This is getting on my goat!! Let them be independent, let them take their oil, just make sure they take their proportionate share of the debt, let them set up their own currency/central bank, make them apply to the EU independently and then watch them flurrish with local governance! !

I recently brought a used 2012 Five, I had the choice of keeping two bikes with a few compromises or kit the Five out good and proper…I went for the 2nd option and very pleased. I runs it with 36’s, reverb, hope hoops XT brakes & renthal finishing kit, its awsome. Coming from a Charge Blender which is a 4X type frame and super fun I was worried it might be a little dull but its certainly not.

If I were you I’d sell the Boardman on eBay or the likes as they fetch a good price, its ‘the’ brand for no bikers, put it towards a good build, if you wait for the right deal £1500 should buy you a very nice 2011 maybe 2012 example, get your GF a basic bike 2nd for £100 or so, she probably won’t even tell the difference.

P.S I couldn’t bring myself to sell the Blender frame so soon to be built back up 🙂

I like small bikes, I’m 5″10″ on a 17 with a 50mm stem, on longer rides with lots of climbing wouldn’t want it any shorter, as the 18 has the same TT length (apparently) as the 18 I’d say might be a little on the short side, unless you like to run a longer stem!?

Get a Charge Blender, saw a mint one on ebay go for £350, change the wheels out for 24″, XC no problem then your kid can ride DH, FR, Duel and 4X as well, when kid grows change wheels out for 26″ happy days 🙂

How on earth is that Superfly ‘better value’ than the Orange in the post above?

Deore groupset, no reverb, substandard wheels and forks!! Crazy, self build searching out the bargains!!

+1 for self build, choose one of the many excellent steel frames Cotic BFE, Stanton Slackline, etc, etc look for a good 2nd hand example circa £200 look for a good set of 2nd hand forks circa £250 leaves £750 for rest of the build…shop around for XT groupset (maybe Germany) set of Hope Hoops, finish of with a Reverb from Europe …Booom! You’ll have all the bike you’ll ever need and will ride like a dream much much better value than off the peg.

Sports like DH will never be ‘dead’ they just go through ups & downs, I think that the advancement in technology means that there’s a lot of people ridding DH tracks on ‘Do it all’ bikes often as quick as on full DH rigs (jarad graves on his SB66c etc) but you see a good number of DH bikes if you rock up at popular spots.

Some grown ups like riding their bikes in the woods, some like taking photos of said grown ups riding their bikes in the woods, each to their own!

Might need to invest in a new one, is there any risk of using one that I used for other purposes, I.e does degreaser damage paintwork etc?

I’ve given it a good rub with a cloth in the accessible areas, its inbetween the links that I can’t get to where there is still an amount of gunk, though less than before.

Does it need to be immaculate before applying my Squirt?

Surely it’s not which is most popular but which is best??? Evoc FR 16l, love it.

Don’t use measurements, i refer to jumps/drops as nothing, small, average, pretty big, big, huge, crazy & stupid only problem is that its subjective.

Problem with doubles is you can have an average set that’s a couple of ft high and 15ft in distance, not a massive deal however if the the lip and landing was 6 ft high with a 15 ft distance it’s a whole different beast and I’d say that’s big!

I thought so, don’t really know that much about XC bikes but I know the half price less 10% per year rule! I will advise him accordingly.

I used DNFIve, can’t recommend them highly enough, ordered Friday lunch, arrived Sat morning, wasn’t even standard, reasonable too, cheaper than Silk Graphics.

    Here’s the results…

Ran an XT clutch with standard ring didn’t drop once on tame trails, took it to a DH track dropped every run! So depends on your ridding style and terrain really, I just went old skool and picked up an MRP G2 Mini at a good price, I’ll take the weight & price penalty to guarantee my chain stays on!

timc – I’ve never downloaded music let alone stolen it, I still buy CD’s!

I’m just of a generation where I’ve worked hard for everything I’ve got not just got lucky cause there’s so much money kicking about.

There are a lot of people that have made a fantastic living over the past 15 – 20 year through some very strong economic times…these people don’t like change or their rich picking being challenged by businesses that have clearly got a stronger business model that works, I’m not just talking bike shops but businesses across the board, smaller bike shops and the like should lower their margins and stop being greedy, they along with a generation had it too good for too long!

Yeah some kinda scam, as I was reading the add I thought he seems to know about the bike, crank length of 17mm is very specific then saw the eBay ad!

Go 1 X 10 for less fuss and less weight! If you go 2 x 10 I have an SLX front and XT rear clutch mech, both good nick, you can have the two for £50 if you want?

+1 on the 17″, I’m a nats knacker shy of 5’10” and ride a 17″ with 50mm stem, I like a smaller bike so the stand over is great but has enough length for longer rides, with lots of climbing a longer stem would work great but I’m too much into downs, drops and jumps to worry about that.

If in doubt call 999, if you watch 999 What’s Your Emergency on tv you’d see that there are 100’s/1000’s of idiots who a) don’t pay taxes and b) don’t need any help wasting time, a genuine biking (or other activity) accident is worth calling for, god forbid we never need to.

My choice was guided by price, i couldn’t wouldn’t pay £300 for a seat post, Reverb has a very good reputation and at £165 brand new was a more acceptable price.

It’s certainly a game changer mind, I’d be lost trail ridding without it now!

I offer sell on here or PB, if you don’t have fees you can get a quicker sale by reducing the price, buyer gets a bargain, seller can still end up with more in the pocket, a win win all round. However some items sell for silly money on eBay if that’s likely to be the case I sell on eBay and even after fees can get a better price.

That headcam is insane, there is a lot of crazy extreme ridding out there but this truly takes the biscuit!!!

The run into the canyon gap jump is in itself a big deal!!!

Well done to those who push the boundarys for the progression of the sport and so with it the technological advancements that come from it.
