Had Hope X2 and XT. I didn’t like them XT as they lacked power compared to the XT and for me I did not like the lever ergonomics as they have a fairly long straight lever compared with the XT.

However my mates had the newer Hope’s, there’s sooo much more power now than the X2’s and the lever has improved. If I had the money id go Hope.

I have one for camping, only had it at Xmas but well impressed, better as an oven than grill.

It’s great when camping to be able to cook lasagne and jacket spuds for tea, fry up for breakfast and burgers for lunch. Very versatile.

Not cheap to buy but reckon it’ll last for many years.

Have one of each! I generally like smaller companies, not saying they are the best but just like the small scale ethos…there are many others I like but focus on the brands I have as there are a loads of great companies out there…BTR, Cotic, Chromag.

As great as the big boys are…Giant, Trek, etc I’m just not into the big corporates.

Saw some on eBay from China for £85 but scared they might end in epic fail…but then part of me thinks they’re probably made in the same factory with the same material by the same machines and same people!

Cheers, I’m pretty keen on a set they have but being for 26″ (450mm C2A as supposed to 470) I guess they’d be fairly undesirable and might be something that may fall into sale.

Seen the exotic and I know it’s sounds lame but really like the look of the on one forks.

I’ve gone with Isla, so far I only lost £10 on the balance bike and £10 of the 16″…the 20″ did cost an eye watering £350 but as stated the last two bakes have cost me about £20 for the sake of 4 years joy. If I get close to £200 when I come to sell in a couple of years I’ll be well happy.

They’re really well made, light and just seem quality…the thing that took the win though for me with the Isla was that my daughter preferred the paint on Isla to frog!

Just going through something similar myself…in the process of selling my house, was due to complete next week…buyers have said now they want to postpone to see the dust settle.

They’re coming around for another viewing tomorrow and I have a sneaky suspicion this will be their next move…they had already negotiated 5% based on them being cash buyers which was hard to stomach but if they ask for anymore I’m ready to flip!! They can go screw themselves and jog on!!

With the FTSE 100 coming back up to 6300, ££ strengthening, interest rates looking to remain low, banks continuing with existing lending criteria and demand on housing grater than supply my gut feeling is the market may fall very slightly but medium/long term contine to be stable.

Obsolete – no longer produced or used

Given they are still being produced, sold and used by definition clearly not obsolete…pretty sure my ‘obsolete’ 26″ Orange Five isn’t the limiting factor when it comes to my speed…and I’m not to slow

“classic example of why large sections of the population should not be allowed to vote.”

Kennyp – so you don’t even want to live in a democracy then…you’d take the vote from those that disagree with you!?

Not followed this thread…but just been reading the last few pages in response to ‘mintimperial’ commenting ‘Everyone who votes out next Thursday is voting to put the father of a seven year old kid, and the husband of a woman who is too ill to work, out of employment.’

Wow…some might say that a vote to remain is keeping someone with a 7 year old and a wife too ill to work struggling to secure employment because they’ve been forced out of the labour market by immigrants!?

Just saying that everyone has their own circumstances and everyone will feel that one way will affect them positively and the other negatively…each to their own that’s why we’re in a democracy and that’s why we each get a vote.

People keep saying that fork availability will be an issue…most 27.5″ forks have a 10mm c2a difference! My 26″ Five runs 150mm could live with a 140mm 27.5″ fork no bother!!

    nwill1

As above…it’s only rims & tires, can use 27.5″ forks. They’ll be around for a long time as the are 000,000’s good 26″ bikes out there!

Like you say you can pick up a £5k bike from a year or two back for £1500. A £5k bike for 12 months ago would be better than a £1500 brand new 27.5″ bike from this seasons models…to me people buying a new £1500 bike are crazy given what you can get almost new 2nd hand…26″ or 27.5″!

I’ve seen some mint 2nd hand Stanton Sherpas at that price (£1000) that’s where I’d put my money. There’s a nice one over on PB at the moment I’m having to avoid. Rebas/hope on Stans…nice!

This is why I watch MMA these days, match ups are not based on politics. If a guys good enough they just step up the rankings. Haye’s not up there to fight the top dogs but he’s so much better than the lower ranked fighters it’s a sham.

I’d love to see AJ vs Haye.

How would an XS Soul size up with some air rebar…imagine you’d build it up for £800 with 26″ prices?

Might be well off the mark size wise, apologies if so.

My collection has been ‘grown’. I’ve brought as and when I’ve had the cash, started with basic builds and improved them over time, to be fair I have what I consider to be 3 serious bikes now all fairly high spec (without being silly I.e not XTR). A mix of ‘nearly new’ and brand new.

Depends on what you want…longer slacker are quicker/more stable…if you get your kicks from spends and how quick you can get down a section probably what you’re looking for.

Smaller, shorter stays etc…more playful not quite as stable DH…totally depends on riding style!

Flatout’s stuff always looks ‘well used’ but they seem to ask for top prices! I’ve always avoided them, guess people buy from them as they feel they can trust them.

Cheers…yes charity is very good, we’ve already donated time to help just trying to fund raise now…I know I can walk it with ease as I walk a fair bit but running is just…well harder!

Should I train daily or every other day…should I focus on going further slow or faster over the 5k?
