I use a Troy Lee 7850 for most duties, it is a dual density foam for all pads, it would not stop a rock strike but it takes the edge off of most crashed.

I also have a POC VPD T shirt, the back protector on this would def stop a rock strike, it is bulkier and as it has hard shell shoulders and chest plates.

It cost me £100 secondhand in near mint condition so it wasn’t too bitter a pill to swallow, for the life of me I don’t know why they decided white was the best colour for it.

I had 661 armour quote a few years ago, it always seemed excessively hot to me.

I would def recommend the POC, I wish I was a good enough seamstress to sew my own personalised set up, I would reduce the bulk of the chest and shoulders and maybe address the positioning of the back protector a little.

Have you considered hiring a camper rather than buying outright?

Do they have clubs where you can pay an annual fee for X amount of use per year?

like they do for super cars / classics

In my past experience they very often end up in smack converters, there will be a local outlet, he isn’t retailing stolen bikes on a street corner.

He was probably watching to see when the builders left.

Where does he take all the bikes he nicks? perhaps they need to be told what is going on as well as notifying the police of his outlet.

No one to buy, no point stealing.

Recently had a big clear out and got rid of pretty much everything in a day or so.

First item had left my house in 20mins.

Always worth keeping an eye out for local items.

I have a Whyte Glencoe it covers most of the things you list and is supremely comfortable.

I bash it about like a mtb with no worries, whyte do other models with more gears if you have lots of hills to contend with.

lever distance to the bars can make a fair bit of difference.

If you find there isn’t enough bite when you wind the adjusters in you can make a thinner bleed block to bring the pads out.

I use these to send my wifi to the garage.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01LXOZ4EN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My garage is on a separate breaker in the main fuse board and has a mini board in the garage.

The main sender unit is plugged in to the router in the living room the receiver is in the garage.

    Works perfectly.

I get as fast speeds in the garage as I do in the house.

I bought through amazon because their returns are no hassle if it didn’t work.

def get a double stand if you can, no single sided stand will be stable enough.

What about a paddock stand you can use on the drive? could make something suitable out of wood to hold the bike upright.

Thank you all for the comments.

I really like the clear style, the moulding of the plastic adds the rigidity and stops it deforming.

I appreciate the pitfalls of the heat applied during Vacuum moulding, I will have to try the plaster of Paris route.

I don’t get why they are all smoked either.

i’ve yet to find a decent one, do you have hollow axle cranks?

The crank stands are much better.

This has a thumb screw to retain the contents.

Cheaper options would be a strip of velcro, or a bungee cord

Considered bigger discs and finned pads?

If not then Zee are very powerful as are Saint.

Hope are a really nice feel with lots of power.

Best bet is get it sprayed black, that way you have wife proof upgrades for life, “same bike love”

If you want to see if they work, touch your pads at the bottom of a descent with your fingers, then run the same experiment with a set of non-finned ones and see which are the hottest.

Of course they work, will you die if you don;t have them? no, but yes you will get less performance

The magazine is pretty disappointing tbh, once you have done a year of reading them it becomes nonsense to buy more as the articles are out of date and repetitive.

I have a short sub for which I got a nice multi tool, cancelling shortly, will re-sub when a decent gift is offered again.

I found them difficult to set up due to the velcro.

the patches kept peeling off the frame.

there is no substitute for a proper set of mudguards with stays.

I’m running some Lyrik Rc’s on my Edit with a CCDB Air out the back, very well matched and a more than competent fork.

Chat to Ed see if he has any deals on forks available.

It would depend on the means of the one who hit me.

If they rock up on a halfords special or something not running Dura Ace then I would leave it.

If they are of comparable means I would expect them to offer to go half way.

No issue with hanging them, the only issues you might get are spongy brakes if they need a bleed.

If you must mount them vertically, ensure you have every other hook a decent bit lower than the last as otherwise the bars will touch.

Someone mentioned top and tailing them, good luck manoeuvring the bike to that position.

Are all the bikes yours or are some children’s or partner’s?

can they man handle them up and down if you aren’t about?

i’m in the process of rigging up a pulley hook set up for my sister in law so that she can get her ladies town bike in and out of vertical storage.

I have mine on the wall using pedal hooks with little tabs for the tyres to rest on.

It keeps the bikes as high as possible without pedals to walk into.

As you can see from the photo they are mounted straight into breeze block, they have been up for ages and get regular use with no issues.

100% no more colour coding, you have already gone too far with the red rotors.

Bikes should have a coloured frame with black everything else, except maybe some Gold renthals.

If you have a black bike feel free to have red lyrik’s or orange fox’ on there.

I will take some of mine later, I have kitchen cabinets to the rear wall with a bench on top, the bench is supported by battens.

I have a roller cab which houses all of my tools, one drawer for sockets, one for screw drivers, one for spanners, the top section opens up and houses all of the task specific tools.

I also have a large Bisley tambour which houses all of my chemicals and power tools, I am going to replace the kitchen cabinets with two more tambours as they are so much easier to use without having to open the doors into work space. Very cheap second hand.

All of my bike bar two are on pedal wall mounts, it takes up the least space compared to hanging by wheels.

Be careful what you horde, you really don’t need all those left hand 3 speed shifters….
