3 x 26″ here…I use my brakes far too much…would have to use them even more if the wheels were bigger as they’re quicker…right?

Given your criteria and budget I’d buy this… http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1912724/ (if it fits)

I have no affiliation just saw it on PB, I have the Ti version and it’s very very good, I wanted the steel but I got a steal on the Ti. This has duel position Pikes too (like mine) so 130mm forks but 160 if you want to go ‘core’ in Wales.

I know it’s ‘recommend’ what you ride but it really is an all rounder canal ride with the kids/XC/trail/DH/4X does the lot…

Sorry to hear you’ve had so many issues, sure it’s really frustrating…for this reason I only trade online for PayPal gift payments for cheaper items or cash on collection for anything over £50ish.

Thinking of doing some work…this thread is scaring the life out of me!

I can live with £1k to £1.5k per sq mtr but something thinking £50k/£60k and quotes coming in at £140k is crazy.

I can only assume they live in the South East!

Just renewed my building insurance, they reckoned the cost of rebuilding my whole house would be £120k!!!

TheBrick, planning on a large shed/outbuilding. The living space is more important than the garage space as much as a luxury it is!

Thank you…I’d seen somewhere charged £7k for a garage conversion, must be the going rate, does your mate have a website? (Probably not but worth asking).

There is already a kitchen extension on the back so was considering a bedroom and on suite, was hoping £20-£25k might cover it.

    Any photos?

    How did you pay?

If it was PayPal tell him they didn’t arrive and ask him to prove it…it’ll teach him two can play shitty 😉

Next time he charges £18 signed for he pay the £18 and send them signed for. I’m with OP on this one bang out of order!

Glad this has come up, was planning on taking my six year old as she loves the whole saga especially empire strikes back. Then I heard it might not be suitable for under 12’s.

The comments here assure me it’ll be okay. We can’t wait!

Wow…I have a BTL and it’s all going well…I’m terrified now after reading this thread! Haha.

OP – A BTL is potentially great or potentially financial suicide. It’s just about getting it right. Given the current market you need to buy below market value with a strong return/yield.

When I did it I wasn’t looking for one but saw a property that just stacked up. The price was cheaper than others in the area but the rents was higher, right property, right location. You want to be looking at 15% yield, should hold up even with changes.

For those on here saying about young people getting on the housing market, yes it’s tough but like others said what I’d their priority. Me and the wife budgeted hard to get on the ladder at the hight of the market before the credit crunch and crash…I know a lot of folk in my age bracket (mid 20’s/mid 30’s) who have £400+ car loads, several luxary holidays around the world a year and have far too many designer cloths and iproducts. It’s about priorities. (I appreciate that London/SE is very different to the rest of the UK).

All very strange…for those saying don’t do PayPal gift as it might not work 2 minutes late that’s no different to cash which would probably the default transaction in this situation.

I’d be cautious, can you go back to her ’employers’ and discuss with her/pay cash? What type of workplace was it? Surely you can tell if she works there or not? Uniform? Ask on reception etc?

I have the golf GTD same engine. Not sure how different it would be on MPG as there are a few differences (weight/aero dynamics etc).

Driving carefully circa 50 MPG giving it some stonk 40 MPG.

    Check the sizing though… 😉

This is the debate, online vrs LBS. I can not afford to pay for the excellent service LBS’s charge, it’s often close to RRP, online you can save 10’s sometime 100’s of pounds however i am fully aware I will not get the same service.

I have to fit parts myself
I may have to wait longer
Warrenty returns are more of a PITA
Any issues take longer to resolve

Online at bargain basement prices is great till it goes wrong, then it’s not so great, you have to make the choice, buy cheap with backup being more time consuming/PITA or pay more and and be able to walk into a LBS and often have things sorted there and then.

If your not happy with the timescales doesn’t sound like internet shopping is for you I’d start using a good LBS.

Great fun…respect to those who can get round the black in just over an hour…I dont think I’ll ever be that fit takes me 25 to get up the initial 3 mile climb!

Do the blacks they’re just fast and fun, would call the technical though!

Quick close the thread before wanmankylung gets outed as jackanory!

Tell you what give us the name of the team you fight for and said champions so we can all google them check out their credentials…oh yeah that’s right it’s all BS…and if you can’t back it up it will confirm to everyone who reads the thread that every piece of sh*t you’ve spouted on here ain’t true…come on then what you waiting for??? Yeah…thought not…

Believe me we defiantly move in different circles…I can could the amount of people I know that earn upwards of £300k on one finger.

Plus I don’t know a team full of ‘impressive’ world class fighters that would beat ‘any’ UFc fighter in a TKD bout!

Your lead a life of elitism that I could never dream of…anyway what was the name of the club again? I’ll do some research…can’t be more than half a dozen TKD gyms in one Scottish city…or is it like Fight Club…1st rule…no one talks about fight club…Doh!

    nwill1

Come on then let’s check it all out, name the gym I’m guessing it’s highly reputable with all those big players, not run in a leisure centre hall or anything…guy with the profiles you mention will be used to the high life one would assume they’re expect I train in a state or te art facility.

Folk I know earning over £300k tend to have and attend the best of the bet gyms/golf clubs etc…or is it all spit and sawdust…authentic something money can’t buy?

Donald Cerone vs Rafael dos Anjos
Junior Dos Sanos vs Alistair Overeem
    Nate Diaz vs Michael Johnson.

All tough calls but great card like you say… I’m going

    Dos Anjos
    Dos Sanos
    Johnson

wanmankylung – your making me smile more and more each time I log on 🙂 please continue.

Don’t reckon any guys at my local martial arts club earns over £50k (probably not close) but I may be wrong but saing that I wasn’t training with the worlds most elite martial artists.

Assuming that most are Junior titles beings he’s 18? Sorry to say but with all the different organisations they’re not really world titles are they? The only folk that turn up are those with the time, money and inclination to bother unlike the Olympics where it’s genuinely the best in the world from the whole world, I mean what is the qualifying process to be selected to attend the competitions? If he can’t make it onto the National team how can he win a world title? One assumes most if not all of his own national team members are better than him?

Anyway who has he fought of any standout notability? All the fighters I’ve mentioned have fought the worlds best.

At the end of it all you clearly have no fondness for UFC as it’s an inferior sport in your opinion with a bunch of loser brawlers that have no credentials or skills that could ever impress you or your mates who are world champions of much higher regard so I guess we may as well end the thread.

Aldo took a dive, Connor can’t punch, no serious martial artist would waste their time competing in the UFC.

PS please do not have any concern for my well being the most recent head injurybwasb7 years ago, all checked out and clear apart from they did mention I may suffer from a delusion that MMA fighters are credible martial artists…go figure!

Bangs to the head yes…knocked out with a kick to the head whilst kickboxing and twice falling from my bike!

I’m reading it as, your not impressed by world class athletes who have won some serious martial arts tournaments on a world stage and achieve a high level in the world of full contact MMA but appear very impressed by a talented youth in your club who has won some national competitions but can’t make it into the national team…it does sound a little silly think about it, the rest was just an sarcastic exaggeration expanding on what it sound like you were implying.

I won’t call the out of hours GP…reckon I’ll be fine.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah….LMFAO.

Just read this back to yourself…”He won the scottish title last year beating the national team captain who is his intructor. That’s impressive.” Yet “none of them are what I would call spectacular or impressive. “

Sounds like he’s on for winning gold in Brazil next year then before storming the UFC and becoming Champion in 2 years time like Connor…oh no wait he can’t get in the national team but he’s still much much more spectacular than UFC champions and fighters that have won ‘real’ world titles and competed in the Olympics!

Oh hang on “He was offered a place on the olympic development squad but turned it down because he wants to stay with his club and help to coach youngsters. That’s impressive.”

Were you aware that nearly all UFC fighters coach as well (young and old) many have their own gyms but nothing compared to your mate…he doesn’t need to be in the Olympics…why would he…he’s already the greatest fighter of all time…doesn’t need to prove it…now that is impressive.

    Lol

I have not swallowed anything…any fighter from any background can move into the UFC once they’ve proved to be capable by despatching all comers. Granted Pride and Strikeforce were also great but neither are any longer in existence.

Where would you suggest the best testing ground to decide the best fighter in the world is?

    nwill1
    Free Member

jimjam….haha nearly pissed myself…so funny but ‘case closed your honour’ MMA was started to settle BJJ is better than TKD, TKD is better than wester boxing, western boxing is better than Wrestling, Westling is better than Karate etc etc etc truth has turned out to be they all have a place and in order to beat any opponent you new to be able to perform all disappointed to a high level!

wanmankylung did you watch that documentary on Connor? The one where they measured certain attributes at a world sporting facility? He is a unique athlete, in tests performed on sporting elites from all sports he recorded the best ever time on a balance test (formally held by a top surfer)! The speed generated by his hips was faster than any other athlete tested.

His spinning kick in a reaction test was almost a fast as his jab but generated much more power…I’m not saying he is THE most elite kicker in the would but he has great kicking technique that can be applied effectively during unarmed combat at the most elite level on earth…plus he IS the best 145 pound fighter in the world period!

    nwill1
    Free Member

Yeah they are…the guy in your link is good too question, is can he fight, can he apply those techniques in the ultimate unarmed combat competition that is the UFC? A real would situation where an opponent can attack you by almost any means. Most great kickers in the UFC (ie Edson Barboza) come up against adversity when they face an opponent that applies pressure and takes the fight to them often not giving the the time/space to perform their kicks effectively.

Another interesting thing I’ve seen given all you criticism of UFC fighters guards/defence or lack of it is that TKD fighters even at elite level keep there hands/arms low and sustain big blows to the head!?

Also consider that a 4oz glove lives very little room for error not like gloves in many other combat sports, it’s easier to slip punched through a guard with 4oz gloves.

    nwill1
    Free Member

wanamakylung – I’m fairly sure that Connor could hold his own with your mates over at your TKD club…

Just check his kicks out…I can’t see that he has any poor technique…sure you’ll point it out to us though…may be worth contacting him too, genuinely he’s like an MMA sponge he loves to learn from experts!

Not sure they would hang with him in a full contact MMA fight mind 😉
