lovetoride….just realised saw some of older threads….you decided against a blender then? I brought a BFE felt real good but XS was tiny so sold it on.

Apparently a small was used by a team rider (few years back) for 4x racing prior to the holeshot being designed….not ridden one myself.

Halfords Merryhill (Dudley) is also excellent, there are a couple of serious bikers in there, the one guy has a Santacruz Carbon Nomad, the other a spicy, their bikes are so dialled mechanically I guessed they’d be able to look after my little blender, they love it when so one takes a good bike in to work on they seem to make an extra effort and do a sterling job.

    Cheers

I agree with handyandy….I have owned a blender for 3 years & use it for everything, yes its no mountain goat when it comes to climbing but offers the flexibility in the fact (height dependant) you can get a post high enough to pedal, others may have “better” seat tube angles but that’s useless unless your a midget, even at 400mm they’re not big enough to pedal seated.

Hi, I’ve very recently brought a lightly used xs BFE (blue) in place of my Blender, but made an awful mistake as its tiny! Excellent ride but can’t get the seatpost high enough to pedal properly. Selling it frame only (with black hope headset) in the next few days. Will be a good price email me at nwill1 AT ymail DOT com for full details and photos.

Thanks chiefgrooveguru makes sence, and jambalaya that’s the plan, I certainly won’t sell the blender until I’m sure (if I go ahead), could be the best move or an expensive mistake but I’m fairly confident it wouldn’t be.

Used to run pikes 120-140 most of the time except for BMX tracks where I ran them at 100. Recently brought some Fox Float 36’s and have set them at 140 (30mm sag)

65mm stem, 735mm wide bars, straight Thompson seat post.

    Here is a pic:

Cheers mboy (and others) my fear is changing and regretting it, can’t see that happening but the blender is my first proper mtb and just feels so right most of the time but it does become cramped on the longer rides and on climbs.

Cheers mboy, do you think it will be a better all rounder? I.e pedal better but still sharp handling for 4x and stable for DH tracks?

Cheers, its currently small frames I’m looking at, but wanted to check, anyone ridden both a cotic and a blender for comparison?

I wear knee pads every ride, used to save for 4x, DH, etc but went otb on an xc ride and landed on my knees, lesson learnt. They’ve aided me to avoid numerous injuries of varying magnitude.

First off hate to hear of injuries so hope all mend quickly.

I did Llandelga for the 1st time last Sunday, I found the trails loads of fun but they just flowed so nice I was compelled to ride them fast and this brings home how careful you need to be, would of hurt bigtime to come off on that surface at speed but I have reasonable ability and experience knowing where to be cautious.

Saying that from experience I’ve been involved in and witnessed some scary looking falls and walked away relatively unscathed, then minor falls have caused serious injury. The worst being over kinver freeride, there are some big jumps/drops/gaps and some small ones, one time this dude hit this real small jump and snapped the big bone in the top of his leg (forget what its called).

Buy one of the £999 voodoo from halfords as a donor XT kit, revelations, 30 speed or buy bargains merlin revs RLT about £330 last time I checked.

I’d help anyone on the trails and hope others would help me.

At Llandelga on Sunday my mate taco’d his front wheel, I carry tubes, Allen keys, chain link remover etc even a spare tyre but not a spoke key (yes they’re cheap & light but don’t have one as lbs sort my wheels) fortunately one guy lent us his allowing us to loosen the spokes and another guy helped to straighten it out as much as possible allowing my mate to stumble back down the fire road. Without the support of others it would have been a long walk back to the centre.

Fair enough if I was passing on a folding tyre worth £30-£40 I’d probably agree someone replace it/pay for it at a later date but being stranded is a pain not to mention wrecking a days ridding.

On that note big thank-you if it was you who helped 🙂

Looks awsome….what size is this one?

I thinking of changing from a charge blender to either one of these or a BFE…what’s the difference between the new & old PA?

Cheers, sounds easy hope it is in practice!

I have a charge blender & decals are lacqured over so was interested in the cotic, seriously considering one if a deal comes up on a used one but if stickers were shot would want to replace them.

Me? As and when. Haven’t got into a routine with the bad weather, generally on better days!

I ride a charge blender, does everything brilliantly apart from climbs due to the slack seat angle…saying that it does climb its just no expert. Furthest ride I’ve done is 35 miles but I’m really not that fit, did Llandelga on it Sunday for the first time and it was super super fun!

I too ride hard and tend to lean towards gravity assisted bias ridding. Below is a link to my bike and me ridding it (in the one in purple)

My other choices would be a small cotic BFE, stanton slackline of dialled prince Albert. A guy on here recently swapped a charge blender frame for a dialled prince Albert and says it everything the blender is with a better ability to pedal uphill.

I have one and absolutely love it, I was ridding lots of mini DH, kinver, ribbesford, etc also Redhill 4x, then rode Redditch BMX track a lot when I was working that direction, recently been ridding more xc/trail. I went to Llandelga Sunday for the first time my conclusion was as follow:

Climbing, not the easiest, but more than do-a-ble (until I ran out of gas & started pushing, I can assure you it was me not the bike)

Downs, I really couldn’t imagine another bike being more fun around there! I was just able to attacked everything, throw it around & jump everything 1st time (it is all small). I was keeping up with loads of bikes, covets, 5’s, no probs.

    http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/8244950/

I have questioned a few times changing to a BFE or a PA especially after kayak23’s recent comments but I’m scared that what I gain in pedal-ability I’ll loose somewhere else and I really would fault any other aspect of the frame so that would grieve me bigtime!

This is an old article…2009. Was one of the deciding factors that helped me to bite the bullet on the Blender & I’ve never looked back…was/is my first (proper) mountain bike after coming from BMX and I love it.

I ride xc, trails, BMX tracks, 4x tracks and DH tracks, I could get a better bike for ever discipline but I’m not sure I could get better than my Blender for everything.

I rode Llandelga for the first time this weekend, due to fitness struggled with the last couple of climbs on the lap of black after the lap of blue but held pace with every bike on the downs! Loved it!

Sunline V1 Am its strong, looks good and is just over 30mm I know its about 10mm shorter than the likes of Thomson etc.

I did the same took a punt on some fox 36’s with a 170mm steerer….paid off….just! Could have saved 10mm on a low stack headset too, crank bros do some.

    See pics

Timec – fine could you be more specific?

Ha, I didn’t take it literally, I’ve seen vids but simple, fast, flowy sounds like what I like. I’ll be riding both soon, really interested in which will be better given the masses of rain we’ve had.

If I had a bachelor pad I’d buy it & put it on the wall for that price!

I’d eBay it, let the bidders decide its value, I reckon it’d go for more RRP is like loads more!

Nice…sell it, just be honest…you’ll still get a decent price.
