibility of fitting any rail.

Must be do able without a DIY effort.

The bandit is very interesting as an option, does anyone do anything similar for non specialized saddles?

They are like a holiday romance.

I have ridden them 3 times now and I find they are lots of fun but I couldn’t own one.

The battery tech is still in its infancy.

Once they have slim, light weight batteries that don’t cost the earth i’ll be interested.

    I have Hope cranks.

They are fantastically engineered and very hard wearing.

Installation is time consuming but worth paying attention to.

Here they are on my Edit:

I had a Kansi 3 Twenty for my commuter, excellent value and 3 speeds is both tidy and sufficient for general town riding.

They can accept racks and mudguards.

Whyte Glencoe, stated figure is 10.9kg

    I have added

    2 x bottle cages

    1 x Light roadie pump

    1 x Flashy light front

    1 x flashy light rear

    1 x Ass saver

    1 x Cable lock

1 x Pair of Odyssey plastic pedals

So I would guess no more than 12.5kg

I would like to increase it a little more to add full length mudguards when Whyte finally release them.

Mechanics seat cover, rubber mats for riding duties

I always change my shoes for riding/driving and then a hoody to stop you putting mud on the arm rest.

    Simple
